Spoilers for Iron Lung!

I just watched it last night but the movie made me realize smth based on public perception.

I think a big part of the reason the "unreliable narrator" trope has gotten big is because it allows people to turn their brains off and not care about what they're actually watching while still feeling smart for it.

Because I seen someone make an "explanation" video on Iron Lung but they chalked most of what happened up to hallucinations from the alcohol he drank. And that just made no sense to me, I couldn't understand how someone could come to that conclusion, until I realized.

They're not thinking at all.

The trope just lets them be lazy.

The trope lets them say "oh, its all in his head. It doesn't MEAN anything."

Also now that I think about it, did they have to kill the old body??? Or did Jake's old body die the instant he got transferred over to his avatar?

Bc the avatar bodies dont die when someone isnt "piloting" it. They just go unconscious, the same thing happening to the human body when Jake was in the machine and got transferred into the body semi-permanently, right?

So like did they have to kill the old body? It definitely would have died on its own from a lack of maintenance after a while but like
