i have seen posts saying that commenting on eating disordered and particularly anorexic bodies is pointless and usually part of an exercise of collective shaming and attempted humiliation that is ultimately harmful and even threatening which i dont necessarily disagree with and i have seen posts saying that ariana grande is a foot away from death and that should be talked about or commented on and i dont necessarily disagree w that either but where i think the perceived incompatibility of these two views is coming from the fact that like one of them is addressing genuine humiliation rituals that are not productive and ignore the fact that yes that extremely skinny woman already knows that she is extremely skinny while the other is wanting to perform a cultural critique of the ways that the behaviors that frequently give rise to eating disorders are culturally and socially praised and encouraged. but the two also dont seem to be aware that thats what the other is doing / referring to so theyre like fighting about something that isnt rlly an issue but these are just my thoughts

there are also posts that arent rlly doing either of these things and theyre like ariana grande fans who think she is the pinnacle of health because thinking so is necessary for their own self-delusions or they are people who do indeed want to just shame and humiliate eating disordered people. just a lot going on
