I feel like the plot they went with for the Gameoverse pilot was lowkey dumb asl. You give us like 2 minutes of screentime showing Kit’s home and none of her friends or whatever gets a single line. Just one fight scene beating the game before we’re thrust way ahead into the timeline after the TEASER. The teaser that showed us Gobbles’ home and shi that isn’t in the show. Idk this pilot feels like it wants to speedrun everything already and it ain’t even barely started.
We don’t even get to see much of Kit’s life before the whole stopping the hero job, all we know is her personality is trauma trauma trauma. Those npcs sitting at a bar remind me of my friends for some reason- TRAUMMAAAA. Kit ends up looking incompetent, boring, and a walking angst machine throughout the entire episode and the show expects us to believe she taught Gobbles how to cheer someone up after panicking like she does in the epsiode. We also don’t really know how long Gobbles has even been with the crew but it seems pretty damn recent. Idk Kit just seems like she sucks at her job lmao. Why tf does the learnasaurus who just lost his planet know not to scream out to the hero about the Gameoverse but not you Kit?? The supposed experienced one.
Whatever. I’m just saying the pilot should’ve just been all about Kit and… backpack bot’s friends and world and see it in more detail so that when it’s destroyed it hits more. Idk I just feel like the childish comedy and super serious plot do not mesh well cuz it feels the the story won’t even be that entertaining. The premise alone kinda sucks cuz Kit and the others can only attempt to convince the heroes while Synthax can basically just do what they always do. That and the worlds we’ve seen so far are either super basic and it barely feels alive or the glimpses we do see are so quick you don’t get to feel anything.
Also on design/misc bs standpoint… I think some of the designs are cool. But tbh I feel like the characters sometimes don’t really fit what they’re based on… like Miss Information. Or are really.. generic ig in execution. I just think it’s funny the megaman inspired character is just for some reason a cat person. Not bad designs.. just eh. The voice for Kaboodle (dumbass name) and Gobbles are so strange. Gobbles sounds like a damn smoker, why does a learning kids game mascot sound like that- and Kaboodle’s VA mic is so different from everyone else it stands out in a slightly annoying way, why tf couldn’t they give him another mic.
