Meteor initially falls to Earth somewhere in the north pole, fight with Rayquaza happens, Deoxys loses somewhere up near the stratosphere, falls to Earth a second time in Hoenn near Meteor Falls

Professor Cozmo finds the meteor ( dubbed the Grand Meteor ) with two Deoxys cores embedded inside, takes them to a lab beneath the Mossdeep Space Centre for observation

Sometime during his studies he loans them out to his colleague Professor Lund for?? some reason smh, Lund conducts research, gives them back. The two continue exchanging material on the yet unnamed ‘lifeforms’ that they’ve discovered

After the cores begin growing bodies and Lund continues his research he makes a breakthrough in studying them by discovering the Normal and Speed forms, and names the new species ‘Deoxys’

Team Magma raids the Mossdeep Space centre for rocket fuel a la Emerald, Team Rocket spies move during the chaos to steal both lifeforms while the staff is distracted trying to protect their fuel

Team Rocket researchers discover the Attack and Defence forms accidentally and continue observing them in an attempt to coax them into mutation into complete Pokémon

This happens:

Purple-core Deoxys escapes to Birth Island to mutate into a proper Pokémon form adapted to Earth, Green-core Deoxys stays behind and is kept in Rocket HQ

PokéSpe stuff happens, Purple-core Deoxys is ‘disposed of’ by Giovanni, somehow gets picked up by Lund. Green-core Deoxys has since left to go ‘find it’s friend’ while Lund continues his studies

Deoxys movie stuff happens, Rayquaza fight x2, Green and Purple get separated yet again and blown to who knows where

Purple-core regenerates someplace and assumes Green-core has been shattered, begins studying humans, mutates into a more human shape to blend better. Initial form is of a female researcher. Things don’t go well so it ditches the persona and gathers genetic material here and there to copy for a second attempt
