I think also if we are different from most other fans :-), i’d proffer because we’ve been around for quite some time now whilst the source of our fandom has been through major milestones…. ingenu to new discovery and major heart-throb status, to emerging major talent to established A-lister who has gotten married, a family and is now making not career-building choices rather passion projects. so many fans left i think after he got together with Sophie (lots became Hiddlestoners), and another exodus after Sherlock but who has since attracted swathes of new fans who loved his work as Doctor Strange and as Patrick Melrose. i think - like Benedict perhaps - his fandom has become more sage, considered and reflective. less rabid even….

and in terms of a defining oeuvre for newcomers? Patrick Melrose. (perhaps issued with a gentle warning).
