MARIKO KUSUMOTO - Fiber explorations

I´m amazed with this technique, fiber manipulation on Kusumoto´s work is just delightful. Necklaces can be found and purchased at MOMA shop, New York and Tokio. It looks so delicate I´m not sure I´ll wear them myself, I will probably put them in a showcase at a very visible spot at home.

ALEXANDER WANG + ADIDAS

I was so expecting this! There are so many things I like!

- The stripes reformulated, some of them are stitched on the inside, just showing stitches on the right face of garment. Very nice visual!

- The fact that there is Black, Wang´s emblematic color, and just two more colors on dark shades, burgundy and indigo.

- The logo facing down is my love one! It is all about concept! It is so urban, so young, it is like:  “f..k the rules, we rule the world” which I believe is the main thought of every youthful spirit around the globe.

- The controversial publicity campaign theme, street salling. It is ironic and sarcastic at the same time.

MARIT ILISON - BLANKET COLLECTION

I love when fashion creation focus on a very concrete concept, even more if it is related to vintage items and how to give them a second life by adapting them to a modern vision.

This beautiful coats are handmade from vintage blankets originate from the 70s and 80s Soviet Union. Each one is labelled with a certificate stating the origin and people have been involved on the making.

It is a very nice project that I don´t exactly know why reminds me my grandma.

I really enjoyed this article! It is obvious that you don't expect a wealthy fashion designer to talk about politic changes or economy for the citizens, but I liked her honesty and I enjoy seeing that after all fashion can be a canvas where to paint our aim for change.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2017 Menswear Fashion Show - PARIS

Sometimes I find menswear so inspirational that I would love to turn it into womenswear with a click!!

Colour palette is not a surprise, a basic one for men, focus on navy, light grey and chocolate brown. But then you find the printed Pijama shirts that still your heart, velvet corduroy trousers, all over print logo over washed denim, and that gorgeous apparently basic knitwear on brioche stitch that happens to be my favorite!

& OTHER STORIES collaboration with WOOL & THE GANG

I suspect & Other Stories are being very clever here. Knitting is not just very popular nowadays but we have attended to the establishment of different brands related to do so in the coolest way.

I´ve been knitter for the past 15 years so I know about what´s on the market, and the offer was very old fashion, beautiful hand made garments, but really out of trend, except a few samples that can be found at Ravelry (as precious Kate Davies´ jacquard designs). On this matter, brands as Wool and the Gang or We are Knitters, have achieved an interesting offer for the public, adjusted to different levels of difficulty, what make the packs very easy to gift.

We’ve seen different collaborations between fast fashion brands and well know designers before, H&M, Mango, & Other Stories, have sold out collections within the first week on sell, so why this would´t work with a DIY brand? 

I find it very interesting and tells me this DIY Knitting trend is not a fickle one and it is here to stay long.

40th PUNK ANNIVERSARY - Vivienne Westwood

She is Dame of British Empire for good reasons, after 40 years of career she maintains her uniqueness. Alexander McQueen named her the Coco Chanel of our time. Is her free spirit, her activism involvement and her truly love for british tailoring what I like the most.
