Corn Mo Video

John Flansburgh wanted two worlds:  one dismal and one fantastical.  I wanted to transform a bar into the greatest pizza establishment that had no pizza, not unlike Crystal's Pizza or the Magic Time Machine.  So, I added a log cabin, an Eadweard Muybridge motion picture and hand-cranked cassette player.  

I once saw a clip of an Alexander Row movie on Mystery Science Theater. I translated my inspiration into this stop-motion video.

The band wanted something reminiscent of Todd Haynes' Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.  I really wanted the ending to include a Kroger parking lot.

I was excited to find that the Three Kings Day Parade was happening during the window of this shoot.  This is the first time I used animated drawings.  

I spent a lot of time moving tiny figures and clicking the camera.  It was very calming, like building a ship in a bottle.

I learned a lot about lighting while making this one.  I also learned some nice tricks on coloring.  They were fun to work with.

The guitarist's story included a woman in a New York and growing food.  I made a very loose interpretation of his story.  I experimented with light and stop-motion animation.

I made this video on making pizza with my drummer.  This was my first how-to video.  The pizza was delicious.

This is one of the first videos I made.  I had a lot to learn.  I'm still learning.  Mr. Folds was very, very kind to let me make this video.
