My first sewing project was a malagaiyaq (fur hat) during the Cultural Week at the school. From then until now, I was sewing something. My craftsmanship started when I was young, my creativity. I am mostly Yup’ik and one-eighth Russian. I was born in Lower Kalskag [Alaska] in my grandmother’s house.” — Wassillie Isaac is Yup’ik and lives in Bethel, Alaska.
