Since December ‘2018 I have been testing the #Slater #Tomo #Cymatic #firewiresurfboards #surfboard in #portugal at #praiadecarcavelos #PraiaCrismina #PraiaGuincho #PraiaGrande, I have been surfing 20+ years, I am 6ft, 185lbs and surf at the intermediate to intermediate advanced level. I have a 5’9” . It’s my favorite board of all time because I can ride in a wide variety of wave conditions ranging from 1ft (8-10 seconds) to 6ft+ (10-15 seconds) punchy beach, reef or point breaks. I am riding in waves that have a curl, push, power  and steepness to them to take advantage of this boards personality. The Cymatic, it’s my daily driver if the waves have enough power. If the wave has a soft slope I don’t ride Cymatic, I use my groveller board (Firewire Double Agent). From my experience this board is highly tunable with different fin setups. I tried five different fin combos and I will only mention three of them I liked.  With wave conditions up to head high, my favorite fin combos are the FCS II Performers (medium) sides in the Neo Glass paired with the rear FCS I GX trailers. The balance between speed, flow, pivot and control is consistently amazing! I also enjoy a similar setup using the FCS I M5 (medium template) glass flex as the side paired with the rear FCS I GX trailers. I always rode it as a quad and some point I will ride it as a tri-fin but I was having too much fun! For overhead waves I rode the FCS II Matt Biolos Large Quad setup = more control & maintained speed. I was impressed how much I could feel the differences with this board when I switched the fin setups more than most boards I rode. The LFT construction is responsive and really helps me surf better. I feel like I’m making better turns and cutbacks. Paddling is easy and fast. The board has a good balance between grip and release. I can take steep drops quite well. One area for improvement. LFT construction (I own the 5’9” Cymatic and 5’8” Omni) both have broken down quicker than I expected compared to my PU boards and other 17 Firewire boards I've owned over 20 years of surfing.
