Steve and Eddie have a secret relationship going on but it gets outed because Jonathan is out one night, sees Steve kissing someone with dark curly hair and immediately assumes it's Nancy. At first Jonathan is being icy towards both Nancy and Steve and won't explain or just does the 'you know why'/'You know exactly what you've done' thing, but then they genuinely have no idea what he's talking about and he thinks they're playing dumb so it all blows up. It all blows up until Steve realises exactly which night Jonathan is talking about where he and Eddie were a little bit drunk, a little overconfident after dating in secret and without being caught for a few months and a little less cautious than usual. He has to awkwardly cut Jonathan off and explain that actually that was Eddie Munson he saw him with because he doesn't want to cause issues between Nancy and Jonathan.
