BACKGROUND  :

jake  was  born  in  seville  ,  spain  ,  a  miracle  (  or  accident  ,  depending  how  you  look  at  it  )  out  of  a  one  night  stand  between  a  music  industry  intern &  graduate  student  at  the  university  of  madrid  who  met  at  a  bar  .  despite  his  unanticipated  arrival  ,  nicolás  &  marina  made  it  work  ,  deciding  to  stay  together  (  albeit  on  &  off  throughout  his whole  life  )  to  ensure  he  had  both  a  maternal  &  paternal  figure  in  his  life  .  the  family  moved  to  los  angeles  following  a  career  opportunity  for  marina  when  jake  was  seven  .  they  both  prioritized  their  careers  ,  meaning  jake  was  raised  by  au  pairs  ,  mostly  from  spain  ,  in  his  early  days  ,  &  later  by  himself  . he  struggled making  his  own  decisions  due  to  his  every  move  being  planned &  watched  by  his  parents  /  au  pairs  ,  an  issue  that  has  caused  him  a  lifetime  of  dependency  on  other  people  to  solve  his  problems  for  him  .

he  went  to  a  strict  catholic  private  school  (  at  his  spanish  grandmother’s  insistence  )  , &  spending  8  hours  a  day  in  such  a  strict  environment  conflicted  greatly  with  the  chaotic  ,  spontaneous  nature  of  his  home  life  .  his  mother  was  constantly  throwing  parties  & encouraging  jake  to  indulge  in  the  finer  things  in  life  (  read  :  participating  in  wine  tastings  at  age  10  )  while  his  father  was  often  flying  around  the  globe  for  conferences  & neglecting  parental duties  .

growing  up  around  his  parents’  obsession  with  music  ,  it  was  no  surprise  that  jake  had  a  natural  aptitude  for  any  instrument  he  could  get  his  hands  on  .  his  grades  were  mediocre  ,  mostly  because  he  was  struggling  with  undiagnosed  add  (  something  that  continues  to  go  undiagnosed  today  )  , &  didn’t  care  for  anything  that  wasn’t  musical  .  at  age  16  ,  with  his  grades  barely  scraping  by  ,  his  parents  decided  to  sit  him  down  &  have  a  serious  conversation  about  his  future  .  

they  ended  up  agreeing  that  after  high  school  ,  jake  would  go  on  a  gap  year &  travel  the  globe  .  while  on  his  international  travels  ,  he  realized  that  he  loved  learning  about  the  environment  &  climate  in  each  of  the  places  he  visited  ,  so  much  so  that  he  started  looking  into  &  applying  for  programs  in  the  united  states

he  got  into  a  few  schools  ,  but  was  rejected  from  ucla  (  his  number  one  due to  the  proximity  to  his  family  )  .  he  eventually  decided  upon  eastview  because  he  was  also  rejected  from  the  unis  in  nyc  ,  but  decided  he  wanted  to  be  close  to  the  city  anyway  .  so  he  started  in  2018  &  is  now  in  his  final  year  !

PERSONALITY  :

cares  a  lot  about  his  friends  & isn’t  afraid  /  embarrassed  to  tell  them  he  loves  them  .  he  more  often  than  not  will  pay  for  a  whole club  tab  because  he  wants  his  friends  to  feel  taken  care  of  .  as  long  as  he  wants  to  do  it  ,  he  would  go  to  the  end  of  the  universe  for  his  friends  .

very  much  . . . . ..   i  do  what  i  want  when  i  want  vibes  .  stubborn  as  hell & doesn’t  like  being  told  he’s  wrong  (  but  will  eventually  come  around & admit  it  ,  once  he’s  not  angry  anymore  about  being  held  accountable  skldfjs  )  .

empty  headed  big  time  .  like  mans  just  doesn’t  even  think  half  the  time  .  he  doesn’t  intend  to  piss  anyone  off  but  often  accidentally  does  & lacks  the  self  - awareness  to  even  tell  that  someone’s  mad  at  him  unless  he’s  told  .  doesn’t realize  when  people  are  hitting  on  him  either  -  he  always  thinks  it’s  a  platonic friendly  conversation  .  💀💀

heart  of  gold  honestly  ,  even  if  it  is  clouded  by  his  lack  of  self - awareness  .  the  type  to  take  care  of  someone  if  they’ve  drank  too much  ,  &  set  them  up  with  comfy  clothes  ,  a  toothbrush  & some  ibuprofen  in  his  guest  room  .  v   much  golden  retriever  energy  .  somewhat  of  a  himbo  when  he’s  in  a  good  mood  ,  an  absolute  piece  of  shit  if  he’s  not  .

speaking  on  club  tabs  !!! i  swear  this  man  lives  in  the  club  from  thursday  to  saturday  night  .  he  lives  off  campus  (  wanted  plot  idea  -  3 - 4  ppl  sharing  a  house  together  ?  the  designated  party  house  ?  👀  click  here  for  the  pinterest  board  hehehe  ) &  the  house  is  p much  decorated  /  furnished  to  be  conducive  for  parties  .  his  spanish  roots  ensure  that  when  the  liquor  starts  flowing  ,  he’s  out  there  dancing  &  being  the  life  of  the  party  .  will  also  become  SO  forward  & romantic  when  he’s  tipsy  ,  he  just loves  life  y’all  .

hedonistic  as  fuck  .  just  wants  to  live  life  to  the  fullest &  doesn’t  tend  to  consider  others’  feelings  or  wants  if  it  concerns  him  .  he’s  got  main  character  syndrome  🙄

is  that  bitch  who  doesn’t  listen  to  modern  music  &  thinks  he’s  cool  &  different  bc  of  it  ,  romanticizes  the  fuck  out  of  the  70s  in  his  head  .  it’s  not  that  he  hates  pop / modern  music (  or  so  he  says  )  ,  but  moreso  that  he  grew  up  on  60′s / 70′s  rock  /  soul  /  blues  /  bossa  nova  music  &  that’s  what  he  enjoys  still  to  this  day  .  ppl  think  he’s  being  facetious  when  asked  what  he  thinks  about  current artists  &  he  has no  idea  who  they  are  ,  but  he  genuinely  doesn’t  know  .  

didn’t  grow  up  around  a  stable  ,  healthy  romantic  relationship  so  he  doesn’t  understand  how  /  why  people  stay  in  long  term  relationships  .  his  parents  were  married  but  had  an  open  relationship  ,  which  he  sees  as  normal  &  healthy  because  they’re  both  happy  with  the  arrangement  .  it  causes  his  relationships  to  end  mostly  on  sour  notes  because  he  wants  the  freedom  that  comes  with  being  single  but  the  reliability  /  stability  that  comes  from  a  relationsihp  .  chaos  tbh  .

isn’t  great  at  communicating  his  thoughts &  feelings  .  he  can’t  process  how  he  feels  effectively  enough  to  put  it  into  words  so  he  mostly  just  sulks  or  lashes  out  when  he  feels  like  someone  is  putting  words  in  his  mouth  .  he  doesn’t  like  being  known  ,  that  someone  else  might  be  able  to  predict  what  he’s  going  to  do  or  know  why  he  reacts  in  a  certain  way  .  he’s  a  great  active  listener  ,  ensuring  that  when  people  tell  him  things  he  gets  them  talking  for  ages  about  it  .  when  asked  about  himself  ,  he  answers  in  a  short  30 - second  spiel  then  directs  the  conversation  back  to  them  .  he  likes  knowing  about  others   ,  but  dislikes  being  known  .
