Cottagecore advice

Since cottagecore in basically just goblinore zoomed out with a vintage insta filter, I’ve decided to make a little series on Goblincore stuff as well. Nothing in depth like cottagecore, but good enough to get the sense of the aesthetic.

So. You wanna live the goblincore high life. Unlucky for you, you live in a bedsit near the motorway and if you look out your window you’ll only see an overflowing skip and a lidl store. How do you make your living space goblincore?

1. find as many pillows as you can find, either in your living space or in charity shops/being chucked out by friends, etc... You got that? Good! Put them all on your bed. Do the same with any blankets and make it nice and nesty.

2. plants look really aesthetically pleasing as well as improving the air quality and giving you something to do without looking at a screen. Don’t have the money for plants? Always seem to just kill them? Get fakes, either plastic or knitted from your local cheap store, or just find the nearest jar, pebbles and moss to make a moss jar

3. find and keep little things. Rings? Done. Buttons? Done. Pinecones? Yes, yes, yes, pinecones are amazing. Keep them and cherish them by putting them on shelves or your windowsill

4. cute vintage posters to make boring white walls more interesting, or, even better, paint your walls a darkish shade of blue or green, which will instatly make your space feel nicer and more gobliny

5. be careful around candles, but if you have candles, use them! Dot them around the place! Even if it’s just a tea light!

6. try deorating your space yourself! I want to preface this by saying be vcareful, obviously, but if you’re artistically inclined, maybe paint some greenery or mushrooms on your door or cupboard!
