he’s always seen relationships as simple. jeongin doesn't really understand how things can become so complicated, but either way, it scares him.

about haerin, surprisingly enough. he saw how she pulled away from everything after what happened with chan, and he wanted her to know that he was there, and he saw her.

about his family back home, specifically his older brother and their complicated relationship.

he has a… complicated relationship with his faith, to say the least. once, he was so devoted, but now? he just feels like he’s getting fucked with.

The woods were colder than she remembered: this, she noted, as the tears in her eyes began to freeze.

Olive wasn’t entirely sure how she’d managed to get out of the pack house with nobody noticing, but nevertheless, she’d done it.

The only problem was that now, she had absolutely no where to go.

Around midnight, Olive found herself with a strange sense of déjà vu. She stood, back against a tree, as a large wolf approached her. Only, this time, she knew the wolf. 

The growl it let out was.. patronizing, dehumanizing… Yes, she knew this wolf well, and it wasn’t here to kill her.

It was here to take her.

At the pack house, Felix was in shambles. 

As soon as they stepped inside, he was kicking Chan and Hyunjin out of Olive’s room as he yelled.

At first, he had tried to curl up in her nest— to keep the scent of her on his skin. But now? He was fucking angry. He was so mad at the world, and at her family, who’d planted those thoughts inside her head.

He’d broken too many things by now: a vase, a glass left on her nightstand, the plate from whatever they’d last eaten. Now, all he could do was sink to his knees and sob again.

And when he looked back at her nest, and right in the middle sat that stuffed bunny— the one she’d loved so much, the one she’d left behind, Felix felt like he was dying.

The walls of her family's estate were as crudely colored as they’d ever been— a deep, dark red— a color that her father once said ‘exuded power’.

Her brother dragged her by her wrist to the main room of the house, where her mother sat and her father stood awaiting her arrival.

“Well,” he started, “look who finally decided to come home.” He smiled cruelly in her face. His teeth were yellowed from all the whiskey he drank, and she was sure that the cigar he held wasn’t exactly doing him any good, either.

When she didn’t speak, he continued, “Kang was very disappointed to hear about your.. departure,” he suggested, moving closer to her hauntingly.

Right, she was supposed to be mated.

“So, tell me, my daughter— did you have fun whoring yourself out to that pack,” his expression was vindictive and mocking, “to that omega?” He spit the word out like it was dirty— like Felix was dirty. Her mate was anything but.

“Don’t talk about him like that,” she murmured, eyes beginning to water.

“What was that?” He asked, taking his cigar out of his mouth and moving toward her threateningly. Olive kept her head down, avoiding his eyes at all costs, “you look at me when I talk to you,” he yelled. The force and the volume of his voice physically shook Olive— she should’ve been used to this by now. She should’ve known she’d end up back here, that her peace with Felix and the pack was only temporary.

Olive was fucked up. She had fucked up— with Felix, and with the rest of the boys, too. She’d let them think she would stay, and then she’d run off like a fucking coward. She’d hurt him, and she couldn’t go back now.

So, with all her strength, Olive looked up into her father’s eyes. “I said, don’t you dare talk about my mate like that,” she shouted. 

Suddenly, her face stung, and tears were forming in her eyes. Because her father had slapped her across the face— so hard, in fact, that she had fallen to her knees at the impact. 

He picked her up by the scruff of her neck— his grip wasn’t anywhere close to how Minho’s had been. His scent was sour, unlike Hyunjin’s. And his face— his eyes were brutal, and mean, and rugged. Nothing like her Felix.

Her father pushed her up against the wall, his hand wrapped so harshly around her throat that it would leave an angry bruise later that day.

“Remember your place,” he snarled, his eyes angry and commanding. The dissatisfied frown on his face shook Olive to her bones, because she knew what that meant.

He was going to fucking kill her if she didn’t do what he wanted.

“You are mating Kang in one day. I suggest you get your act together before then— he won’t be so kind,” and then, he was harshly releasing her neck and stomping away as she fell to the floor.

The real kicker, though? The disappointed look her mother gave her as she left the room without a word.

Felix sobbed on the floor of the sitting room as Jisung and Hyunjin tried to soothe him.

They’d been trying to ask him questions— all of them. About where Olive had gone, about what had happened. But he was too caught up, too scared, and tired, and completely heartbroken.

He had been entirely inconsolable all day. But around midnight, a different sort of pain struck him. It was coming from the inside; it was coming from the place that his bond with Olive had always hummed. Something was wrong with her. Something had happened to her.

Immediately, he raced down the hall to Chan’s room, and the elder had promptly called a pack meeting, which was how they got where they sat now.

“Lixie, I know you’re scared, baby,” Hyunjin whispered to him, though the rest of the group still heard it, “but if we’re going to find her, we need your help— we need you here with us, okay?” He reached to wipe some tears off of the blond’s face.

“It's her family,” the omega whimpered, “I know it is. They took her,” his face got angrier and redder by the second. 

All he wanted to do was strangle each and every person who’d ever hurt her, and watch the life drain out of their eyes as he smiled at their suffering. 

“Shit,” Changbin grunted, wiping a hand over his face.

“Then let's go there,” Chan suggested. Out of everyone, he had been the most stable during the situation. 

“What do you mean?” Seungmin rasped from the other end of the couch, “we have no idea where her family lives.”

“Except we do,” Minho said, speaking for the first time that night. He hadn’t been able to utter a single word, too heartbroken and horrified, just looking off into the corner.

“Where we found her,” Hyunjin caught on, “we can go back there.”

“It's a two hour walk. It’s one a.m. now, so if we’re going to go, we need to go now,” Minho said, rising from his seat, “we’ll be there by morning time.”

Felix was the first to follow.

Olive was officially locked in her room once again. She stood in front of the mirror, lightly dabbing at her cheek where her father’s ring cut her mid slap. It bled neverendingly— just too deep for a plaster to fix it. Too deep to be an easy fix. That seemed like Olive’s motto, at the moment.

For the last half hour since she made the trudge to her room, Olive had been trying to come up with an escape plan— with a way to get back to Felix, and to apologize to him and to love him for the rest of her life.

She kept on coming up empty.

What would she even say to him? What was there to say? She’d been cruel to him, and so, so stupid. He really shouldn’t ever forgive her.

She just had to accept that this was her life, now.

Soon, she’d be the obedient bride of a cruel alpha. 

She probably wouldn’t survive the next year.

The woods were cold that night, and as he and his pack trudged through, Felix was stuck in his own thoughts. 

Had he done something to push her away? Or was she simply so … conditioned? So put down by her own family that she couldn’t even fathom being with another omega— with him.

Either way— if she never wanted him again, or if she wanted him for the rest of her life, Felix was going to save her.

As the pack trudged up to the towering mansion where his love was trapped, Felix could only think one thing.

He was going to get her out of there.

Even if it was the last thing he did.

one. disconnected (five seconds of summer) — 

the first song chan wrote for his ep. disconnected was written with he and haerin’s relationship in mind. he knew he was in the wrong, and he just couldn’t process what made him do what he did. chan hated himself so much during this time.

two. me (the 1975) —

when he saw how graceful haerin remained after their breakup, chan envied that he couldn’t feel that way— that he couldn’t just pull himself together like she did. she seemed so unaffected, and he was falling apart.

three. fallingforyou (the 1975) — 

guys. he misses her so bad.

four. all i need to hear (the 1975) —

this song was written as a sincere apology to haerin. essentially, he hoped that when she heard it, she’d want him back, too. of course, that did not happen.

five. nervous (the neighborhood) —

chan wrote this song in 2019— long before he and haerin had ever dated; while they were still in the dating ban; when none of this had ever happened, and he was still content to just pine after her for the rest of his life.

six. love of my life (harry styles) —

the thing that actually sticks. finally.

one. slipfast (role model) — 

this is the first song minho wrote for his ep. he’s always struggled with song writing, especially in english, so he had a lot of help from haerin. a lot of his music has always been inspired by their friendship, and this song is not an exception. he reflects on how he was before they met, and how knowing her has changed him. 

two. oh gemini (role model) —

he wrote this after he and haerin did their two-kids room, where they discussed their friendship, and how they truly view each other as soulmates.

three. party for two (johnny orlando) — 

he’s a yearner— and he just misses jisung… so, so much.

four. frances (role model) — 

minho wrote this in 2022 after he and haerin had a fight that left them on bad terms for weeks. her name felt sour in his mouth, but he knew it was his fault— he pried too far. frances is haerin’s middle name

five. boyfriend (johnny orlando) — 

written about a rough patch in his relationship with jisung. when minho presented this song to haerin, she was soooo invested in the drama (especially since she was hearing the other side from jisung).

fame can be… very destructive in one’s life, to say the least.

two. all the stars (ft. park haerin) (kendrick lamar) —

he and haerin always wanted to do a solo project together— and this was their chance! A dive into their vulnerability, and authenticity.

three. joel (perry maysun) —

years of being in the public eye have conditioned changbin to feel a certain type of way about the way he pursues relationships: by simply not doing it.

four. misses (dominic fike) —

he’s not one to adapt to change without a fight.

five. self control (frank ocean) —

when changbin loves someone, they never leave his heart— even if that means he grieves them for the rest of his life.

he’s the jealous type.

lets just say… hyunjin has got quite the appreciation for women. and, he’s always going to come to the defense of one— no matter what; he sees everything.

written about himself.. strangely enough. hyunjin never has any idea what he wants, and it pisses him off more than it does anyone else.

obviously, hyunjin is a yearner; we all know this. but beneath the surface, he’s less confident than you’d think. he doesn’t have the guts to go for what— for who he wants.

five. girls (the 1975) —

written about haerin, of course (a communal muse, if you will). he wrote this back when they were much closer around debut. although they drifted slightly, he still holds her close to his heart and in high respects.

“Hi everyone!!!” Mina said, clicking the ‘go live’ button on her phone. In truth, she didn’t have much to do. Yes— she’d finally debuted, but that didn’t mean she was playing a sold out show every night. Beginnings were humble, and she knew that going into it.

So, that was how she found herself in the dorms at five pm, having the urge to do her first livestream as an official artist— with fans!

“I told you I had a song I wanted to play, yeah?” 

Excited comments flooded her screen

> YES MINAAAAAA > OUR MOTHER!!!!! SING!!! > wait im scared > we want to hear the song lyrical genius > taydaughter?!?!?!

“Eek,” she started, pulling a face as she read through the messages, “don’t get too excited guys. It's a little personal, but I’m proud of it.” Then, she was pulling her guitar into her lap and gently plucking its strings to ensure it was tuned correctly.

“Here goes nothing,” she sighed.

Mina kept her eyes slammed shut, not daring to look at what people were saying. She knew she wasn’t wrong for this. She’d never told anyone, but god, she just needed someone to know.

“Aw, thank you guys. These comments are so sweet,” she smiled, scrolling through the page. But they knew now, and it was done. She’d never tell them who, and she’d never speak about it again. But for that night, somebody knew, and she had been seen. She’d shown somebody else out there that there was a life for them on the other side of abuse.

“I guess I don’t really have anything else I wanted to say,” Mina said, “I think I’ll go, for now. But I'll be back soon, never fear!!” She giggled jokingly, “thank you for watching!! Goodnight, and sleep well!” 

When James came into their shared dorm later that night, he knocked gently on her door, before entering the room and sitting on the edge of her bed.

“What happened?” He asked, leaving no room for her to stay quiet.

“It’s nothing,” Mina deflected.

“Bullshit,” he dismissed. James may not have been the leader of their group, but he knew how to take care of people in ways that Martin couldn’t due to his age. He was the protective older brother everyone wanted— needed, maybe.

“It was…” Mina started, diverting her eyes away from her friend, “it was last year. I’m over it.”

“Last year?” He tensed, “Mina, you were fifteen— hell, maybe even fourteen!” His eyebrows scrunched, but she could tell his anger wasn’t directed toward her. “Who did it?” He asked.

“James..” she whispered, sulking back into herself. She knew, realistically, that he’d never do anything, but him knowing? Could she trust someone like that again? She wasn’t quite sure. Not even her own brother knew— the person she was closest to in the world (although, she was sure he would by morning and the confused, angry texts would come flooding in.)

“Mina,” he whispered back, forcing eye contact, “please tell me.” James wouldn’t back off. In the last few months, almost a year, of training by her side every single day, James had come to see Mina as his own little sister. He had a responsibility as the eldest in the group, and that was to take care of the teenagers— especially her. 

“It was Min-jun,” she answered, locking her eyes onto her lap. Min-jun had been a nineteen year old trainee when she met him. Of course, as a teenage girl, she was enamored by him. And, to her, it seemed as though he was, too. Evidently, that was not true, as Min-jun refused to tell anyone about their relationship, and always took things from Mina that she didn’t offer.

“Min-jun,” James whispered faintly, a scowl crossing his face as his eyes became murderous. Though, his attention was quickly back on the girl in front of him as he reached to pull her into his arms. 

“I’m so sorry,” he said, mumbling into her hair, “do you want to talk about it?”

“No thank you,” Mina said, wiping her tears so he wouldn’t see.

But he did when he walked back to his room later, and Juhoon pointed out the wet patch on his shoulder.

It’d never happen again. Not under his watch.

Chan raced down the stairs, his heart racing at a lethal pace. His feet had hardly touched the ground before he spoke, “Felix, go. She needs you,” he said, looking earnestly toward the omega.

Felix felt his knees trying to give out, but he wouldn’t let them— not when she was in pain, not when she was crying for him.

He ran urgently up the stairs, immediately scouting out her door across from his. It was ajar, just as Chan had left it for him. When he opened the door, he expected to see his mate in her nest, or maybe sitting on the floor. 

But never, ever, did Felix expect to see his mate on the floor, sweating and glorious, crawling to the fucking door.

His heart sank. She wore nothing but the nightgown he’d last seen her in— it was pure white, and he’d picked it out for her on that day they’d gone to the mall. It hardly brushed her mid thigh.

His mate was crawling to him. She needed him so badly that she’d picked herself up out of the bed, in which she was practically dying, to crawl to the door— to find him.

Immediately, he was surging toward her, scooping her in his arms, and carrying her back to her bed.

She cried in relief, “Lixie,” she whimpered, “I thought you wouldn’t come.”

“I’m here,” he said, “I’m always here, baby. I’m not leaving. I’ll always come back to you, baby,” he almost burst into tears at how scared she looked, at how desperate she was.

“What do you need, baby?” He asked her, laying her down and trying to get her comfortable, “anything you want, it's yours.”

“You,” she moaned in agony, “I just need you,” and with that, his lips pressed to hers, and his hands explored her body frantically. 

Somewhere, in the midst of things, her nightgown got pushed partway up her midriff, exposing her lower stomach along with her underwear— they were a soft, blue color. She desperately pushed Felix’s shirt up over his head, with her legs wrapped around his hips from where she lay beneath him. She ached to touch him, to feel him, any part of him.

Another whine came out of her as her nails ran up and down his bare back, “I know, baby, I know.”

The heat was surging inside of her, and she wasn’t sure that she could hold out much longer, she uttered one final, “please, Lixie,” as she looked desperately into his heavy eyes, her arms wrapped around his neck.

“I’ve got you,” he said shakily, as he urged off his sweatpants, leaving him in just his boxers. As he adjusted above her, he rubbed against her a bit, working a whimper out of each of them.

Felix was weak, really. He was fucking fiending. 

He pulled her underwear down her hips and off of her entirely at her ankles, leaving her bare to the bitter, cold air of the room. As he moved back up her body, he slipped her feet over his shoulders. When he was fully pressed up against her, the backs of her knees would rest on his shoulders, giving him perfect access to her.

As he finally made the initial contact, Olive melted into his warmth, her body shaking underneath him. His movements were meticulous, yet gentle. He knew the shape of her body— her likes and dislikes— without ever having known them before. He gave her exactly what she needed and wanted.

And as she shook down from her high, his fingers were there, soothing her softly, tracing constellations between the freckles on her thighs. The tamber of his voice softly vibrated her skin.

Once he realized she’d come down, he was moving back up toward her face, seizing her lips in a kiss. She could taste herself on him, and she loved it.

Soon enough, he was pushing his boxers down his hips and settling himself above her, “are you sure you want this?” He asked.

Ever the caretaker, Lixie, Olive managed to think. “I’m sure, ‘need you,” she whispered to him.

“Okay,” he whispered back, “okay,” he convinced himself. His eyes were so kind, always making sure that she was okay. He never tore them away from her; not as he was pressing into her, or as she clawed at his back, or as he soothed her with his words and featherlight touches, or as they both climbed to heights they’d never seen before, and not even when the bond between them exploded like the night sky on the Fourth of July. She was his, and he would make sure she knew that, no matter what it took.

Every fear— every insecurity he’d had earlier in the day; any thoughts of alphas or dissatisfaction, they all went away when  he saw the way she was looking at him. Like he hung the moon in the sky, and like he painted the stars that followed. 

But she— she drew the sun. She was the reason that birds sang in the morning, and the reason that caterpillars metamorphosized into butterflies, and the reason that the grass was covered in dew in the early spring. 

And he had never been happier.

Five days. Olive’s heat had lasted five days. Throughout that time, someone, she presumed Minho, had consistently left food and water at the door, ensuring that she and Felix were fed.

As she came to that morning, Olive felt herself getting a bit shy. She had, after all, just given all of herself to Felix… for five days… straight.

If he was phased at all, though, he didn’t seem to show it, as Felix was as cuddly as ever, if not more.

They’d been cuddling in silence, just recuperating, for about an hour when Felix spoke, “I love you.”

Olive’s world stopped.

“What,” she whispered shakily. She stayed tucked into his chest, trying to avoid going into panic mode. She had to have heard him wrong.

“I love you, baby,” he repeated, affectionately nuzzling into her. Okay, so maybe she hadn’t heard him wrong. Maybe she had heard him entirely right, and maybe that was the problem.

As much as she wished it would, her heat hadn’t changed a thing. No matter how intimate, no matter how gentle he had been with her. He was an omega, he deserved an alpha. And Olive couldn’t be that for him. She never would be.

She sat up in the bed, entirely silent and too still for Felix’s liking.

“Baby?” He called behind her, “what’s wrong?” The longer she stayed silent, the more his face contorted with worry, eventually to the point where he sat up beside her.

When he tried to put his hand on her back to ground her, she flinched. She actually fucking flinched away from his touch.

She’d never felt more horrible as she moved to get off the bed. From where she stood on the other side of the room, huddled in on herself, Felix could see her shoulders trembling.

“Baby, whats-?” Felix tried, but was quickly cut off.

“I can’t do this,” Olive said, moving for the door.

“Wait!” Felix stopped her, his hand on her wrist where he stood beside her now.

Frantically, he searched her face for any tell, any sign that she didn’t mean what she was about to do, “whatever it is, you can tell me. I won’t be upset.”

When she stayed silent, her mouth slightly agape and her eyes scared, Felix continued, “if you regret it, that's okay, Baby, I promise. I’m okay,” the tears were breaching his waterline by now.

“You don’t love me? That's okay, I just wanted to tell you. You don’t have to love me, I’m sorry,” he cried, his voice wavering with every word.

“Felix, it's not-” her voice sounded pathetic, really. Her knees were shaking, and she found herself having no backbone to do what she had to do.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry,” the boy cried, pulling her face into his palms. Now, the tears were readily falling from both of their eyes.

“You didn’t do anything Felix, I just-” 

“I’ll never say it again, I promise,” god, no, she didn’t want that. She wanted to tell him she loved him for the rest of their lives. But she couldn’t, it wasn’t right.

Finally, Olive put her foot down, “Felix this isn’t right, okay?” She started, and her sudden, though mild, outburst had Felix shocked. His bottom lip set his face in a firm pout, as his dark, round eyes watered weakly at her.

“What’s not right?” He asked, “is it me?”

“Its not you, baby, I swear. It’s everything. It’s me,” she cried, trying to reason with him.

“I can’t be what you need, Lix,” she whimpered, her face pathetic and lacking meaning.

“What do you mean?” He looked at her confused and desperate, “you’re everything I’ve ever needed.”

“I’m not,” she cried, “you need an alpha. You deserve an alpha. And I can’t be that for you.”

“I don’t need a- what are you talking about, baby, please,” by now, Felix was sobbing and his knees were giving out beneath him. He came to kneel in front of her, his hands desperately clutching at her shirt, and his head pressing into her stomach. As if he could root her right there, in that spot, forever. As if he could will her to stay. “Please, baby, please don’t go,” he cried.

“You’re better off without me, Lix. You were happy before. You can be happy after me. I’m sorry,” she said, holding his face in her hands as she looked down at him.

“I love you, baby, please. Don’t do this to me. I love you,” he cried and begged, grovelling on his knees.

“I love you, Lix. I’m sorry.”

He felt as her legs made to move backward. Backward meant the door. The door meant the love of his life leaving him. “Liv, no,” he cried, reaching his hand out for her. But it was futile, he fell forward onto his hands. She was too far. She was walking away and he could do nothing about it.

She was leaving him. Just when he’d finally found her.

“Baby!” He yelled to no one. 

When Chan and Hyunjin rushed to his room, when she wasn’t right there behind him, he knew it was over.

The scream that tore through Felix’s throat was horrifying.

Admittedly, Jisung had neglected his mission for quite some time. Not that he meant to, but it seemed as though at every free moment, one of his pack members was dragging Olive off. Now, though, about a week after he’d made his initial promise, he was determined to do good by it.

That morning, Jisung had woken Olive up with a start, dragging her to her room from Felix’s under the guise of starting her nest.

The only problem was, Olive had no idea where to start. Was she just supposed to.. put things in random places until something stuck?

Evidently so, as Jisung asked, “where do you want to start?”

The two began meticulously working in the nest, with Olive telling Jisung where she wanted things, and him fulfilling her requests.

By the time they’d finished, they were completely wiped out. Olive flopped down into the nest, immediately feeling the comfort she so desired. She looked up, though, when she noticed that Jisung wasn’t joining her.

“Whats wrong?” She asked, leaning back on her hands to look at him inquisitively.

“I can’t just come in, bug,” Jisung giggled, “you have to get permission to come into an omega’s nest. 

Of course, she knew that. She’d asked for permission to come into Felix’s. She just hadn’t ever imagined them asking for her permission— she didn’t feel like they needed to, she wanted them there.

She looked at him with a baffled and jokingly annoyed expression, “come in, idiot.”

Finally, peace. 

Well, not exactly.

The pair had only cuddled for maybe thirty minutes, before they heard staggered, stumbling footsteps moving toward Olive’s room from the end of the hall. Most likely, it was either Chan or Jeongin, as that was where their rooms were in relation to hers. Her mind fell most prominently to the younger, however, as in the entire time she’d known Chan, she’d never once heard his footsteps.

The person seemed to stop outside of her door, and she and Jisung looked at each other, confused.

Eventually, when the silence outside her door stretched on for what felt like hours, Jisung sacrificed himself to get up and see if somebody needed something. Being nosy, however, Olive got up behind him anyway.

Jisung flung the door open, annoyed that his long-awaited cuddle session had been interrupted. The sight that met them, however, rendered the two omegas silent.

Olive had accurately predicted that it was Jeongin who stood outside, but something was.. wrong with him? He looked.. sweaty? She could tell he was overwhelmed and desensitized by the way his face was blank aside from his eyes, which were darker than she’d ever seen him.

“Omega,” the younger boy grumbled, trying to take a step forward. But before he could, Jisung was slamming the door in the alpha’s face, and locking it behind him.

“Shit,” he whispered, eyes wide and lost on what to do.

When he turned around, though, everything seemed to get ten-times worse.

Because Olive stood behind him, her eyes clouded over and a fresh bead of sweat rippled down her temple.

He was fucking screwed—

Because Jeongin was in rut,

and his rut had just triggered Olive’s very first heat.

At the top of his lungs, Jisung screamed, “Chan!” And before he knew it, footsteps came tumbling up the stairs— more than just Chan’s, he presumed. 

They discovered what he had before he even told them: a sweating, hunched Jeongin clawing at the door of Olive’s bedroom against his own will. The bedroom where not just one, but two omegas currently resided.

Olive had been so happy that morning— so smiley when Jisung had brought her downstairs in the middle of their nest-building session for a cereal break.

Now that Chan thought about it, he hadn’t seen Jeongin yet that morning. The red, circled, three-day span was approaching on the calendar, but it wasn’t quite there, yet. The pack alpha had been so stupid to assume that a brand new omega wouldn’t have an impact on his newly-presented mate so close to his rut. And now, he had to deal with it.

“Yena,” Chan rumbled, his voice dark and commanding, yet, still a touch of softness lingered for his mate. “Come with me,” he said, ushering the youngest alpha back to his room.

They hadn’t adequately planned for this, and now everybody was screwed.

Olive felt like she couldn’t move. In reality, she could if she tried hard enough— if she really wanted to, she could get up and run ten-thousand miles and never get tired. The fire burning inside her was endless, she felt insatiable. All she could think about was her angel of a mate, the one who probably sat downstairs worried out of his mind. The one whom she needed so badly.

Logically, she knew what this was, and she knew what was happening to Jeongin the second she’d seen him outside her door.

Dr. Lee had said her first heat would be difficult, but this was worse than she could’ve ever imagined.

On the bed, she writhed, trying to get a hold of herself; Jisung was still in the room, worrying after her. She wanted him to stop— she wanted him to leave, and to calm down somewhere with his mate, because she knew too much about him. She knew exactly what he was like, and she knew he couldn’t do this for much longer. To sit there, unable to do anything.

“Go,” she groaned at him, her eyes pleading, yet soft and comforting just for him.

“No,” he whimpered at her, "I'm not leaving you here alone. Channie hyung will know what to do, I won’t leave you,” he shook his head rapidly, wiping sweat and hair away from her face. 

“Please,” she paused, “please,” her voice got weaker on her second attempt. It was scratchy and low, and he could tell it was hurting her to use it at all.

Before he could deny her again, though, Hyunjin was at the door, “Jisung, we need you downstairs,” he said, his eyes sad as he stared at the helpless omegas.

“I can’t,” he whimpered, scared to let go of her, and scared her was her only lifeline.

“Please, Ji,” Olive pleaded with her steadiest voice, “I’m okay. I’ll be okay,” she nodded at him reassuringly, and something inside of Jisung told him that she was right. She’d survived those nineteen years with her cruel family, she would be strong until someone came up to help her.

So, against his better judgement, Jisung nodded just slightly, “okay, okay,” he tried to convince himself. “We’ll be back,” he said as he walked backward, never taking his eyes off of her, “you’re not going through this alone.”

And she believed him.

Jeongin had worked himself through the first wave of his rut with the help of his mate. When they were done, and when the younger had settled a bit, Chan asked after him.

“How do you wanna spend this, baby?” But before Chan could register his own question, his mate was sobbing in his arms.

“I don’t.. I can’t,” the boy stuttered, his words blubbery and ashamed. “I can’t believe I did that to her.”

“Baby, it's not your fault,” Chan soothed, taking the boy’s face in his hands and staring deeply into his eyes, as if trying to make him believe those words. “She knows that, she's not mad at you, Innie.”

“I’m dirty,” Jeongin said, wiping his hands across his face roughly as if it would quell the never-ending stream of tears from his eyes. 

“You’re not, baby. Please, just let me-” Chan tried to scoop his mate into his arms, but he was quickly pushed back by a weak force.

“Go, please. I wanna be alone. I’ll do it alone,” the younger whimpered, turning his back to his alpha.

Staring at Jeongin’s bare back and his trembling shoulders, Chan had never felt like a worse alpha in his life.

“Okay,” Minho said, taking charge as his pack alpha sat dejected in the corner of the sitting room, “we need to figure out how to help them both.”

“Yena wants to spend it alone,” Chan spoke softly from his chair, never looking up from his lap. “I’ll make sure to check on him and give him his food.” His voice was authoritative in nature, but he wasn’t all there, and the pack knew that. They all knew what had happened upstairs. They knew that all Chan wanted was to be a good alpha for his mate, but right now, he couldn’t, and that was killing him.

“Okay, Chan,” Changbin said, “just.. let us know if you or he needs anything, okay?”

The elder gave a muffled affirmative.

“In my opinion, this whole thing is stupid and confusing,”  Seungmin stated, his arms crossed and face irritated as he picked at his nails.

“What do you mean, Minnie?” Hyunjin asked his fellow beta and mate.

“Well, I just think that if she knew herself a little better, we wouldn’t be having all this trouble,” he responded, his tone fierce. There was an underlying bit of defensiveness and possession over the youngest alpha. As soon as the words came out of his mouth, Seungmin felt something crack inside of him— he’d been wrong, and he knew it before anyone had to tell him. He was just so caught up, and so scared for his best friend. He worried. He couldn’t help it. But Olive was here too, now, and she mattered, too. She deserved for someone to worry about her, too.

Across from him, Minho burst out, and his face hardened at Seungmin's harsh tone, "of course she's going crazy! She just got off suppressants for the first time in her life, it's natural that she would react that way,” in the short time he’d known her, Minho had become incredibly attached to Olive, probably head to head with Felix, if not just behind. He wouldn’t let his pack member talk down on an innocent, tortured person like that— he just wouldn’t.

"He's right," Chan added, his voice still detached, "if we're going to find a way to help them both, then we need to work together, not against each other. It's nobody's fault.”

Meanwhile, Felix was going insane— no matter what he did, he couldn't get his leg to stop bouncing, and his nails were nubs by now from how much he'd bitten them. He was sick to his fucking stomach.

He needed to get upstairs to his mate. She was suffering, and instead of letting him go to her, his pack had him down here for something that didn’t even need to be discussed.

“Just ask her what she wants,” Jisung said, his voice faint from where he curled into his mate’s side for comfort “ask her who she wants.”

And suddenly, Felix found his stomach souring— like he was going to throw up. What if she didn’t pick him? What if she needed— what if she wanted an alpha. 

He’d sooner die.

“I’ll go,” Chan said, needing an excuse to get out of the room anyways, “sit tight, I’ll be back.”

His walk up the stairs felt like a million years to Felix.

As Chan walked into Olive’s room, her scent hit him like a semi-truck. Dr. Lee had been right— this was intense, this had to be hell for her.

“Baby,” he said pathetically, urging his feet to her bedside.

As he reached to cradle her head, she cried, “Channie, hurts.”

He replied, stroking her hair back “I know, baby, I know. We’re gonna help you, okay? We just need to know what you need— who you need.”

She didn’t need to, but nevertheless, Olive tried to think for a moment.

Then, she finally answered to his watering eyes.

“Lix,” she whined, “I need Lixie,” another tear fell down her cheek at the surge of pain in her abdomen. A string of whimpers and pleas began to fall from her lips as Chan rose from her bedside with a kiss to her head.

“Okay, baby,” Chan soothed, “he’s coming. Lix is coming.”

Olive’s eyes peeled open cruelly to the morning sun. Something was brushing across her forehead, and her pillow felt especially soft, considering it was typically only an inch thick.

Oh, right, she’d fallen asleep on top of Felix last night.

She had to admit, she’d never been more comfortable in her life; his arms were wrapped securely around her, and his right hand came to stroke her temples softly, naturally decompressing her without a nerve.

“Good morning, omega,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to her hairline.

“Hi, Lixie,” she said shyly, cuddling into him a bit further. Really, the nickname had been an accident, but when she heard Felix purr beneath her, she didn’t regret a thing. Olive was really starting to warm up to the whole idea of having an omega as a mate, especially considering it was him.

Still, though, her fathers voice lingered in the back of her head— calling her a mistake, calling her sinful.

But could something sinful be so.. Good? She’d be damned if she let her father rule her life, that she had known for a while, but it was about time she took herself back into her own hands.

“I won’t be able to take you to your appointment today, so Hyunjin agreed to go with you. Is that okay?” Felix asked, now sitting up and looking down at her where she lay.

“That's okay!” She responded, with a chubby smile.

Felix leaned down to kiss her forehead, “you’re happy this morning, baby. What's up?” He remarked, stroking her nested hair away from her face.

“I don’t know,” Olive started, melting into his hand a bit, “I just feel.. Comfortable,” she finished with a shrug.

The blond broke out in a cheesy smile, “that’s perfect, Livie. You can always be comfortable here with us. With me,” the boy giggled happily before hopping up to grab her a pair of clothes.

“I have classes this morning, so Hyunjin will go to your appointment with you. Afterwards, Changbin will pick you both and I up, and we’ll all head to the shops together!” He cheered, picking an oversized t-shirt and some baggy jeans, sliding them her way with a belt in tow. 

With another kiss to her forehead, and a fit of giggles from Olive as he poked her sides, Felix was off to class.

Olive supposed she should probably get ready. She was glad her mate had long hair like hers, otherwise it would have been a manhunt to find a hairbrush anywhere in this house.

As she slipped his clothes on, the smell of her mate enveloped her. Olive couldn’t help but to purr, and, as if he’d heard it from two doors down, Jisung was soon hopping through the doorway.

“Hi, baby!” He yipped, coming to kiss her cheek. “I’ve got something for you— it's a phone so you can get to any of us if you need something,” he held out the device. Secretly, Olive had always wanted one, but nevertheless, she was forced to watch her brother get the newest model each year while she got zip.

“Thank you,” she said shyly, giving the omega a smile.

“Of course, cutie!” He said, nestling her into his arms. “I thought that maybe tonight, we could try and make you a nest, have you had one before?” Jisung questioned, pulling back to look at her face.

“Oh!” She said, “no, I haven’t. My parents thought it was weird, but I always kind of wanted to.”

“Well,” Jisung said, his face becoming a bit cloudy at that thought: the omega— their omega— wanting so badly to experience the comfort of a nest, but being absolutely helpless. He’d make sure she never felt that way again. “I’ll make sure to tell Changbin to take you to the shop that Felix and I get our materials from, you’ll love it!” He moved to just holding her hand, “for now, thought, lets go to breakfast! Minho hyung made pancakes!”

Jisung was right, the pancakes had been amazing. Perfectly fluffy and sweet. At the table, she had sat next to Jeongin, who made sure to pile extra syrup and bacon on her plate.

Now, she was standing by the doorway as Hyunjin bundled her up in a coat, scarf, and hat. When she asked why he was being so excessive, he simply said, “omegas get cold quickly.”

Changbin came to the threshold and slipped his coat on, patting the omega on her cotton-clad head with a cheesy smile.

Hyunjin made sure to leave a kiss on Seungmin’s cheek, and then he was dragging the alpha and omega out the door to the car.

The scenery on the way to the doctor’s office was beautiful. Olive had never really found herself in a township, or, rather, city like this— her time outside was limited as it was. Within the next few weeks, snow would begin to fall in thick, fluffy sheets, and Olive couldn’t help but to imagine herself curled up with Felix in front of the fire. God, she was falling hard.

About halfway through the drive, Hyunjin stopped singing along to the radio, and turned to face Olive where she sat in the backseat. “How are you feeling, babe?” He asked.

“I’m okay,” Olive assured, though Hyunjin was sure he believed her, and judging by the look Changbin gave her in the rearview, he didn’t believe her, either.

“You’re not. I can practically smell your nerves” Hyunjin accused with a raised eyebrow, "what's up?”

Olive sighed before giving in, “I’m just a little nervous, is all. I’ve never been to the doctor’s office” she shrugged, looking down into her lap. 

Hyunjin reached his hand into the backseat, grabbing for hers. “You’ve got no reason to be afraid, Livie. We’ve been sending Lixie and Jisungie there for years, and they love Doctor Lee! If you want, I can even come into the room with you.” Hyunjin’s words did much to quell her nerves, and Olive relaxed into her seat a bit.

“Okay,” she nodded, forcing the tears away from her waterline, “thank you, Jinnie.”

“Always, babe,” he said with a wink, pulling his hand back and turning back into his seat.

Only moments later, they were rolling up to the parking lot for the clinic. Hyunjin fiercely took hold of her hand as she stepped out of the car, and he didn’t let go. Not while they walked in the door, not while Changbin checked her in at the counter, and not even when Doctor Lee came to collect her for her appointment. 

“Hi, Olive,” the woman greeted kindly, “it’s my understanding that you’d like Hyunjin to come with you?”

“Yes please,” Olive answered shyly, holding on to the beta’s arm, “if that's okay?”

“Of course that's okay!” Doctor Lee assured, “you can follow me on back.”

Changbin pressed a kiss to her hair and gave her an assuring smile, "I'll be right here waiting when you’re done.”

The examination room smelled… sterile, and her nerves only heightened as Hyunjin helped her hop onto the paper-covered table. Dr. Lee brought over a chair for him to sit in.

“Okay, Olive! It’s nice to meet you, my name is Doctor Lee, and it's my understanding that you’re here today due to some concerns about heat supplements?”

“Um, yes,” Olive started, “I was on them for a long time, and then Chan said that wasn’t good so I should come to the doctor.”

Dr. Lee’s expression softened with sympathy, “indeed. Heat supplements are only meant to be a temporary fix, for about two or three months. Can I ask how long you’ve been on them?”

“Since I was fourteen, so.. five years,” Olive responded ashamedly. 

“Alright, we’re gonna get you off of that. And to dim any side effects, I wanna put you on supplemental birth control, just for the next few months while you’re adjusting. After that, we can talk about it if you wanna stay on that, okay?”

“Okay, thank you,” Olive nodded.

“Of course,” the woman responded. Her aura was very comforting to Olive, motherly almost. She really was just there to help. “I do have to warn you that since you’ve been on suppressants for so long, your heat is going to come quickly, and it's going to be intense. That's not to scare you, I’d just advise you to be prepared and be around people who can help you when the time comes.” Hyunjin brought his hand to stroke her thigh and gave her a reassuring smile— one that said we’ll be there for you.

The rest of the appointment went by in a blur, and Olive gradually realized she really had no reason to be nervous at all. Dr. Lee was a very nice, middle-aged beta, and she wouldn’t mind having her perform future appointments and things like that. She and Hyunjin walked out the door with a new prescription, and a promise to Dr. Lee that Olive would check in soon.

Changbin stood when he saw them enter the lobby, immediately opening his arms for Olive to hug him. When she did, he asked, “how did it go?”

Olive, too lost in the scent of an alpha, couldn’t bring herself to answer, so Hyunjin stepped in.

“It went well,” he started, “she did a great job, too. Didn’t you, omega?” He patted her on the head, to which she nodded. He and the alpha could both see that, due to Changbin’s scent and the nerves of the day catching up to her, she was falling into a mild subspace. They supposed it was good that they were going to get Felix right after this— he’d be able to comfort her more.

“Dr. Lee put her on supplemental birth control. She said she’ll probably go into heat soon, and that we should be there when she does. It's going to be intense because she’s never had one,” Hyunjin said, leading the pair out the door and toward the car as Changbin wrapped his arm around the omega’s shoulders. The alpha made a note to tell Chan and Felix as soon as possible.

Hyunjin forewent the passenger seat on the way to pick up Felix, feeling as though it was probably safer to soothe her further into subspace rather than rip her out of it. Her breath was soft against his neck for the whole ride, and he found himself getting a bit sleepy, too.

As they rolled up outside of Felix’s university, Olive woke up as if she could smell him already. Hyunjin took that as his notice to move back to the passenger seat so Felix could sit with his mate.

“Hi, my baby,” Felix said, slipping into the seat next to her. Immediately, he could sense her subspace, so he pulled her into his side so she could scent him.

“Hi, Lixie,” she said drowsily, nuzzling into his neck as she fell back asleep.

“How did her appointment go?” The blond asked nervously.

“It went well,” Hyunjin crooned from the front, now buckling his seatbelt. “She was very brave today, but Dr. Lee said she’ll probably go into heat soon.”

“Thats my baby,” Felix said, patting her hair, and then Changbin was taking off for the shops.

The thirty minute nap must’ve been enough for Olive, because as they pulled up to the mall, she was awake and livelier than ever. Strange, the effects that a good scenting session and a bit of subspace could have on someone.

“Are you excited, bunny?” Changbin asked, turning around to look at her once he’d parked.

“Mhm!” She cheered, “I’ve never been to the mall before!”

“Get whatever you want,” the alpha said, coming around to her as she got out of the car, “it's on me,” and with a wink, he was off with the rest following.

As if sensing her discomfort (which he probably was) at having things bought for her, Felix grabbed her hand in his and said, “don’t worry about it. That's Changbinnie’s love language.”

She shyly giggled as they began looking through all the stores.

“Okay, checklist!” Felix started, “we need to get you nesting supplies, clothes, hygiene products… Am I missing anything?” He asked the group.

“Anything she wants,” Hyunjin joked. Olive giggled as the boy began searching through clothing racks.

From a few rows over, Changbin held up an item. It was a white, babydoll cut blouse. “This is cute,” he said, and Olive’s eyes lit up.

“Agreed,” Felix said, “put it in the cart.” They continued in the same pattern for the next hour or so, until the boys were satisfied with the fullness of the cart. Really, Olive would’ve been fine with only a few outfits, but the boys had insisted, and the beta and omega were already dragging her to the nesting store while their alpha paid.

When they noticed her hesitating in the doorway, the boys stopped and turned to her, "what's wrong, baby?” Felix asked, coming toward her and looking into her eyes with concern.

“I don’t know how this works,” Olive whispered. “I don’t know what to pick.”

“Well, how Jisung and I do it is, we just walk around the store and we touch things until we find something we like! When we get home, we like to ask for the pack to scent things. ” He cheered, rubbing a soothing hand on her back.

“Right,” Olive responded, feeling a bit dumb. That made a bit more sense than she was willing to admit at the moment.

“Come,” Felix said, “I’ll bring you to the blankets!”

After a few hours, they were leaving the mall, and Olive felt content with everything she’d picked out. She couldn’t wait to put on her new clothes and show everyone what the boys picked for her.

When they finally got home, Hyunjin was dragging her out of the car alongside a new plush bunny Changbin had picked for her, “come on! Lets show the pack Lord Fluffernutter,” he said in reference to the affectionate name they’d given the rabbit. 

“Kk,” Olive giggled, walking happily alongside the beta.

Felix smiled brightly at her departing figure, and then he turned to the trunk to help Changbin with the bags.

At the door, Chan waited for the group to return.

“Hello, Olive! And who is this?” He asked jokingly in reference to the stuffed animal in her arms.

She looked and Hyunjin and the pair burst out laughing, “this is Lord Fluffernutter— Big Nut for short,” she spoke with confidence. Chan couldn’t help but fold over laughing.

“Well, hello Mr. Nut, sir, it is a pleasure to meet you!” He concluded with a bow. Olive tugged him into a hug, which he gratefully returned. “Once you settle in, come find me, okay?” 

“Okay,” she agreed, skipping off to help the boys with the bags of her clothes. When they refused, she walked back inside with a pout, but started organizing the items anyway.

When all the items were finally unpacked in her room, she went off to find Chan as promised. Eventually, she found him in his home studio with his headphones tucked tightly over his ears. She knocked to make herself known, and he immediately turned her way.

“Hi baby,” he said, opening his arms.

Olive moved forward and shyly settled on his lap, “why do you all call me baby, huh?” She teased.

“Because you’re our baby,” he said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Whatever,” she giggled, leaning back against him, “what did you want to talk about?”

“Changbin called me while you were at the mall today, and he let me know that Dr. Lee said you’d have your heat soon. I wanted to chat about how you wanted to spend it,” he explained.

“What do you mean.. Spend it?” Olive asked.

“Well, do you want to spend it with someone? If so, who do you want to spend it with? If you want to spend it alone, do you want to do it in the pack nest or in your nest?” He rubbed his hand up and down her back.

“Slow down,” Olive said, overwhelmed. “I haven’t really.. thought about it yet, I guess?”

“Thats okay,” Chan soothed, “just let me know when you decide, yeah? Any one of us is willing to help you if needed, so don’t be shy.”

A moment passed of comfortable silence, until Chan spoke up again, “we should also talk about..” he paused, “your status in the pack.”

Olive could tell he was feeling shy, so she decided to take the reins, “what? You mean like, if I wanna join?”

“Well, yeah,” he started, “you’re Felix’s mate, sure. But that's not the only reason. We’ve all talked about it, and we really like you, and we want you in our pack. You fit in with us, and we want you here,” he finished earnestly.

“Well, okay,” Olive said, flushing suddenly. “How would that work?”

“You’d get the bite of your mate first, and then the pack alpha, so me and Felix. With your mate you’d have a ceremony, probably, but mine would just be to bring you into the pack bond,” he smiled at the thought of the ceremony between his two omegas.

Olive had to admit, the idea was appealing. But she’d just met these people— was she ready for that? “Can I think about it for a bit?” She asked.

“Of course you can, honey.”

A knock echoed from the door, and the voice outside confirmed it was Minho. “Chan, get off of her. It’s my turn,” the alpha complained.

“Fine,” Chan called back, helping the omega up as her face filled with innocent confusion.

Chan opened the door to Minho with his hand on the omega’s back, “bring her back in one piece,” he teased.

“Yeah , yeah, whatever,” Minho said, rolling his eyes mockingly at the pack alpha as he led Olive to the sitting room.

When Olive asked why he’d pulled her to chat, he simply answered with something along the lines of ‘getting to know her better’, followed by a mutter of ‘you smell good’ under his breath as he led the way to the sitting room. That, she was pretty sure she was not supposed to hear, so she stayed silent.

That was how she ended up where she was now: straddling Minho’s lap on the couch in a koala hug, with her head pressed against his chest as they cuddled. His nose was tucked into her hair and his hands made a continuous loop up and down her thighs, breeching the sides of her middle, and then back down again, tracing the curves of her body.

His breathing was soft— almost melodic, and combined with his pine scent? It was the perfect potion to send her into dreamland.

Really, they had talked for a while: just small things, like their families, food, and, surprisingly enough, cats. She found out that Minho was incredibly fond of the animals, and had had them all whilst growing up— but Jisung was allergic, so he couldn't have one here. 

He noticed her relaxing into his, so he soothed her into subspace for the second time that day. “My kitty,” he purred, “you did so good today. Binnie told me you were nervous about your appointment, but you did it anyway, didn’t you? My brave girl, good kitty.”

She felt herself falling further and further into sleep, and she’d never felt more grateful for someone in her life.

She wouldn’t ever tell Felix this, but she’d been more nervous than she let on that morning, thinking of every possible scenario in which Dr. Lee would tell her that there was something wrong with her. She was defective, she was messed up, and worst of all she wasn’t good enough for her mate or his pack. She was an omega, and Felix didn’t deserve that— he deserved a loving alpha who could take care of him, who could do everything that she couldn’t do for him

When he noticed her zoning out, Minho asked, "what’s fogging up your mind, now, kitty?"

Olive sleepily replied, "It's nothing, sorry."

Minho just looked unimpressed when he pulled her by the scruff of her neck away from his chest as if she were an actual kitten. “Don't lie to me,” he’d said.

The pair held eye contact for a moment, as if it were a challenge, but Minho's eyes were so piercing and Olive couldn't hold out for long.

"Fine," she sighed, "it's just... you're really intuitive, you always know what I need. So I just wanted to say thank you," she shyly looked away.

Minho was silent for a moment, before bursting out, "aegi! Such a sweet omega we have! My baby aegi," he tackled her on to her back, pinching her cheeks and ruffling her hair.

She broke out in an inevitable fit of giggles, lightly batting his hands to get him to stop. When he finally did, he'd pulled her back onto his lap, muttering 'omega' once again with a fond smile, and then tucked her head back into his chest.

And that was how Jisung found them when he came downstairs in search of his mate after a shower.

Really, he didn’t intend to wake them, but they were just so cute!

“Aegiiiii!!!” He mewed, purring as he came up to Olive’s side to get in on the cuddle action.

Olive startled awake on top of Minho, but quickly settled when she saw the face of the omega she’d been missing all day.

“Jisungie,” Olive practically whimpered as the omega pulled the girl off of his mate and onto him instead. Instantly, she nuzzled into his neck and purred.

Minho crooned at the sight in front of him. He stood to pat his mate on the head and departed, saying “careful not to scent her too much— she’s already in subspace.”

He found the pair in the same exact spot, Felix behind him, when he came to collect them for dinner. Gently, he shook Jisung awake, and it was evident that the boy had worked himself into a subspace, as well.

Minho clicked his tongue lovingly, “aw, Jisung’s being good for the new omega, huh?” Jisung nodded hazily, mumbling something about ‘so good.’

“Come on,” the alpha said, “come eat some dinner, and you can cuddle her more after,” he pulled his mate up, leaving Felix to wake up the younger girl.

“Hi, my baby,” he said softly, stroking some hair away from her forehead.

“Hi, Lixie,” she whispered, cracking her eyes open to look at her mate. 

“You’re tired, aren’t you?” He said, pulling her up to sit against him. ‘So cute’, he thought, squeezing his eyes shut and forcing himself to look away. He couldn’t let her drag him into soft, sleepy, omegaland— not when she needed to eat. Right, she needed to eat, “come eat something, yeah? We can have a big cuddle party after if you’re good!”

Olive smiled, allowing Felix to pull her up, simply responding, “m’kay,” as she made the trudge to the dining room.

A series of coos broke out as Felix helped her into her seat, “our omega had a long day, didn’t she,” Jeongin said from across the table.

“She sure did,” Chan affirmed, “let's eat up and get this cutie to bed, yeah?”

And everyone complied.

Jisung decided later that night that Olive was far from conscious enough to begin constructing her nest, so they’d have to reconvene in the morning.

That night, Felix brought her to his room, sensing that she needed the touch and attention.

“How are you feeling, baby?” He asked, facing her as they both laid down.

“I’m good. My omega is really happy,” Olive giggled.

“Thats good, sunshine,” he laughed in response, moving to kiss her nose.

It seemed that Olive had the same idea, though, because before Felix could even register it, his lips were firmly pressed against hers and everything had slowed down drastically.

Her lips were so soft, and she tasted so good— like a cinnamon bun, he thought.

And to Olive, Felix was everything. He tasted like a warm latte in the wintertime. 

But then, at the same time, she was nervous. She hadn’t meant to kiss him— not so soon. What if he was upset? 

Her nerves, though, were soon quelled; Felix was pulling back from her with a soft smile, which she sheepishly returned. He pecked her lips one last time, before he said, “goodnight, omega.”

“ ‘night, ‘mega,” she responded, before finally falling asleep.

The house they approached was beautiful. It was dark and wooden, and larger than any house she’d ever seen. The roof sat at a slant that she could just envision snow sitting on in the winter time. 

Hyunjin’s hand on her back urged her forward, combined with Minho’s encouraging words, “go on,” he’d said.

As she stepped through the threshold, she heard Chan speak from behind her, “we didn’t want you to be overwhelmed, so we’ll introduce you to everybody one by one rather than all at once.”

“Okay,” she responded, stopping by the door, not really knowing where to go.

“First order of business,” Minho said, “let's get you some warmer clothes. Then, you can meet the omegas.”

With that, Hyunjin was ushering her up the stairs to his room. While, yes, she was nervous and slightly unsettled, this house also brought her a sense of calm and peace that she’d never felt before.

There had been a consistent buzzing in her chest, warm and all consuming, like something life-changing was about to happen, but she had no idea what that could be.

As they stepped into his room, Hyunjin was immediately grabbing clothes for her: a hoodie, which would be much too large on her, but it’d do, and a pair of sweatpants that had been cut at the knee to become a mock pair of shorts.

From the hall, she could hear Chan and Minho follow them up, likely gathering the omegas in question. Then, she heard four pairs of footsteps descend the stairs. 

It was only then that she turned her attention back to Hyunjin, who held the clothes out to her with a gentle smile.

“I’ll step out so you can get changed. Just, come back downstairs when you’re done, yeah?” With that, he patted her on the head gently and made his exit.

It didn’t take her long to change, and Hyunjin’s clothes may have been the most comfortable thing she’d ever worn. She currently stood at the bottom of the stairs, trying to sense anyone around her to get a direction of where she should go. Soon enough, though, Minho must have smelt her trouble, because he was walking around the corner to escort her to the sitting room.

The moment she crossed the doorway to the room— the second she looked up— that humming she’d been feeling in her chest? It exploded like a 7th grade science experiment.

In front of her stood a man, probably five or six inches taller than her, with long, blond hair, the most piercing eyes, and freckles for days.

She almost felt bad that she couldn’t even focus on the chubby-cheeked man beside him.

It was evident that he noticed her too, as his mouth sort of gaped like that of a fish: opening, and closing, and opening again.

Minho sensed her sudden change in attitude by the way she stiffened. She’d come to notice (and be incredibly grateful for the fact) that Minho was very intuitive— he could always tell what somebody needed. He was behind her, and steadying her before her knees gave out.

“Olive,” he started softly, softer than anyone had ever spoken to her before, “what’s wrong?”

But before she could answer, there was a growl from across the room, “mate,” the blond purred.

FELIX POV.

Felix could hardly breathe. He’d never felt so sick in his life. 

All these years, a thousand days, he’d remained the only member of his pack with no mate. And now, there she was, standing in front of him. They’d found her for him. They’d brought her to him.

Finally, she was here.

He’d dreamt about her on countless occasions— her scent was sweet, like cinnamon and baked goods, everything he loved about the world.

He wanted to bury his nose in all of her: her hair, her neck, her soul— she was his.

He found himself taking a step toward her, his instincts taking over him, “ ‘mega,” he murmured, unable to tear his eyes away from her.

Never in his life had he wanted to care for someone more. Sure, it was in his nature as an omega to be conscious and take care of those around him— but this? This was different. She was different.

“Are you okay?” Hyunjin asked, stepping in front of the girl.

“Mate,” she whimpered, stepping forward, just slightly out of Minho’s grasp.

Then, Felix was surging for her, taking her into his arms, and digging his nose into her hair.

He almost collapsed as she melted into his body.

He would take care of her. Forever.

3RD POV.

“Um, not to ruin the mood,” Jisung started, “but what the hell is going on?”

“They’re mates,” Chan answered, with a frazzled look on his face.

“I was not expecting that,” Hyunjin muttered quietly.

“Are you kidding?” Jisung blurted, “they don’t even know each other’s names!”

“Wolves want what they want, Jisungie,” Minho said, walking forward to collect his shell-shocked mate.

“I think she's calm enough for now,” Chan spoke, “I’ll go grab the rest of the pack to meet her.”

And by the time everyone else came down the stairs, they were already gossiping and whispering about their pack member’s mate.

Their thoughts were only confirmed when they found the pair, now sitting on the couch, with Felix preening over the girl. 

“Okay, Felix,” Chan said, clapping his hands together to grab everyone’s attention as they settled into various seats around the room, “get off of her for a second, we need to have a discussion.”

“Sorry,” the blond omega said, “I couldn’t help myself,” he turned slightly, with a wink and a charismatic grin at his mate. To this, she flushed and fixed her gaze on her hands in her lap.

Meanwhile, Olive had never been more stuck in her own thoughts. This couldn’t be fucking real. She could tell by his scent that her mate was an omega— but she was an omega. And those two things weren’t supposed to mesh. At the same time, she was so incredibly drawn to him. His scent was infatuating, and she could tell already that his kindness knew no bounds. 

But all her life, Olive had been groomed to mate an alpha, and she couldn’t just let that be.

“We found Olive in the woods earlier this evening,” Chan started, “she was being surged by a rogue alpha,” at this, her mate seemed to tense. “We decided it would be best if she stayed with us for the night so we could ensure she was safe, but it seems, now, there's a different conversation to be had,” he finished with a cheeky smile and raised an eyebrow at his packmate and the girl.

“This is so awesome!” A cheery looking boy with kind eyes and a wide smile said, “I’m Jeongin, by the way,” he followed with a wave.

“Hi, Jeongin,” Olive responded with a small smile.

“Oh, right. Maybe we should introduce ourselves,” Minho suggested, “I’m Minho, I’m twenty-five, and I’m an alpha, but you already know that.”

“I’m Jisung!” Said the boy curled up next to Minho, with the chubbiest cheeks she’d ever seen. He was incredibly cute. “I’m twenty-three, and I’m an omega.. And I think we’re gonna be best friends!” he finished.

“Hyunjin, twenty-three, beta, and here for the taking, beautiful,” he winked. He was so incredibly cheeky, and Olive found herself charmed by that.

“I’m Changbin, twenty-four, alpha, and he is not for the taking,” the muscular man said, wrapping an arm around the lanky beta, “sorry,” he whispered at the end with a friendly smile.

Hyunjin pouted playfully and the next boy continued.

“Seungmin. I’m twenty-three and I'm a beta. It’s nice to meet you,” the boy with puppy eyes said monotonously. She was immediately entranced by him, especially. Why, she wasn’t quite sure. Additionally, she noticed he was also curled into Changbin’s side. Maybe they were a throuple? She’d never really seen a relationship like theirs in real life, but she found the three cute nonetheless.

“I already told you my name, but I’m twenty-two, and I’m an alpha,” Jeongin added, smiling kindly at her again. She was sure they’d be great friends, and he was closer to her age than anyone else here.

“Chan,” the alpha kindly waved, “you know I’m an alpha, but I’m twenty-six.”

And, finally, “I’m Felix,” the omega next to her said, and her heart nearly melted, “I’m an omega, I’m twenty-three, and I’m your mate!” He cheered, rubbing at her knuckles with his thumb.

Then, she assumed she should probably introduce herself. She looked up to meet all of their eyes nervously, finding comfort in those of her mate. 

“My name is Olive,” she started, "I'm an omega, and I'm," she trailed off, looking at the clock in the corner of the room before deciding her answer. It read ‘12:46’. “I’m nineteen,” she finished.

Felix must have caught on to her brief glance at the clock, “is it your birthday, ‘mega?” He asked, stroking her thigh now.

She nodded silently.

Minho, from across the room, frowned. She was too young to be out in the world on her own. He looked at Chan, and he could tell they shared the same thought.

“Well, happy birthday, Olive,” the pack alpha said kindly, and everyone else soon followed, with Hyunjin getting up to kiss her on the head before returning to his seat, and Jisung coming to worm himself in between Chan and Olive, immediately cuddling up to her side. 

“Do you…wanna tell us what happened?” Jeongin asked gently. Despite his young age and recent presentation, the boy was incredibly intuitive and welcoming to everyone.

“I..” Olive started, feeling Jisung take her hand to comfort her, “I ran away,” she concluded.

From across the room, Hyunjin, Changbin, and Seungmin, urged her on with kind, encouraging smiles.

“My family…well…I was supposed to be mated to an alpha,” she revealed, and several small gasps broke out in the room.

Then, she continued, “my dad is the alpha of our pack, which means there's expectations on me. I’m the only omega in our pack, like, ever, and he always treated me differently for it,” she took a shaky breath. “I was always locked in my room, and only let out for appearances and dinner. On my nineteenth birthday— so, today, I was supposed to be mated to an alpha. I was bred for it my whole life, I was taught that it was my only purpose— to serve an alpha. My father wanted me gone, and he was willing to do anything. So he was gonna get rid of me. He knew that the alpha he picked was cruel, and that I probably wouldn’t survive the mating. But last night, my brother left the door to my room unlocked, so I ran.”

Felix’s hand clenched on her thigh, and she could practically feel Chan bristling on the other side of Jisung. 

“You’re staying here,” Changbin blurted. He didn’t show it on his face, but he was absolutely furious. 

“I agree,” Chan said, and a series of nods followed.

“Oh, that's okay,” Olive said, “I don’t intend to take advantage of your kindness any longer. You’ve already done more than enough,” she denied, rising from the couch sheepishly.

But before she could go anywhere, Felix was there, rising from the couch beside her and gently grabbing her wrist. Without her noticing, the rest of the pack also came to stand in various areas around the room.

“Baby, please,” Felix begged, and his pet name made her flush, “they’re cruel. I’m not letting you go back there,” his tears stayed cemented to his waterline. He had to stay calm, he couldn’t risk losing his mate— not when he’d finally gotten her.

“He’s right,” Chan said, moving toward them slightly, “we have more than enough room here. I can’t let you go back there in good faith. Your mate is here. You could have a life here,” the pack alpha offered, with a nearly wrecked look on his face. He’d seen her at her worst, battered, bloody, bruised, and he’d be damned if he let her go back now, after everything. He’d be damned if he let Felix’s mate walk out that door.

“I don’t know,” Olive muttered, her instincts pushing her to move back just slightly toward Felix. He took this as an opportunity to lock an arm around her and look into her misty eyes.

“It’s settled. You’re staying,” Minho said, moving from his spot to enter the kitchen, which she could see behind the couch, “I’m going to make us some food, it’s been a long day.”

It was only 30 minutes later that they all sat around the dining room table, her, in between Hyunjin and Jisung, as they’d beat her mate to either seat.

He settled for the next best thing, which was the seat directly across from her.

Despite the late hour, Olive found herself hungrier than ever. So, when Minho plated the food in front of them, she spoke a genuine ‘thank you’, and immediately tucked into the meal.

But then, from across the table, she watched as Felix prayed over his food, as did Jeongin next to him. She wished she could believe in someone— something like that: all-consumingly.

Now, though, all she could feel was that everything she had been told her whole life was a lie. 

In her pack, omegas were with Alphas or they were exiled. The same went for betas. She couldn’t help but feel a sinking sense of dread when she looked up at her mate across from her. He was so kind, and he had taken such good care of her already. But he was an omega, and she only knew that to be sinful and wrong.

So it could never happen. Not while she was still like this. She needed to fix herself— for him, and for herself. She had no idea how, but she supposed this, being here, was a good start. And that didn’t mean she couldn’t get to know her mate in the meantime.

Across the table, Jeongin whispered for only Felix to hear, “you’re whipped, dude,” he said cheekily, as he watched his hyung stare helplessly at the meek girl across the table.

Felix could tell something was wrong. She’d been quiet before, but this was unusual. She was in her head.

At the younger’s comment, Felix simply elbowed the boy, snapping out of his mate-induced haze.

“It's not an insult!” The boy said, “we’re all really happy for you, Lixie,” Felix just fiddled with the food on his plate.

“I don’t know how to talk to her,” he mumbled, “I can tell she’s in her head, and I don’t know how to help.”

Jeongin could see that the blond was absolutely destroyed. It was his passion to take care of people, his pack, his family, and now his mate. So to suddenly not know what to do to help someone? He couldn’t imagine just how horrible his hyung was feeling.

“You’re her mate. You’ve been waiting for her all your life,” the younger started, “she said she was bred to serve an alpha, yeah? Maybe you’ve gotta convince her that isn’t true.”

When his hyung didn’t respond, too lost in his own thoughts, Jeongin continued, “I mean, think about it: she’s been taught one thing all her life— omegas serve alphas— and then she comes here, and there's alphas in relationships with alphas, and betas in relationships with alphas, and now she's an omega mated to an omega. That's gotta be pretty earth-shattering, no? She's probably confused,” and with a shrug, he tucked back into his food, leaving Felix to his own devices.

Was his dongsaeng right? If that was the case, he had some serious work to do if he wanted Olive to trust him. And yeah, she must be really confused, and really scared, and all he wanted now was to make sure she never had to feel that way again.

His thoughts were interrupted when Chan spoke up, “alright everybody listen up.”

“Olive, since you’ll be joining us indefinitely, we wanted to let you know how things work in our pack,” he said. When Olive’s eyebrows scrunched in fear, he corrected himself, “sorry, that sounds scary, huh?” He chuckled, “I just mean, pack rules, yeah?” His words, combined with Jisung’s soothing hand on her back, had her calming down in seconds.

“The rules are that there's no rules,” Seungmin interjected.

“Short and sweet, huh?” Chan chuckled, “we just want you to know that you don’t have to be scared to come to us for things. You’re welcome here for as long as you please, even if that's forever. If you have any questions, we’re happy to answer. We also have some questions for you, if that's okay?”

“Questions are okay,” Olive said, “shoot.”

The pack shared a collective look, then Minho broke the ice, “well, we need to know when your next heat is, so we can adequately prepare for you.”

“Oh,” she said, a sheepish smile on her face as she waved her hands in front of her, “that won’t be a problem! I’m on suppressants.”

“Wait, baby,” Felix said, now intently focused on her, “you take suppressants, like, regularly? For how long?”

Olive’s eyebrows wrinkled in confusion, her eyes innocent and her lips almost forming a pout, “um, well, I’ve always been on them? When I presented, my dad just gave me them and told me to take one everyday, so I did,” she shrugged, feeling a bit dumb.

“Baby, that's not good,” Chan said, “we’ll have to get you in to see Dr. Lee as soon as possible,” without the alpha having to tell him, Hyunjin rose to make the call to the doctor’s office.

“Oh, okay,” she said meekly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”

“Never apologize for what those people did to you, Olive,” her mate said, getting up from his seat across from her and moving to take Hyunjin’s now that the beta was gone.

His arms came to wrap around her, and Olive found herself settling in to him. Out of instinct, Felix pulled her to sit on his lap. She was more comfortable than she’d ever been.

“Last question, I promise,” Chan said with a comforting smile, “what are your boundaries, about anything? Is there anything you definitely don’t want us to do around you?”

Olive thought for a second, before responding, “not really. I like cuddling and all that, so that's okay.”

“Okay, good, cause you’re really warm,” Jisung said, moving into Olive’s old seat to cuddle back into her side. She giggled a bit and ruffled his hair, her arm coming to rest around his shoulder as she leaned back into Felix.

“I have one question,” she spoke softly, not sure if she should even be asking.

“Shoot,” Changbin said, echoing her words from earlier. She shot him a soft smile which he returned tenfold.

“Are you all, like..” she took a breath, bringing her gaze up from her lap, “together?” She finished.

Her question was definitely warranted, as affection between the pack was far from rare.

Felix chuckled a bit behind her, as did Chan before he spoke, “no, baby, we’re not.”

“But I wouldn’t mind taking you all for myself,” Hyunjin said, coming up behind her and Felix and planting a firm kiss to her hair. “Dr. Lee says she can take Olive tomorrow.”

“Hyunjin… likes to share,” Chan chuckled, then continued, “we all have our mates. Actually, before you came, Felix was the only person without one. We all... how do I say this... we all love each other, and sometimes, we do... things together, but at the end of the day, we have our couples."

"Oh,” Olive said, nuzzling into her mate's neck a bit. Yeah, she was glad she was here after all. “Who of all of you are mates?” Chan was surprised when she didn't seem weirded out at all.

“Seungmin, Hyunjin, and I are mates,” Changbin said, tucking his puppy-eyed beta to his side.

“Unfortunately,” the boy quipped. Changbin just clicked his tongue and ruffled the boy’s hair, welcoming Hyunjin as he came to sit on the alpha’s lap.

“Minho and I are mates,” Jisung cheered, and that had been obvious enough to her.

“So that means you and Jeongin are mates?” She asked in reference to Chan.

“We sure are!” Jeongin said with a cheesy smile, his mouth full of food. Olive giggled at him.

“And now you and Felix are, too,” Chan said with a suggestive smirk. Really, he’d never been more happy for the fellow aussie. He knew how important it was to the blond to meet his mate, and he knew that, even if it were unconventional, Olive would be very loved by Felix.

Olive gave a shy smile, snuggling further into Felix. The boy planted a kiss on her head, wrapped a warm arm around her, and then brought his cheek to her head and held her.

The pack let them sit together for a moment. In all honesty, their combined scents and their energy were kind of driving everyone crazy. Nothing beat the smell of a relaxed omega, but two? God, they were in heaven. The mixture of Felix’s vanilla and Olive’s cinnamon was intoxicating— unlike anything that any one of them had ever smelt.

So, of course Chan was torn when he had to interrupt. But it was late, urging on two a.m., and everyone really needed to get to bed, especially if Olive were to have an appointment in the morning.

“Alright, we should really all get to bed,” he said, “Olive, come, and I’ll bring you to your room,” he stood, offering a kind hand to help Olive up. But the girl just stared, confused.

“Oh, okay,” she responded dejectedly, but Chan didn’t let her get far.

“Whats wrong?” He asked, rubbing her shoulder to calm her as she stood up.

“She didn’t want to sleep alone,” Seungmin spoke from across the table. Huh, intuitive, Olive thought.

“Well that's not a problem, baby! You can sleep with me,” Felix said, standing behind her and looking down to meet her eyes as she turned to him.

She simply nodded, entirely preening and not having any words for how content she was feeling.

“Goodnight, omega,” Jeongin started, and the rest of the pack followed in turn.

Yeah, Olive thought, she was going to like it here.
