"pizdă", marina hissed under her breath as her native tongue slipped from her lips. she was more cursing against herself than the man holding her back. her glacial look slid on the big hand now trapping her wrist. he held her back, slightly imposing, and yet didn't hurt her, as if caring not to hurt her.

despite her best efforts to forget all about it, even a small touch like that was enough to reignite the echoes of the passion they shared. it was only once. a moment of weakness from both sides, for sure. and yet it was something that easily riddled the mind of the fiercest warrior in the company, carving a craving inside of her she pretended not to feel. nonetheless, when she entered a room, any room, it was his eyes she searched for.

"what else needs to be said?" she offered, moving her head from side to side, her pale, dangerous gaze slowly raising on his face. slithering like a snake, she even leaned closer - because she surely wasn't about to back down. "we come from different worlds. you do not want me. you may want an idea of me. perhaps, it's the idea of conquering what I represent that you want." she smiled softly, sweetly - patronisingly. "but you don't want me. so let me make it easier for both of us."

She really thought she could just turn away without another word and he'd let her go? Did she not understand him at all? It wasn't as if they had pillow talk after that one night of weakness. But Marina knew fully well that he is the type to wear his heart on his sleeve whether he wanted to or not. The digits around her wrist were firm but if the older woman wanted to release herself she could have easily done so. She wasn't his prisoner though deep inside he can feel the noose around his neck, tight with her as the executioner to choose when it all ends.

warmth. that was the first thing she thought when she first laid eyes on him. fought him. that faithful day she took a stance between him and mox and he just wouldn't back down. she was used to men pretending to be big and strong, just for her to take them down with ease. men absorbed in ego, drowning in their own arrogance. not him. he fought because it was right. he fought for what he believed. and wouldn't. back. down. taking the hits, maintaining eye contact... it was what got her to not forget it, eventually becoming a bigger problem for them both. he was warm, like the rage that flew in his blood. warm, like the righteous light shining behind his eyes. warm like his touch, she could still feel clearly branded on her own body. like his voice reduced to soft whispers and praises she still dreamed.

like icarus feeling his wax wings melt as he neared the sun.

she remained silent, in the beginning, taking his anger, watching him move. she could have got away if she wanted. if only she wanted. if only she had the strength to. everything would have been easier if she could hate him. and his stupid hair she dug her fingers in. and his coarse voice saying her name. and his strong body under her. she didn't say anything, but it was all too clear, burning behind her eyes, in the small tremble shaking her body, bringing her to squeeze her hands in fists and brace her muscles, as though to hold herself back from touching him again. "don't bring him into this..." she whispered in the end, breaking eye contact with the cowboy with a twitch as shame stung her. that small window over her fear was gone in a second, as she looked back up, hiding resentment behind a large, dangerous smile that was no smile at all, but more showing teeth like an animal. "I guess I was right." she ripped her wrist off his hold, feeling a snap inside her chest when contact was broken. "it is that easy for you to just brush me under the carpet." she cursed under her breath. "why would I waste any breath speaking to you!? telling you... what? what is it that you think I don't want to say? that I caught feelings? that you mean something to me?" her gaze darkened. yes. yes. yes. mine. mine. mine. she shut that thought out with a shrug. "go to hell."

Oh, he had to bring /him/ into this. That's the only way she'd stick around. If only to fight back with hurtful words, at least she would be here instead of by his side. Adam couldn't believe she think he disposed of her that easily, as if he could get past her obsession to the game. The woman breathed for her spot in the Riders and with a snap of finger, she jumps as high as Mox wants. Of course he didn't mind taking all this verbal abuse if it meant being this close to the fire. Marina being the fire keeping him warm when everybody else has left his side. No bucks. No omega. Hell, speed and knight had moved on with a new partner because that's how the business works. It doesn't mean it's easy on the Cowboys heart. Most likely looking just as mangled as he did physically from his most epic lost in his career here.
