I fade from their memories before I even realize I’m fading. I slip out of their lives like water through open fingers, and they don’t even notice the loss. And goodbyes, God, they’re the hardest. Whenever I say goodbye, people take it so easily, as if they were waiting for it. They leave without hesitation, without protest, without even a second glance. And maybe that’s what hurts the most - the quiet, lingering fear of being forgotten.
