The fun thing about Kang Sin Jin is that he's canonically a manipulative corrupt evil politician with a blind spot the size of Antarctica for the gorgeous seductive equally manipulative subordinate out to ruin his life. And none of us can blame him for it.

Also incredibly funny to me that all of Kang Sin Jin's plans amounted to dust EXCEPT for the one causing Yoo See Hee and Lee Han Yeong's breakup as collateral. Which also had the side-effect of him getting to watch Lee Han Yeong protecting him from a band of thugs, AND getting beaten up for him. What an inspiringly petty, jealous bitch.

Rewatching The Judge Returns and I know I'm not the most astute viewer so there's probably stuff I'm missing and probably the writers have Plans regarding how they're gonna handle the falling-out between Kang Sin Jin and Lee Han Yeong (Kang Sin Jin is pretty much using Lee Han Yeong as an attack dog at this point, so what's gonna happen once he no longer needs him? Especially since he seems to have an idea that the disaster with Seong Dae's investment had at least partly to do with Lee Han Yeong), but I am still squinting at the massive Lee Han Yeong-shaped blind spot that Kang Sin Jin has. I'm wondering to what extent he's actually probably aware of what Lee Han Yeong's doing to undermine him. And also that episode in Ep. 9, with the assassin going by at the Chinese restaurant - the subtitles weren't clear, but what did Kang Sin Jin do? Did he actually order the guy to kill Lee Han Yeong, then change his mind?

Also, poor Kim Jin Han. Can you imagine being a government official who just wants in on the corruption, and now your boss has gotten concerningly obsessed with this pretty new judge that you keep warning him about but he refuses to listen. I can't even blame him for not telling Kang Sin Jin about how the prosecutors set up Seong Dae (if he actually didn't), he probably thought he wouldn't be believed. And unfortunately for Kim Jin Han he can't exactly peace out and decide his boss' questionable messy age gap relationship is none of his business either lmao it's his career and a potential prison sentence on the line.

I can't tell if this aged like fine wine or not HAHA given what how we got our collective hearts torn out in Ep. 13 and 14. My gods, Kang Sin Jin, you were down so bad for that nerd with the adorably bad haircut, and who can blame you?

Sometimes I think that KSJ allowed himself to be caught just to satisfy the whim of HY and draw the attention away from his true plan. He figured that HY wouldn’t stop until he took him to court. Besides, if he gets sentenced for all his crimes, he won’t be prosecuted for the same crimes in the future. All of charges will be annulled if the president gives him a pardon. In addition, since everybody is busy talking about his case, nobody will be digging into Suojae affairs anymore.

It’s also a curious fact that a USB card suddenly disappeared. It wasn’t with Sin Jin when he was arrested by prosecutors. Why would he leave it in Korea if he really intended to run away to another country? And most importantly, why it took him so long to make a decision to leave when he could have done it as soon as he was declared “wanted”.
