ā¢ Knock at the Cabin (2023): Eric & Andrew are a couple with their adopted daughter Wen.
ā¢ Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022): Sophie and Bee are dating during the movie.
ā¢ Slay (2024): drag queens Mama Sue Flay, Robin Banks, Bella Da Boys, and Olive Wood get stuck at a small town bar while vampires threaten the bar.
ā¢ Queens of the Dead (2025): Dre is married to a pregnant nurse named Lizzy. Kelsey is dating Pops and they all try to survive with drag queens Sam, Ginsey, and Nico during a zombie outbreak.
ā¢ Fear Street trilogy (2021): Sam and Deena are dating throughout the trilogy. In Fear Street 1666, Sarah Fier and Hannah Miller fall in love.
ā¢ I Saw the TV Glow (2024): Owen and Maddy explore repression and the fear of coming out. The film is an allegory for the trans experience.

Here are some trans characters and actors in horror! From left to right, top to bottom:
ā¢ Owen and Maddy from I Saw the TV Glow (2024). Owen is played by Justice Smith who is queer and advocates with his platform for Black queer and trans lives. Maddy is played by Jack Haven who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.
ā¢ Gretchen from Cuckoo (2024). Gretchen is played by Hunter Schafer who is a trans woman and an activist for LGBTQ rights.
ā¢ RaĆŗl Cocolotl from Wendell and Wild (2022). RaĆŗl is a trans boy and is the first transgender character in a stop motion animated film. He is Mexican-American and to reflect his ethnic background, director Henry Selick states that for RaĆŗlās design, he turned to Argentine illustrator Pablo Lobato who then used influences from Mayan, Aztec, Incan, and Toltec artwork and stone sculptures. RaĆŗl is voiced by Sam Zelaya who is a trans man.
ā¢ Jordan Lewis from They/Them (2022). Jordan is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. Jordan is played by Theo Germaine who is transmasc and nonbinary and uses they/he pronouns.
I hope this post spreads awareness about trans characters in horror movies. Trans people in the US and around the world are actively losing their rights and itās important now more than ever that we raise awareness and support transgender people. Transgender people are regular humans who deserve to live and thrive just as much as anybody else. š©µš©·š¤š©·š©µ

THE BRIDE (2026) Dir. MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL
Last night I watched The Bride! and I really liked it :D
SPOILERS
I really enjoyed a lot about this movie. The cast was awesome, Jessie and Christianās performances especially like omg. I also liked the dance scenes like it just felt so fun and whimsical. Some of the imagery reminded me of Lisa Frankenstein when Lisa would have dreams while she slept. I like that The Bride got to choose what she wanted to do and she was accepted by the queers at the underground queer club place (Iām assuming thatās what that was). I also really appreciate that in this movie, The Bride was never sexually assaulted. While men did try and groped her, it never fully went all the way and I was really scared while watching that she would get raped. But she never was. Frank helped protect her and she would stand up for herself as well. That just meant a lot to me considering in horror movies, rape is often used as like shock value or for narrative reasons that the movie could just have done another way.
The movie wasnāt perfect and was pretty surface level feminism but I think it was still really fun and I couldnāt help but fall in love with The Bride. She stole my heart just like she did Frankās.
While it flopped with a majority of the audience, I predict The Bride! will develop a cult following like Jenniferās Body and Lisa Frankenstein.

Itās Mermay and I didnāt realize it but I guess seeing all the mermaid fanart online subconsciously got me in the mood to watch mermaid/ocean movies XD So last night I decided to lean into it and I started watching Blue My Mind, a mermaid horror film from Switzerland.

This isnāt horror but I watched Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken today and I wanna talk about it. Spoilers ahead!
I did like it, I just felt like it couldāve been so much better? I felt like the premise of a teen girl whoās a kraken could be an interesting and refreshing take on a teen girl movie especially in like the mermaid kind of territory but it just.. isnāt. I donāt think the plot was anything spectacular and that sucks !
I did like the art style, I thought it was cute. Idk if itās just me being an older gen zer like Iām almost 30 but the soundtrack just felt too young for me? Idk lol like it made me feel old and I just didnāt think any songs were memorable. Speaking of memorable, Rubyās friends arenāt memorable either. They kinda just feel like generic archetypes? Thereās her love interest, her sapphic best friend, and then 2 emos (that turn out to be in love too). They were cute but they just get put on the back burner for almost the whole movie so Iām not really attached to them.
The twist imo was predictable af (I saw some people online say the trailers spoiled it but I didnāt watch any of the trailers so I had no idea) like I figured Chelsea would betray Ruby I didnāt think she would turn out to be Nerissa though. I think a more compelling story would be something like.. if Chelsea was only tricking Ruby because what if Chelsea was Nerissaās daughter and Nerissa was actually alive, but weak, and needed the tridentā¦ Or maybe Nerissa could actually be dead and Chelsea and wanted vengeance? At the end of the film, Chelsea couldāve had a change of heart and truly helped end the war between mermaids and krakens.
They couldāve even had the old kraken hunter man be the actual villain but he got some kind of redemption arc I think?
Idk, I just think this movie couldāve had better plot and did the characters pretty dirty.
