There's a common misconception that Bylers hate Midleven because it's a straight ship. That is not true. If Midleven had been written way better than they have been, I would totally ship them. Also, a lot of Bylers ship Lumax, Jopper, Jancy, some even ship Stancy. So the issue we have is not that it's a straight ship. Nah, we hate Midleven because as a couple, they fucking suck. They are just not good together as a couple and their relationship is unhealthy and borderline toxic at times and there never seems to be any growth with them. It's the same shit. They keep going in circles. Also, their relationship is stunting both of their personal journies of growth and self acceptance/love. It is getting exhausting to watch. There are only so many seasons one can handle of them not growing as a couple and repeating storylines before you wanna punch the screen. They have clearly grown out of that relationship instead of growing INTO it and they are not in love and they just need to breakup.

ALSO, not everyone who hates Midleven is a Byler. They are actually starting to be one of the most disliked ships by even the general audience because of how repetitive and boring and kinda immature their relationship is and how they can't seem to grow and work things through as a couple in a mature way. The GA still thinks they will be endgame and they are resigned to that but that doesn't mean they like Midleven. They just think right now that they are a poorly written and annoying endgame couple. Mike and El's relationship still resembles that of like two 12 year olds. And like yes they are still very young. Their relationship won't be perfect or the most mature. But when it's compared to Lumax and Byler and even Duzie, it is clear their relationship is falling behind in the maturing department and they lack several qualities needed to have a healthy and loving relationship...actually getting to KNOW each other instead of just making out and sending each other vague letters, being one of those qualities.
