As a person who has lost her best friend to suicide, I’m telling you that If I were in your situation, If I had knowledge that someone I knew was going to take their own life and I could prevent it, I would without hesitation. Those aren’t the type of secrets you’re meant to hold. Those secrets are grenades.Sure, she may be very cross with you right now, and you may never have a romantic relationship with her again. I’m so sorry that 4 years came to such a vicious halt. But please know you did everything in your power to help her in the only way you knew how. You stuck by her and loved her unconditionally, loved her enough to tell her mother. You feel guilty now for betraying her trust, but because of you she has another chance. You can’t feel guilty for giving someone that opportunity. Take feeling this type of guilt over getting an 8 a.m phone call during passing time at school from a grief stricken family member telling you that your loved one wasn’t here anymore..She may find what she needs in this program she’s going through. She may one day hear a new song that makes her happy, or feel the warmth of a new days sun on her skin and realize that you made that possible. That you tried with all your heart to get her out of the dark. You did your best. <3
