We get sooo comfortable with the known that we fear losing that comfort - the reality of new is different and scary - we really don’t know why or what the new will bring so how can we fear what we don’t know? Holy hills Batman!! Was not prepared for the hill climbs in this @frenchcreekracing tri on Sunday. Although I will say it was a fantastic event and thank you the organizers and volunteers! I am very glad I chose such a tough event as my first ever race!! I will wear it as a badge of honor! Sorry about the swim being cancelled but I was glad to get to go out and compete. The bike was a big challenge for me with a couple big climbs that were pretty tough, followed by really fun downhills that I enjoyed bombing down! Lord Vader (my Felt D4) performed awesome and I felt like I held my own. Coming off the bike I was most definitely rattled but made a good transition (less bumbling with sneakers next time) our of T2 was hit with good uphill which had my heart rate way up and was a bit of a smack on the face. Didn’t really get my feet under me and my breathing sorted until I made the turn back and had some downhill love. Then as fast as it started it as over... My times were not exactly what I was planning and I certainly am not setting any records (1:19 t1+bike+t2+run) but given the challenges (hills, cramping, etc) I was very happy with the effort !! Looking forward to next year, and glad to check the box and move to the next challenge. 41 years + 3k today! Hard to even believe the journey so far and that this is the same dude - separates by 2.5years - Celebrating this bday with renewed focus and belief in what I am up to, dedication to my family, focus on new goals and challenges, and a sense of caring and servitude to new causes.
