titus continued to smile, a pleased glint in his eye as he took in how she held the knife. her grip has improved, good. âthat was a special clause that shouldnât have existed in the first place.â he huffed, arms crossed over his chest as he relaxed into the slightly lumpy sofa âyou might have still been out of it but i made my displeasure with it very well known.â âdespite what you may or may not believe, the lawyer practices law in every country. our marriage is fully legal and still stands.â he finally stood and walked over to stand in front of grace â his large hand wrapping around her wrist so she couldnât stab him. âyou may not have had a rich daddy, but what you do have is one rich dead husband and an even richer new husband. did the lawyer not reach out to you while i was in the hospital?â
Grace didnât like the way Titus stared at her; heâd been doing that since theyâd laid eyes on each other. The man had this sick look of pleasure whenever her gaze turned to him or sheâd outsmarted one of the other idiots attempting to end her life. âAnd yet it did, the Le Domasâs told me that he loved to play games, you shouldnât have been surprised someone wouldâve beat theirs,â she mused as she looked at him being such an out-of-place piece in this broken-down apartment. âMustâve missed it, given how much painkiller they had to load me up on to be ready for the game,â she replied sarcastically.
âWell, I was rather hoping to enact the Death Do Us Part ' clause of that marriage. Why are you here, Titus? You clearly have your seat, you donât need me any longer,â She shot back, not at all liking how close heâd moved, keeping the knife firmly in her hand, feeling his hand wrap around her wrist. She knew what those hands did, how heâd attacked her sister just because he couldnât have her. âDidnât bother stopping to collect, last time I lingered in a hospital it led to yet another marriage and loads of dead bodies.â She smirked, tilting her head. âYou expect me to believe that all of that is mine, no strings attached? The police seemed pretty sure I was some devil spawn who burned her in-laws, didnât really feel like collecting money from a jail cell.â
