i love basketball.

not just the games themselves, but everything around them.

the stories players tell in interviews. the tunnel fits. the rivalries. the friendships. the way a single highlight can send you down a three-hour rabbit hole.

when i started spending more time in basketball spaces online, i noticed that so much of the conversation revolved around stats, rankings, debates, and proving how much you know.

and while there's absolutely a place for that, it was never the thing i loved most about being a fan.

basketball is culture.

it's finding a player whose game you can't stop thinking about. it's sending clips to your friends. it's becoming emotionally attached to a role player for reasons that make no sense. it's watching people build communities around a sport they love.

so i created courtside archive. ⋆˙ ♡

someone once said to me that basketball is "just a game."

i don't think that's true.

for some people, basketball is how they made friends in a new country. for others, it's staying up until 4 a.m. to watch a team on the other side of the world. it's a parent who taught you the game, a player who inspired you, a playoff run they'll never forget, or simply the thing that made a difficult year a little easier.

i want to collect those stories.

i think one of my favourite things about basketball is discovering the interests players have outside of the game. there's something very endearing about learning that the seven-foot-four french alien spends part of his free time reading massive fantasy novels.
