No Man’s Land: the novelization timeline
This claims that Batman: Year One was 10 years ago, which quite frankly I don't think adds up at all but whatever. (2 years before Dick, minimum 6 with him, 2 with Jason, then however many years of Tim between Jason & NML which I think is 2-3, a total of 12 years minimum (but up to 17 if Tim has been Robin for closer to 3 years & Dick started at 8 instead of 12))
The intro claims that Contagion was about three years ago. I also don't think that's right, but again. Whatever. Not important to the plot.
Huntress/Nightwing was one year ago
Black Monday does appear to be on New Year's - day 62 is the beginning of March, which implies that 1. we're counting NYE (Dec 31) as day 1 rather than New Year's (Jan 1) and 2. No Man’s Land takes place during a leap year. Refer to the Black Monday = Jan 1 sections of my timeline as we get farther into this
First entry is on day 90. Barbara sketches out how things have been, Cassandra's presence is established, the starting points for the rogues are drawn out.
This moves pretty much everything up a few days
Bruce enters the city on ~day 93, as opposed to 100-101 in the comic
Day 124 - Black Mask marches on the Clocktower, Barbara finds out about Helena operating as Batgirl
By day 140, Batman has brokered his deal with Penguin
At the beginning of May, Batman allegedly went into Robinson Park, and fresh produce is now coming out of the park. I think this is a fourth Fruit of the Earth timeline. Thanks, I hate it!
Day 143 - Renee Montoya is sent to make the alliance with Two-Face. The Two-Face-Penguin alliance is established around the same time, shortly before Montoya shows up.
Day 145 (midnight) - The alliances fall apart after Gordon & Two-Face move on Penguin's territory & Two-Face takes Batman’s.
Day 176 - David Cain enters NML. He makes an attempt on Gordon's life not long after. Apparently Two-Face hired him (if that's in the comic, I forgot about it)
~day 212 - Batman asks Oracle to call in the cavalry
Day 233 - mentioned but not sure what important thing actually happens
Labor Day (should be Day 249) - Nightwing & Robin arrive in NML, Batman forces Helena to give up Batgirl
Day 256 - Oracle reports on the arrival of Nightwing & Robin, & Cassandra gets Batgirl
Two-Face approaches Gordon, asking for help, and Gordon denies him. No date is given but it's been a while since Bane wired the Hall of Records & started killing Two-Face's people. This will probably be important later.
Batman sets off the detonation after ensuring that Oracle had copies of the records
Day 294 - Two-Face is missing, having lost to Bane & Petit. Bruce is able to contact Lucius Fox & get the wheels turning that will eventually lead to the restoration of Gotham
Two-Face kidnaps Gordon & demands Montoya to come get him. Interestingly, it would seem that we're going to skip Montoya's imprisonment with Two-Face & go straight to Gordon's trial
The night after the trial, we get the BatGordon divorce scene, aka Batman & Gordon trying to fix their partnership, aka Legends of the Dark Knight #125
Day 310 - NML is declared unconstitutional & the first moves are made toward legally restoring Gotham
Day 327 - Lex Luthor is in NML and working fast
Day 336 - Aid for Gotham is finally granted at a federal level, and the executive order has been signed that will end NML on New Year's
Day 344 - Oracle has power again; rebuilding of the city is still going well.
Day 354 - The day before Christmas Eve. Oracle uploads the files Batman have her save from the whole Hall of Records thing.
Day 355 - Christmas Eve. Joker baby plot. Sarah Essen dies. I assume we're all familiar.
No Man's Land ends at midnight on New Year's
Overall, really liked it :) definitely recommend reading this novel if you liked the original NML comics
