Reflection and some final words
For this project Id ended up using some of ideas, id had for poster one and repurposed it for poster two, I still liked my idea of the utility pocket knife kinda showing that if you have the right tools you can create and do anything, find the mediums that we each individually love and can express art in there own way. I used this idea for the more general public one and kept the message simple so hopefully someone would see this and take their own thing away from it and interpret it how they like, being again that the college supplies and encourages all types of artistic expression. As for the second poster i stepped way way out of my comfort zone and decided to go with a photography approach to it which i then photoshopped and cleaned up and i personally think it turned out very well, as well as was a nice trip to leave my usual digital art style, i think this made the piece a little bit more designerly versus being more on the arty side of things. I tried to make the piece more vague having originally doddled all my main sketches I had for the piece and considered doing instead of writing the words “art ideas” ect, but I personally feel like this was the right decision. The idea behind that was to make it so anyone could see the poster and relate to the idea of having just many strange concepts and writing, most artists i know have sketchbooks and notepads next to their bed, kitchens/fridges and showers so they can capture any stray ideas that spring up at random.
And some final words, I enjoyed this project to be honest. I thought it was very fun and open and gave students a great chance to show what they think art and design means and what they'd do if they had the chance to lure more people into the course. I found the concepts of logos hard to balance, since there were many written rules that had to be followed and finding a way to make the logos look nice while not compromising the poster and the main content from that was a struggle. I think if i had more time I'd explore some more concepts from my original sketches. But i would also still like to keep the concept of using photography, i'd like to explore this field more in the future and broaden my works when it comes to assignments and think a bit more unconventionally.
Working times
Feb 9th- Brief Write up - 25 mins
Feb 11th- Idea planning- 1 hourÂ
Feb 14th-Â First Sketches -1 hour and a halfÂ
Feb 22nd- Sketches - 45 mins
Mar 1st- Sketches and starting- 4 hoursÂ
Mar 2nd- Working and even more sketches- 7 hoursÂ
Mar 2nd evening- Working , sketches, second poster idea- 8 hours
Mar 3rd- Finishing touches - 3 hoursÂ
Mar 3rd- Final final touches 1 hour
Id set up the sticky notes in my room and then photoshopped out all the things i didnt want in the picture, then of course edited and made it look alot nicer then the original picÂ
I had a harder time trying to come up with an idea for the First poster, the one thats more directed towards artists and people with in our program
I kinda came up with an idea to have sticky notes with ideas all over them, since everyone ive ever talked to who does something creative has notebooks by places like there beds and showers and kitchens to catch all those random ideas. I then was kinda reminded of the old 2000s Ads like got milk where they were mostly normal images with the slight hint of an ad and so i tried to recreate that vibeÂ

Assignment #2 Brief
For this assignment were tasked with making two different posters relating to the same subject matter that being art and design.Â
For poster #1 poses the questions on how art can impact our lives and how it effects are daily lives, its more so about why art and design is important. It reaches to a niche community, that being people familiar with the field of art and design. Asking about terms and questions to people who are knowledgable in the field where they can answer and debate with one another.Â
And for poster #2 Its more about reaching a broader audience, about showing people who are less experienced with the art and deign field and how we can get them to be more drawn into it.Â

Final design thoughts
For this project we were tasked to make a new creative way to help with sustainability and become a bit more eco friendly or redesign something that already exists and make it better in both physical and marketing designs.
For this project I went over many different ideas and took into consideration things from my personal life that I didn't like when it came to packaging. I personally am extremely eco conscious and there isn't very much i don't either recycle or reuse, having NO single use items in my household ((with a few exceptions, i'm only human)). So finding things that I could actually improve was a challenge and I was pretty excited for the task. I was inspired to redesign the Too Faced makeup brands Natural Eyes palette because it's two separate boxes , thankfully i use the box to hold my hot glue but i'm sure most people just throw this away, which is a real shame. Too Faced has some of the prettiest boxes and packaging i've ever seen and i really don't like just recycling it and so i thought maybe i could use how pretty it is and reuse it somehow, i immediately thought about how when i moved into a new apartment i had to buy a whole makeup stand, so i took this idea and decided to make a makeup box turn into a place for brushes and pallets to go.
The package itself pulls out the bottom and unfolds to make a stand using small key holes that in a real product would punch out and the waste of it being the size of less than a fingernail.Â
When prototyping all went very well and I quickly came up with an efficient design. I did however run into MANY issues when it came to the physical designing of the product. I designed how I would ideally want the box and i think that would work well but in real life i had to paint the box since I didn't have the cardboard id wanted ideally. Instead i had to fish stuff from the recycling bin. When I painted the boxes the paint made i so it didn't fit AS perfect as it had before painting which really was frustrating. The cardboard also being corrugated means that there is strange holes that paint couldn't get into and overall i am not the most happy with the paint job but the actual idea i am very pleased with and i think that if it where a real product design many people who love makeup would adore this and appreciate the extra storage for there brushes.Â
AND here is the finished product!!Â
I wanted to keep the theme of the Too faced packaging with the pink delicate motif they use for there product but i completely redid it, i wanted a more simpleness for the rest of the package and have the pattern on the back be flip-able so then the holder part does have awkward upside down logos or labelsÂ
I am sad how the metallic shows up in pictures, its a lot smoother irlÂ
And the finalized logo with the cute little compact
Here are the Too Faced logo redesign sketchesÂ
Funny enough i almost immediately knew what i was gonna do for the logo with useing the little compact though the end design does change a bitÂ

Here is the working template id made, it does stand on its own very well and has 3 mini areas for stuff ((including the main larger box))Â
All the parts are just one bigger peice, with the exception of the lid since it was originally gonna be on the bigger box but i found it worked better on this one instead and added for more storageÂ
Here is the first try of the inner box, then in the empty space will fit the larger box everything comes inside, the eyeshadow pallet also fits while inside
this try was a little wonky, i workshopped a handful of things and by the end it couldn't stand at all by its self ahaÂ
