just a kind reminder to please be kind to the people you know with gastrointestinal disorders/conditions! they're embarassing, often very painful - sometimes debilitating - and very hard to talk about without oversharing a lot more than most are comfortable with.
if someone you know:
- spends a lot/long time in the restroom
- has a colostomy bag
- requires diapers or similar implements
- experiences a lot of gas and/or bloating
- requires tube feeding or other alternative methods of nutrition
- has food restrictions (e.g. cannot handle a lot of spices, certain proteins, etc.)
- eats a lot, or only a little
or other similar factors of their life...
please be patient and understanding, it's hard having guts that really like disagreeing with you!

I am having trouble digesting the fact that i have to explain this to you. I will stomach my disgust to try.
Imagine you got sick. Very sick. Like unable to leave the house let alone keep a job for years sick. Your body is shutting down. you can barely stand long enough to take a shower.
Would you really be okay living the rest of your life like that with no explaination why?
Do i really need to explain to you that i at least deserve an explaination or prognosis for what is happening to my body?
Have you ever been sick? Do you consider yourself to have even basic cognative empathy? Are you okay? Sounds like we both need to get something diagnosed tbh
Remember guys, you have the right (obligation even) to call someone an evil cunt when they say something like this to you. Flip the script. This is not about you having to defend yourself for being sick, it is about them having to defend the horrible thing they just said

not to tweak on main but if I don't receive adequate medical care right flipping now istg (it'll never happen)
the more I think about it the more I think I'd benefit from a wheelchair because
1. it's the bottoms of my feet that are my worst thing with walking and standing. no amount of support completely takes away that pain and after trying a cane I can confidently come to that conclusion. my relief is 100% off my feet
2. I am So tired. walking makes me more tired!! I could do so much more with a chair like go grocery shopping, go out with friends, etc and the toll would be so much lighter. then I have energy and more time without excruciating pain for when I MUST stand to Do The Thing. like marching band or when I go for walks *to walk* and listen to music.
but this shit would never happen my rheumatologist would crucify me on the spot if I dare suggest I need substantial help and would prefer to not live life in pain for the benefit of literally nobody

right like this irritates me beyond belief when people don't get this. "oh that's a terrible condition to have you don't want that" I am already living with the condition babe. "you don't want to be sick" how do you suppose a diagnosis comes about
everyone claims to be an ally to the disabled community until
- itâs a high support needs autistic
- the symptoms canât be romanticized and are gross
- someone elseâs disability starts to affect their life
- itâs a condition that cannot be cured
- someone is intellectually disabled
- someone is female and disabled
- someone is queer and disabled or black/POC and disabled
- someone is a minor and disabled
- ambulatory wheelchair users exist
- part time mobility aid users exist
- the âhellen keller wasnât realâ discussion
- theyâre called out on their ableism
- someone is semiverbal/nonverbal
- someone doesnât understand boundaries or the law
- someone has a deaf accent
- someone misses a lot of school or doesnât go to school
- someone doesnât want their disease/disorder cured
- someone does want their disease/disorder cured
- age regression
- having to mask for someoneâs genuine safety
- actually needing to listen to disabled peopleâs opinions instead of immediately forming their own
- not infantilizing disabled people
- when a disabled person struggles with hygiene
- they see a âuselessâ disability aid
- they donât agree with a disabled persons lifestyle or opinions
- until they have to put in work to be an advocate and a real ally to the disabled community.
everyone is a disability ally until things get hard.
skin is not supposed to be perfectly smooth and clear and unblemished. itâs literally like 5 sq ft of organ thatâs ENTIRELY ON THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR BODY. itâs supposed to protect you and your organs and your muscles and ligaments etc. without skin that can adapt we would all be riddled with infections and pain. even âimperfectâ skin loves you and doesnât want you to suffer. be nice to it . it is your friend
If your skin didnât wrinkle, crack, bruise, tan, freckle, or scar then we wouldnât be alive!!! those are all evolutionary adaptations!!! itâs your bodyâs way of keeping you in one piece :) and itâs beautiful
