In my homecountry, we often use Plectranthus barbatus (also Coleus forskohlii) leaves and roots to treat a variety of issues. Despite the flavour, the leaves are great to treat digestive problems such as gastritis, nausea and stomach ache. They're also great for asthma, in addition to having great analgesic properties, so having this plant in my herb garden is very useful (we're an asthmatic family with gastrointestinal issues).
However, I am truly passionate about its violet flowers, which grow in inflorescences on stems with various verticils holding 6-8 flowers each. I have never, not even once, found anything on possible medicinal uses for the flowers. I haven't found any metaphysical correspondences to them either. For that, I was hesitant about drying the flowers for use in spells, until yesterday. These pretty little things always make me feel so happy, peaceful, relaxed whenever I see them, I just couldnât ignore that. I decided to harvest the flowers and work with my own personal intuition for that.Â
The plant releases a sticky substance when cut and the flowers also make your hand sticky. Flowers smell the same as leaves, which is not very pleasant if you expect something positively fragrant. But the beauty of these flowers won me over, and the smile on my face and the calm in my chest whenever I see them tells me that I need to try and incorporate them into my practice.Â
My current correspondences are: introspection and meditation; psychic abilities and divination; emotional healing and balance; spiritual protection; wisdom and communication; Athena, the Moon, the number 7.Â
