I have thought about this a couple of times, I love the one line Gil had to Ben “tell your mom that Gaston says hi and that my dad wishes he got rid of your dad when he had the chance”

 - First, Gil totally greets Queen Belle with a goofy smile and says something like “man, my dad always talks about how hot you are. And you are hot. For like, an old lady”

 - she’s all queen-like and regal, but Belle is kind of creeped out by him, but not as much as she was by Gaston

 - until someone refers to Gil as ‘Gaston Jr’ and he’s all like, ‘no, Gaston Jr.s are my brothers, my dad said I wasn’t good enough to be named after him’

 - and Belle watching how Gil is so desperate for approval from Uma and Harry or anyone really and kind of piecing together the life of Gaston’s youngest son

 - because this is a man who almost locked her father in a mental institution just because Belle didn’t want to marry him! How would he treat a child?

 - realizing Gil is dumb because Gaston never valued education, so Gil is far behind in class and Belle sets up extra tutors and help for him

- Belle is secretly smitten with how Gil follows Uma. Gaston would have never allowed a woman to be in charge and Gil so clearly adores his captain

 - it was once annoying, but Gil telling Ben how ‘my dad almost married your mom which makes us almost brothers’ is kind of endearing.
