Afternoon - Library
During the day the library wasn’t a common place to find Pollux, he’d seldom wander there only for things he truly needed, be it Gryffindor errands or because a Professor had asked him to, and in rare exceptions, such as this one, he’d sneak into the old space in search of other people.
The place was obviously crowded with some bookworms who had nothing better to do on a Tuesday afternoon than getting ahead on their homework, one of two loners who only had books as friends, and then, the usuals.
He easily spotted Jihyuck near one of the big windows on one of the quieter corners of the library, with a book in hand as customary.
Pollux hardly ever had any interest in Jihyuck, truth to be told, the Ravenclaw was just a friend, one that kept going down in the ranking, the more his twin grew interested in the guy. He was simply someone who was part of Pollux’s life due to playing a bigger role in Pollux’s close relationships’ lives.
What had brought Pollux to search for him this time tough had been one teensie little fact, the fact Jihyuck seemed suspiciously alien to all that was going on and overall guiltless.
The Gryffindor had seen a blurry photo of himself taken by Christopher’s camera in who knows what circumstances by who knows who; he’d found Junjie’s ring inside the camera that had been tossed into the lake for who knows what reason; he’d noticed Vincent being weirder than usual... It was all very odd.
Even his brother had become a pissier version of himself.
In the light of all of this, how could Jihyuck be innocent, he had to be playing a bigger role, there was no way that little Ravenclaw was guiltless, not when he hated the late professor almost as much as Pollux himself (or so the rumour went).
He waits a brief couple of minutes behind a shelf, taking a better look at Jihyuck who seems as clueless as ever when it comes to him.
In a quick move he pulled out his wand and mumbled the Crinus Muto charm in order to turn his hair black, not taking too long to put it away as we as his Head Boy pin.
Behaving like Castor shouldn’t be much of an issue, he assumes as he forces a polite smile onto his features. Hopefully Jihyuck wouldn’t pay so much attention to detail that he’d pick up on the mole being the wrong side of the face.
With a shrug he makes his way over to Jihyuck, sitting in the chair in front of the Ravenclaw and resting his chin on both his hands.

Morning - Potions Classroom
“Can’t you brew that a little bit faster?” he snapped, slamming his palm against the table by doing so, startling Christopher in his seat.
The two had opted to meet before the Quidditch game, figuring nobody would ever wander all the way down to the Potions’ Classroom when they could be trying to hype up all the players... also because on Saturdays nobody steps in that dusty old place anyway.
Pollux had convinced Christopher to concoct a non-lethal poison for him, something that could have him in the Infirmary long enough but not in a way that would damage him or keep him from proceeding with his plan.
He watched, impatient, as the young Slytherin poured stuff into his cauldron and mixed it slowly. It was worse than watching Castor polish his treasured broomstick - no pun intended.
Christopher was paying him no mind, regardless of how he’d jumped a little when Pollux tried to get his attention, he was focused on his assigned mission after all, and that was something that pleased Pollux to some extent. He could trust the Slytherin boy to refrain from asking stupid questions.
Pollux turned his gaze down to his pocket watch, the game was bound to begin in short of an hour.
With a sigh and a jerk of his head to the side - a nervous tick of when things weren’t going as smooth as he intended - he pulled out his phone.
[ ✉: jun ] cover for me at the game, will you? I’m not feeling very well [ ✉: jun ] i’ll make it up to you later
It wasn’t the first, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last time, Junjie had to fill in for Pollux as the announcer for the Quidditch games. At this point he had actually been proclaimed to be as much of an announcer as Pollux himself, not that the latter cared terribly for the position itself.
His phone chimed with a message being received mere seconds after he’d typed in his, Junjie confirming he could, indeed, fill in for him.
Good.
Pollux ran his fingers through his hair in impatience, soon enough his window of opportunity would close if Christopher didn’t move any faster - this was why Pollux hated potions, all the waiting, all the rules, all the binding to nonsense. It was a complete waste of time.
His pocket was beginning to weigh in his pocket at each ticking second.
He really had no time to lose.
Pollux let his eyes wander through the labels of the millions of vials in display on the several shelves that composed the Potions’ classroom walls in search of something that would ring a bell.
He barely paid Christopher any mind as he reached for the Venomous Tentacula juice perched at the edge of a narrow shelf, uncorked it and then took a sip.

Elio’s eyebrows arch upwards, “a photo of you?” hopefully Pollux would get the hint and develop the topic.
Everyone knew the younger Slytherin would often sneak photos of Pollux, be it due to a crush or idolization Elio wasn’t sure but… “how so taken after the camera went missing, does anyone know when this went missing exactly?”
To try and show how broken the camera was, Elio presses a button to open the mechanism, exposing the empty slot where a film should be that still had some kelp in it as well as some stains caused by water. “I’ve tried reparo on this, by the way. It worked as well as using accio to summon it… Meaning it didn’t work at all.”
“Chris kept the photo, it was blurry but it really looked like me,” Pollux shrugs. “But nobody knows, it all happened on the last day of September, i’m sure of that, what i’m not sure is who had the camera and why did it vanish to now show up like this,” he makes a vague gesture towards the camera.
Pollux moves his hand to take hold of the kelp between his thumb and forefinger, tossing it to the side short after.
“I don’t doubt you, Elio,” he says while trying to rub off some of the stains with his thumb. The metal felt cold and almost rusty-textured despite not being rusty yet.
“What’s your plan for this again? Mind if i just...” he pulls the camera closer and begins dismantling it, piece by piece, pulling them apart expertly in a way not even he knew he was aware how to do even before Elio gets to say anything about it.
In short of two minutes, the camera is completely torn to pieces he opts to display orderly before Elio’s eyes, one piece standing out more than the others, not because it was clean but because it didn’t belong there.
“Will you look at that,” Pollux comments in a low mumble, pushing the odd piece forth closer to Elio. “Doesn’t it look familiar?”
The object in question was a simple silver ring with runes engraved on it, runes that spelled nothing other than “seeking prophecies” - not that Elio would know, Slytherin moron had picked Astronomy over Runes.
But Pollux knew what it meant, and also that it was Junjie’s ring, the one he tended to use on his index finger that had been offered by his mother.
“I guess this is interesting, I dunno,” Pollux says with a smug scoff, then leaning back on his chair.

“Study of ancient runes is useless,” everyone had told him. “It’s such a stupid elective, why don’t you go for transfiguration instead, maybe you’d get to be a good animagus,” his father had said, “it’s not like you can do anything with it now, whatever was there to be discovered, has been translated by many others before you, seriously Pollux, it’s like you love wasting everyone’s time.”
Everyone always had such a delightful comment about his choice of elective, but what people never figured was that the reason for it was tightly bound to the dark arts books hidden in the library and dusty stores in Knockturn Alley.
He quickly read through the book encrypted in some form of 17th century runes, most of the pages were warnings and thoughts from the wizard who had written it, only by the book’s last pages did he get to what he was after.
“Resurrection spell,” his finger traced the encrypted title as he read it out loud.
“There is also the potion, you know?” Junjie’s voice had chimed from behind him, a tone of boredom ever present in his words.
“I have no use for a potion that does so much of a mess, requires a lot of shit only to end up with a disfigured nonsense. I mean, did you ever look at photos of whats-his-face back in the 90′s? Bloke had no bloody nose, it was horrid to look at.”
“I’m pretty sure his nose wasn’t the worst about Tom Riddle, but you do you.”
Pollux heard some scuffling behind him, indication that Junjie had opted to sit down, probably on a pile of snow that still covered the floor that out in the forest.
They’d been there for a few hours now, Pollux sitting on a log going through his book while Rigby, his poor toad, lied dead on a cleared spot on the floor.
“What if this fails?” Junjie spoke again.
“It won’t.”
The spell wasn’t terribly hard to perform. Most warnings about it had focused on how it would take more, the bigger the object of the resurrection was - partly it had made Pollux ever so happy about his choice of pet - and it would only require a sacrifice, blood of a powerful wizard, and a fitting wand.
One could argue that Pollux considering himself to be a powerful wizard at such a young age was a far stretch, but this is Pollux we’re talking about, thus, it was admittedly the most normal thing to happen.
Pollux eyed the pixie inside the jar that was sitting not far from his own left foot, the small creature anxiously darting around the jar, knocking itself against the glass. It would make a fine sacrifice.
He heard Junjie sigh once more behind him, which in return, made him turn around on the verge of losing his patience. “Look dude, nothing bad’s gonna happen. The worst case scenario is this little thing here die alongside Rigby who’s already dead,” he snapped.
Junjie frowned, fumbling anxiously with the ring on his index finger. “I dunno.. Don’t you find it odd that this spell exists and yet nobody uses it? I’m sure that if it was infallible, the Ministry would be all up on it to bring back powerful figures to life.”
“Maybe nobody ever had the balls to sacrifice other beings,” Pollux shrugged, “maybe they never cared to see if it worked because of the state of old lord Voldy’s mug.” He then pulled out his wand. “Maybe nobody was ever strong enough to do any of this.”
In a brief moment he extended his hand and mumbled a small hex before quickly tracing the tip of his wand across his palm, opening a big gash that promptly began dripping blood all over Ribgy’s body (and even Pollux could admit the whole process was quite nasty.)
Then, he reached for the jar and opened the lid, not giving the small pixie much time to fly out and away from it before casting the killing curse upon it, almost scoffing when the thing fell dead with a thump on the snow.
He could pretty much feel Junjie’s judgmental stare behind him, but he didn’t care, he could feel his own wand almost trembling with power in his palm.
Before he got too sidetracked - and because his palm was hurting quite the amount - he turned his wand back to the toad and mumbled the words written in the book.
A gust of wind passed by them shortly after, colder than the snow they were surrounded by, and surely, a few seconds after, Ribgy’s croak was heard. Pollux’s eyes widened as he watched the small frog suddenly jump onto its four legs, croaking once again.
“It worked!” he gasped, turning to Junjie who seemed to be equally amazed and terrified - to hell with his lack of enthusiasm. “I can’t believe it bloody worked!” Pollux put away his wand before crouching down and extending his healthy palm to Rigby so that the frog could hop onto it. “Sorry for all the trouble old pal, no hard feelings.”
The toad croaked in response... or just croaked because it was a toad.. Regardless, it had brought a smile to Pollux’s face, his pet was alive and in one piece.
“You think he’ll stay alive for too long?” Junjie asked as he stood back up to his feet. Pollux watched his friend step closer to his hand and reach out to try and touch the toad who simply jumped out of his reach the moment Junjie’s fingers wrapped around it, almost like it was some sort of wet soap and Junjie’s fingers were all buttered up.
How peculiar, Pollux thought with a chuckle. “I hope he does,” was the only thing he remembered to say.
Nevertheless, apprehension was marked all over the Slytherin’s features and it made Pollux suddenly stop on his tracks with a conundrum at hands: what would be best, to have people aware of his great achievement? Or to keep it to himself for self-protection?
Without so much as a second thought, Pollux grabbed his wand with his wounded hand and brought it up to Junjie’s temple. “No hard feelings mate... Obliviate.”

The ticking clock on the wall right next to him as driving him mad as the evening progressed. He’d lost count to all the drinks he’d downed in hopes of making the obnoxious tick-tock noise die down, needless would be to add it never worked, and it wasn’t as if all the time spent clockwatching had done much for solving the literal mystery as hands.
Elio began displaying the empty mugs of butterbeer around the camera in a circle, madness surely aiding with the artistic tendencies at that point.
Just what was taking Pollux so long? Had he decided to walk the tracks? Elio was growing impatient, and that was never good.
However Pollux was saved by the bell, literally, Elio had been about to fish his phone out of his pocked when the Gryffindor walked in the pub, making the bell above the door chime.
“Brilliant deduction,” he retorts at Pollux’ question. “I managed to find it, not that it did much for me since it’s broken from having been tossed into the bottom of the lake.” He scoffs and crosses his arms over the table, then resting his chin on them as he stares at the camera through an empty glass mug.
“Was a fucking hassle… I spotted it through one of the windows in the common room and then I had to go to hell and back in order to get one of those pesky little merpeople to help me out,” Elio frowns as he can still feel his arm sting from when the kelpie had decided to try and yank him into the water. Greedy little bastards.
He lifts his gaze to look at Pollux, his friend’s face looking mildly distorted from the glass. “I know you have a secret with Christopher, you have three seconds to spill it out… One… Two….”
Pollux frowns, having forgotten for a split second that the Slytherin common rooms were located in the dungeons of Hogwarts and had as a view the bottom of the lake.
A chill ran down his spine just at the memory of the three seconds he’d spent down there earlier than year, it was dark and eerie, something he wasn’t against, obviously, but it felt cold... Too cold for his liking. No wonder all Slytherins had issues, he’d be a mess too if he was forced to live on what truly felt like a hug from a snake.
Regardless, Pollux fails to hide his shock upon hearing about Elio making deals with merpeople.
He hadn’t been the absolute best student at COMC, but Elio had fallen substantially behind him in those classes, so, how the Slytherin had managed to get a merperson to do something for him was both a mystery but also a deed worth praising.
“How broken is it?” Pollux cuts in just as Elio was about to say ‘three’. “Christopher found a photo a few days ago... a photo of me, apparently taken after the camera went missing, that’s the secret.”

Evening - Hogsmeade, The Three Broomsticks.
Elio’s message had left him on edge all afternoon.
He hadn’t got the chance to sneak out of Hogwarts as he normally would upon receiving a text that read something in the lines of “need to see you as soon as possible. can’t speak in school. i’ll be at ttb”.
Professors had spent the day trailing after him after he’d left the hospital wing, only because what put him there wasn’t something they deemed to have been a common accident for someone as experienced and honourable as Pollux, the head of Gryffindor.
It had been a Monday full of questions and fake smiles, hopefully whatever Elio had to speak with him would bring sanity back into his spirit.
Pollux takes close to no time in spotting Elio at the abnormally emptied pub and it’s only when he’s pulling the chair back in order to sit down that he notices the camera placed at the center of the table, eerily surrounded by empty glasses.
Elio had been there for a while, that’s for sure.
“Hey man,” he greets, sliding onto his seat and making a vague nod towards the camera. “Isn’t that Christopher’s camera?”
flashin’ lights
at first pollux wasn’t too into muggle music (or music at all if he’s being honest), but then he began sneaking out of Hogwarts to venture out in the streets of London. this playlist simply throws him back to all those nights walking those streets as just another face in the crowd doing what he damn pleased with no one after him reminding him of consequences.

Evening - Hospital Wing
“Seriously Mister Lee, why would you ever attempt drinking Venomous Tentacula Juice?” Madam Pomfrey paces back and forth between Pollux’ bed and the cabinet with all sorts of vials near it. “You’re lucky you were found soon, otherwise you’d have been a lot worse than that.”
She makes a gesture towards his exposed arm, which Pollux raises to get a better look at in the light. It has turned a visible shade of lilac, definitely not as aggressive as he’d seen a first year once reach when tricked by a colleague, that guy had gone full on muggle crayon.
“Are you sure none of your peers did this?” The woman’s tone is a bit brusque, as it tends to be when it comes to Pollux. He could only assume it was because she knew how he’d get some scars and wounds since dealing with the dark arts would often backfire in an ugly way.
“Yep.” Pollux sits on the bed as Madam Pomfrey tries to feed him a spoonful of a green-looking liquid which no doubt would taste like ass. “I was just running late and grabbed the wrong vial. Never leave your pumpkin juice near someone who’s practicing potions, you know?”
Pomfrey hums, definitely not buying any of what Pollux just said and instead shoving the spoon in his mouth. “Well you might be good to go by Sunday evening. That might’ve not been a life-threatening poison, but was a poison no less. You kids need to learn to pay attention.”
Pollux just nods, not exactly paying her any mind, he simply wanted her gone.
From the window next to him he can see the quidditch game going on, he has high hopes that time Gryffindor might win, Elio had been looking more tired than Pollux had ever seen him. And come to think of it, Elio wasn’t the only one. Pollux has been noticing how some of his friends have been acting differently, ever since the night of the murder.
“Hey Madam Pomfrey?” he calls, waiting to see the woman turn around. “Has anyone figured a way around the amnesia that took over school?”
Madam Pomfrey sighs, shaking her head, maybe she’d been asked that too many times. “Mister Lee, I can do many things, but I don’t think I’m fitted to work around powerful dark magic. It wasn’t something that inflicted damage so it really is out of my hands to try and solve it.”
Powerful Dark Magic.
Pollux thanks Madam Pomfrey, sending her off with a small polite small before isolating himself with his own thoughts - he’d been postponing that for too long. So, Pomfrey had stated it, the amnesia was due to dark magic, and surely he couldn’t be the only person to have ever looked into it... the thing was, he had never met anyone who’d actually attempted the spells asides from him.
Maybe, just maybe, Junjie was right about them being mere seconds away from being accused of having done something due to their hobby. That would’ve been a first. All the years he’d been practicing had never added up to something akin to a severe problem anyway, mere inconveniences that could easily be solved.
Pollux sighs, he really was one hunch away from being framed guilty.
After all, he had been learning how to tamper with people’s memories, and it’s not like Avada Kedavra was a bitch to a spell to perform, all it needs is a strong impulse and an adequate wand, even a house elf could perform it, and despair could play a big part in both spells too.
All he can do, sitting uselessly in the hospital wing, is wait for a miracle to happen and hope nobody remembers Professor Jeremy had actually called Pollux on his misdeeds and threatened to have him expelled, a bold move that had earned him a none-too-friendly scoff and the words “I’d be careful if I were you, Professor Jeremy, after all, you know what I'm capable of.”

cpxchristopher·:
Christopher keeps his focus steady on Pollux’ features as the Gryffindor studies the photo, trying his best to read an possible expression. It was like staring at a wall though. A good looking wall, but nevertheless as impenetrable as always.
He’d let his gaze linger a bit too long, as he found himself jumping a bit on his seat, startled when Pollux slaps the photo back on the table.
Christopher sighs at the other’s response. “I showed nobody, ran to you as soon as I found it.” He reaches out to the photo and pulls it to him once again. Of course he’d keep it between them, lest he’d damage the other’s image. He could never purposely do anything to tarnish Pollux’ image, so he nods at his request.
“It’s our secret. You wouldn’t mind if i kept it though, would you?” He slips the photo onto his sleeve and rests both hands on the table, drumming his fingers at a slow pace. He can’t help but to feel uneasy.
“You know, I’m usually quite the positive thinker. At least I consider myself one… but…” he hesitates. Could Junjie be right? The other had confided that he had a bad feeling about the last day of September, and the amnesia only made things worse. Sure he liked Pollux, he doubted Pollux could ever kill a man, but he surely was and is capable of pretty devious things, and Chris was usually easily persuaded into joining when the other so required.
“Do you think we could’ve done something we shouldn’t?” his voice is barely above a whisper. “Why would you run from me?”
Pollux humms in acquiescence, turning his attention back to the mashed slice of pie in his plate. As long as that was kept a secret, everything would be fine, but now more than ever he could feel a sense of urgency growing on him. He needed to find something, anything, that could pinpoint an alibi for both the last day of september and the first day of october.
Christopher’s slow drumming on the table was slowly driving him mad, and upon hearing the boy’s questions his instinct shouts him to lurch forward and cover his mouth. Gryffindor weren’t too known for their gossip instincts, but one could never be too safe. However, his prudence spoke louder. The best thing to do was to act like nothing was wrong and draw the least amount of attention possible.
Pollux only shrugs in response instead.
“I dunno man, you can be quite the bugger. Maybe i was skipping class, you found me and i didn’t want you sending those type of photos to my mum.” As soon as the words leave his mouth he remembers that the last day of September was a bloody Sunday. He groans as he rolls his eyes.
“Look, just.. Stick to positive thinking. It could’ve been for many things, you’re my number one fan, right? Even celebrities get upset at having their picture taken at all times. Maybe I was in a mood. Who knows? Who cares?”
Losing his patience he slowly climbs out of the bench he was seated on and he pulls out his wand in order to charm the slice back to its original shape. “If you’ll excuse me, I have a thing to attend. Good luck finding your camera.”
07/10
cpxchristopher·:
Sundays were usually uneventful for Christopher, it was surprising to even see him out of the Slytherin Common Room actually, but today was all sorts of messed up. He was still bothered by the disappearance of his camera, of course, and as such, he had vowed to search under every stone in the castle if he had to.
It was nearing lunch time when he found himself alone in the big staircase, his intention being to walk over to the Ravenclaw tower and bother one of his friends to see, again, if the camera happened to be there.
That was when the staircase suddenly shifted, pointing him towards a long hallway he hadn’t stepped into in a long time, at least in two years. The transfiguration classroom was right at the end of it, the door closed but still very recognizable, and the hallway seemed to be as poorly lit as ever, not having any windows to the outside.
Christopher had turned back to shoot a pointed glance at the staircase that had shifted once again, leaving him no other option but to either wait there or go down the hall. “Sometimes i wonder what Rowena was thinking when she decided to charm the freaking stairs,” he vented out, getting in return a small noise of acknowledgement from Bubbles.
He opted to go down the hall, perhaps paying a visit to the old transfiguration class could be fun. Maybe someone hid the camera there. He really saw no reason not to check it out.
Needless to say, he never made it to the door to the classroom.
Right in the middle of the hallway, over a big stone panel on the floor, rested a small paper square. Christopher recognized it immediately as a photograph from his camera. He hurried to it and picked it up, frowning as he tried to make something of the blurry, and surprisingly almost motionless, photo.
Christopher wasted no time after that and dashed back to the staircase, sighing in relief when he saw the stupid thing turn his way. He needed to find Pollux. A task that thankfully revealed to be as easy as concocting a potion of cure for boils.
He slides onto the seat in front of Pollux as he spots him at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall and quietly slides the photo his way, opting to ignore his previous questions. “This photo was taken with my camera,” he says in an ushered tone. “It’s blurry but… Pollux that’s you. See the light hair and the Gryffindor robes?” He points to the blond-ish and the small red blurs respectively. “If you turn it around you can see the day it was taken: September 30th.”
Christopher leans closer to the older boy. “Pollux what were we doing that day? Why were you running away?”
He carefully studies the image in front of him. Sure most of the image seemed a vague blur of colours, but that was him, without a shadow of doubt. As head boy he has to wear his robes at all times inside the castle, including weekends. And that hair colour was definitely his. And he did seem to be running away from Christopher.
Pollux squints, trying to make something of the background. It seemed to be the inside of the castle. Just what was he running from? And why was Christopher photographing it, from a way lower angle no less? Had Christopher fallen to the ground? Far too many questions and alas not even one answer could be fished out of this.
He deftly picks up the photograph and flips it in his fingers to find the numbers 30-09-2018 marked on the back of the paper. It obviously still did nothing for his memory, it was beyond frustrating, he knew Christopher always took photos of him, for whatever reasons, it was great since he would send some to his mother, but this one is far too suspicious and out of the ordinary.
“I have no idea,” he concludes, slapping the photo down onto the table. “How many know of this photo?” He couldn’t afford to have many talking about it, not even the friends he trusted. Junjie was already avoiding any topic but trivial nothings with him and Elio was determined to do the Aurors’ job, so, clearly, this would only raise some red flags.
“Can we keep this a secret between us?”
07/10
Lunch Time - Great Hall.
A week has gone by since the professor was murdered and Pollux can only be baffled at the incompetence of the ministry employees. Not only had they done nothing to develop the investigation like they kept getting in his way.
He hasn’t been able to sneak out at night, walk into the forest, hell, he hasn’t even been able to go through some of Hogwarts secret tunnels. It’s like if he took one step wrong, the Aurors would fall onto him like a cerberus to a dragon bone.
It's absolutely unnerving and it keeps turning his mood sour.
“How hard is it to find a person who wanted to kill the man, damn, can they just leave?” He grumbles as he keeps picking his pumpkin pie slice apart with a fork. “Look at the smug fuckers, i bet they’re stalling on purpose just to get a bigger paycheck over some leisure days.”
Pollux lifts his eyes from his plate and finds none other than Christopher sitting opposite to him, the white mink perched on his shoulder as always. “When did you get here? Why are you here?” he frowns in confusion. It isn’t normal for this particular Slytherin to stray from his table at meal time.
And just as he was about to ask something else in a rather snappy fashion, he noticed the younger boy was holding a photo in his hands. Had he found his camera?
Pollux points down at Christopher’s hands. “Hey bud... What have you got there?”
