cr-azure:
Oh sweet, she said she’d love to.
Love to!
“Okay, see you in two hours then.” Except he wasn’t really going to leave and instead, would spend his waiting time chatting with the old man who owned the repair shop.
Uncle approved of the date, and only warned him to return Basil home at an appropriate time, to which Gale agreed to.
“Do you think she knows it is a date?” Now that the excitement of having gotten the yes was beginning to fade, Gale thought of a point of concern. Basil had answered too quickly…too easily…did she even know he was asking her out instead of this being one of their usual hang outs? “Is Basil usually sharp about this type of thing?” The old man shook his head in response to Gale’s question. It made sense, because for as long as they knew each other, Gale wasn’t sure if Basil actually properly dated.
Oh boy, maybe he’d need to hammer in his message, but that can wait until later.
Two hours passed and Basil was really to go. Gale stepped up to greet her and presented a gift - a bracelet made out of grass and flowers. He got bored near the end of the two hour wait and started making something. Like all of his other DIY projects, the bracelet was sort of crooked and questionable looking, but it was the thought that count.
Basil was able to leave her shift an hour early after being shooed away by her old boss who overheard the entire exchange and whose gruff and proud smile made her incredibly flustered as she rushed upstairs to get ready. For some reason she was...very nervous for the evening. Which she wasn’t too sure why given the fact that they’ve spent plenty of time together outside her work place before in the past.
But...for some reason tonight felt different...in a way she was almost too spared to think about.
After showering the grime and grease of the day off her body, she found herself staring at her closet, hands on hip, and a scowl on her face. Spending so much of her time in the garage didn’t really provide her ample opportunities to build up a fancy wardrobe, which consisted mostly of jeans, hoodies, and t-shirts. With a frown that looked suspiciously like a pout, she dug through the dregs of her sad closet until she found...something. Clothes she had once borrowed from a friend and never returned but would suit her purposes for this evening.
Basil finished getting ready, feelings the nerves returning as she locked her door behind her and descended the staircase--a part of her feeling.....almost shy. Which was a feeling she was not used too, and quickly shook off with a grin as she rushed towards her friend who had been waiting patiently for her.
“Sorry for taking so long.” She apologized as she stopped in front of Gale, eyes drifting to the DIY bracelet in his hand, “Pretty! Is that for me?”
