October 21st, Sunday - Divination Classroom
There was something so eerie about that room and he could never quite peg down what was it that made the hairs at the back of his neck stand up in discomfort.Â
The vast wall covered in Crystal balls was a guess, but so was all the dust, all the boxes all the oddities in jars, and not to mention the broke window that still hadnât been fixed and let in the most insanely cold draft heâd ever faced.
He shook his head, the quicker he got the job done, the sooner heâd be out of there.
In a careful movement, he reached for the breast pocked of his robe, pulling out a small Niffler. It was the smallest heâd ever seen, even as a full adult of its kind, it would fall short to some of the younger ones; the COMC professor had allowed Vincent to help raise the small one and even allowed the Ravenclaw to name him.
The creature wiggled a bit in expectation in his palm before eagerly looking at its surroundings, probably trying to see which shiny objects would be easier to lay its little paws on first.
However, Vincent had other plans for the thing and with a subtle poke to the creatureâs head he regained its attention. âAlright, so, I need you to find something that looks like a shiny necklace,â Nifflers were amazing hunters of shiny things, and depending on their bond with their caretakers they could do as much as cooperate with them.
It was a long shot, but it was something Vincent was willing to try, usually Firecracker - yes, he named the poor thing Firecracker - responded well to what he told it.
He carefully placed the creature on the floor and watched it dart around every nook and cranny of the classroom, ever so occasionally holding up golden or shiny objects to Vincent as if asking if that was it; and whenever Vincent would shake his head, the small creature would eventually shove the objects in its pouch.
Eventually the Niffler began climbing the wall covered in Crystal balls, even hugging one or two before Vincent clicked his tongue to call it back to focus. Only when it reached the last row did it find something, which to Vincentâs surprise wasnât shiny, it was a little piece of paper, something that seemed to have been torn off a notebook or something.
It was an odd finding but Vincent decided to take it, as well as the Niffler off the shelf. The creature promptly climbed onto his shoulder where it sat to play with a golden coin it had previously found. Vincent didnât have the heart to take it away from the little guy.
The Ravenclaw walked closer to one of the windows, trying his best to get some light without having to cast Lumos, so that he could get a better look at what was written on the piece of paper.
âWhat the f.. Runes?â he couldnât keep the comment from escaping him. He couldnât really decipher what sort of letters were used on the piece of paper, but he was aware some students used runes as coded writing among them.
âIâll see to this later, thanks buddy,â he shoved the piece of paper into his pocket and held Firecracker with his other hand, it was time to leave, the eerie atmosphere of the classroom was getting to him.
He could almost swear he could hear a clock ticking, and the Divination Classroom had no clocks.
It was probably just his mind playing tricks on him.
