I think Niall is an interesting study.

Out of the gate from hiatus, Niall looked at their situations and understood that he needed the post1D flush to get his solo career going, so that’s exactly what he did. There was no hesitation, and not much pushback from HSHQ since they never expected Niall to compete with Harry.

I think the success of Slow Hands and Niall’s first album, in general, was surprising to HSHQ.

Niall is also the guy whom HSHQ can use to show that hey! the great Harry Styles remembers his roots and his mates! Even a constipated-looking photo together is still a photo together!

lucozade is DEFINITELY about his problems with fame and reflecting back to 1d times. “wanna take these watches, chains and gold rings / i'm getting caught up in the feelings that they bring / a lack of sanity, losing touch with reality” and the lines where he says he doesn’t want to breathe in the pollution, i meaaan that’s definitely about the fame and money and losing the touch of reality. both louis and zayn hate the hollywood life and keep to themselves

and the “we're blazing on that new found haze [...] left to right, sit and talk shit all night/ does that make it right for smoke?” i mean c’mon....zouis af

and “i’m sad about shit that never happened” is interesting to me because it reinforces my idea that zayn asked louis to leave 1d with him and louis said no akdjs but thats just my headcanon 🥲. imagine their power if louis wasnt so loyal to wandee

also not directly about zouis, but what i absolutely love from both of them is that they always write things such as “time heals pain and promotes self-soothing / when the scars are gone you can't see bruising” and “time takes time to heal it, you can’t do it by yourself; whatever tears you apart, don’t let it break your heart” ugh ok kings; both of them always talk about how time heals all wounds and everything will be alright 😔👊

when i think about calamity i can honestly only think of the line “i seen actors after BAFTA's be more straight” akahsah iconic 😭 but also “nostalgia, what a funny feeling” and “so two weeks is now four dozen / years that pass by, can't press no rewind” ☹️✋ they miss each other ok (+ “i hear 'em sing, it's the same carol” vs “it’s a copy of a copy of a copy”...something to think about, since they both have some rightful beef with the industry?)

PS.: “as long as you look me in the eyes / i'll go wherever you are” is about louis’ eyes because zayns favourite color is blue and he loves blue eyes and he loves louis’ eyes and he loves louis 😌 no criticism allowed
