Iβm not talking about it any more after this but the amount of people who supported lex and leighton right up until the apology vids came out and suddenly are SO quick to believe matt and ryan and forgive them (even though it is not and never will be their place to do so !!!) is genuinely pathetic. I donβt care if youβve been a fan for years and have merch and theyβre your comfort youtubers. stop putting so much stock into the creators you consume that youβre willing to throw victims under the bus so you donβt have to feel bad about watching funnie youtube video. get a life and get a fucking spine. I donβt care how sympathetic someone known to be manipulative and selfish appeared in their apology videoβthere were plenty of things matt glossed over, failed to address/take responsibility for, and imo lied about. I was afraid people with no real strong convictions and/or are easily manipulated would fall for his video and it looks like I was right to feel that way.
Im genuinely not buying that he βdoesnβt recallβhandling lexβs confession to him in such a cold and selfish manner. I know he apologized for how they handled it, but that was completely tarnished by his insistence they didnβt try to cover anything up to save their brand despite evidence otherwise. βnot wanting to tell lexβs storyβ was just too convenient of a placation.
I also think itβs especially telling that matt failed to mention there were VIDEOS of them saying the n word when he was so quick to whine about lexβs partner bringing up their use of racial slurs, so Iβm not sure why so many people are keen to disregard what leighton mentioned in his stream about the use of slurs in the office. I mean, okay, I KNOW why, but its appalling how mask off people are when it comes to not giving a fuck about their favorite youtuberβs racism.
i know thereβs some confusion about some of the points leighton brought up and some of that confusion is even seconded by lex herself, but thereβs still plenty of them that I believe and that resulted from supermega utterly failing to create a safe work environment, and how defensive matt gets when speaking on a gay man struggling with mental illnessβs grievances with homophobia and workplace sexual assault and painting him as hysterical, vindictive and deranged is just not passing the sniff test for me. I really donβt give a fuck about matt and ryanβs romantic lives so leighton bringing that in was whatever, but that shit is so pale in comparison to a lot of the other allegations that deserved more of a place in their apology.
also matt implying that one of lexβs literal friends who got her permission to make a video uplifting her voice was simply diverting attention from her sexual assault to clout chase was justβ¦slimy. it was a split second (probably intentionally!) but it was very much there.
Idk. It so fucking obvious to me the angles he was playing here. like yeah theyβre just human but sometimes humans are selfish and they throw people under the bus for their own gain and they do really shitty things that donβt deserve your coddling or support. I hope some of you get a fucking grip.
