After the last time the World burned up, Creator released the great Wayda MÄm flood to extinguish the flames and to purge the world of the wrongdoers who incited the conflagration.
Manyāif not mostābeings perished in the fires and ensuing flood. As the waters receded, the Real People (WinthÅ«n) were created on the top of Waykukci and given the knowledge of how to prevent such catastrophic events. As they spread forth across the country, they carried that knowledge with them. For eons, the WinthÅ«n (Real People) fulfilled their responsibilities and all was balanced, healthy, and well.
In California, for at least 140-160 years now, we Winthūn have been systematically removed from our native homelands and barred from our traditional practices. Yet, we still have our oral histories which not only remind us about what happened, but which also tell us what WILL happen should our responsibilities remain unfulfilled.
