So. I have a personal headcannon that I hold very near and dear to my heart, that I am going to share with you fellows here today. I’m a little #scared though (╥_╥)
Btw, It’s about Pete.

So yes, in my au, Pete is Trans Masc (He/Him)!
Op, you may be asking. How did this headcannon come about? Well…
When I was in my youngin years, a tween/young teen, I had the random passing thought of making Pete trans. And I liked it so much that I incorporated it into my au at the time.
Now, fast ford to now, where 90% of that au is gone and I’m starting fresh. So you might think I would change it?
The thing is, Pete has been Trans Masc in my head for so long, that it feels really wrong to separate the two. It’s like a glue trap, or a smoothie. They’re just so a part of each other now, I can’t just remove it. It feels wrong and icky :/
So Trans Pete. Hooray! 🏳️⚧️

Now that we’ve gotten my dramatic anime backstory on why Pete is trans, how is this incorporated in the au?
Step closer (in my au) takes place in the 80s, so Pete does have to be more careful about who he is then he would be in the present, but he somehow did the impossible…
He has achieved it so that everyone knows that he’s a guy, but no one knows that he’s a Trans guy (other than close family, but duh). He simultaneously is out of the closet, and didn’t acknowledge the closet exists.
(I know that this probably isn’t realistic at all, but this is the same series as curses, animatronics that body swap with you, and Fazgoo. I think it can afford to be a little unrealistic) (Also, ✨Joy and whimsy✨🥺)
Now, I know that this isn’t the case for all trans people, or even most of them, but Pete knew he was a boy from a young age. Ever since he could tell the difference between being a guy and a girl.
Thankfully, his parents were quite accepting, especially considering it was the 80s. Hooray! 🎉
I imagine a silly little moment in my head would be when Pete was young, and still being raised as a girl. His parents did the classic thing that I felt like all parents, or at least parents of kids with long hair, did, of going ‘ooo I’d you get something in your hair (with that either being knots or actually something) we’ll have to cut it…’ - as a threat. Tiny Pete did not see this as a threat. He saw it as a promise.
So the next day, he got gum in his hair, and was like ‘guess we’ll have to cut it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯’

So, Pete (and all the teens for that matter, but Pete is my silly little guy, so this is about him) goes through quite a bit of character development, as seen above.
This is because he died and joined the ‘Fazgang’ in 1985. The latest the story goes up to (so far) is the mid 2030s. That’s 50 years. 50 years to grow, and change, and develop.
Which is why in some of my doodles, Pete’s a pretty cool guy. He still does get angry from time to time, because you can’t really control that, but he expresses it in a healthy way, and also doesn’t let it bubble up inside of him until it explodes like a volcano.
Like in the story.

“Yellow is my favourite colour, yes, but I don’t want to go like… blonde. I don’t really know if I’d suit blonde hair. If I wanted to go blonde, I could just bleach my hair. And I also don’t want to go neon, I don’t want to look like a tennis ball.” She groaned, running her fingers through her straightened black hair, long nails slightly scratching her scalp as her back leaned on the side of her bed. “I’m thinking maybe a pink? Or a purple? EUGH! I DON’T KNOW!” Throwing her head back against her bed, her eyes wandered the ceiling like it was a map to the answers. “What about you, what do you think?” she turned her head so that she was looking up at him. Sideways. He was laying on her bed (That he had oh so evil-y STOLEN) in a way that was reminiscent of girls at a sleepover, giggling over telling some horror story that wasn’t really all that scary, all things considered. There was a book, text side up because they were supposed to be doing homework, but they inevitably got sidetracked with tangents and all things unrelated. He was smiling at her fondly, his cheek resting against his fist as he listened to her totally real and serious woes.
“Honestly, I think you’d look nice with any colour or type of hair.” She felt her face grow warm as she smirked. “So what, you want me to look like a traffic cone?” “You could pull off being a traffic cone” She rolled her eyes and grinned as he continued. “As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted…” He shot her a glare. She remained deadpan. “You’re complaining that you can’t pick a colour, right?” She nodded. “Why not choose all of them? You know, go rainbow” At the last word he did mini jazz hands, before quickly stopping so he didn’t fall on his face. He was such a dork. She contemplated what he said. Humming she answered “That… could work. But I don’t want to be too inconvenient to the hair stylist. I feel like choosing a bunch of colours that would work well together would be really difficult, and I wouldn’t want them to not be nice together, and braiding hair already seems hard, AND-”
“Maria” “Peter” She shot back, the two interrupting each other. He squinted at her in confusion. “...Peter? That’s not my name.” “What ever are you talking about, Pete-illiam?” She blinked innocently at him, like she didn’t know what she was doing. He looked at her, like he was done with his existence on earth, but she could see him try not to burst out laughing. “Ah, of course, how could I be mistaken, Maria…-y” He trailed off, trying to find a good fake ending to her name. “Anyways… Maria-ton… I think you’re spiraling. You have a relative that’s a hair stylist, right? Why not ask her if she’d find doing multicoloured braids more annoying than one colour ? Depending on what she says, you can change what you do.”
Huh.
“I think that’s the first smart thing you’ve said today.” She said, smirking up at him. He gasped, placing a hand on his chest in mock outrage. “How DARE you?! After all I’ve done for you, clearing out my busy schedule just to hang out and do homework with you. You should feel ashamed.” Falling back on the bed dramatically with one hand placed on his forehead, so that they were both staring up at the ceiling. It was almost like they were star gazing, but not really at all. She liked the fun banter that they had between each other. They didn’t get to hang out like this as much because Pete recently had started to get more busy doing… doing…
A question popped to the forefront of Maria’s mind. “Hey Pete?” She asked, still staring at the ceiling. “Yeah?” “How come you’ve been so busy lately?”
Only the quiet answered her back. “Pete?” She questioned, moving her head to get him in her field of vision. “… oh uh, my parents are making me babysit Chuck more…” He’s fiddling with his hands like he doesn’t quite know what to do with them. Maria can tell that his stare is focused on them like they’re the most interesting thing in the room. She feels like the air in the room has shifted, if ever slightly. “… And… why’s that?”
He shrugged. “They’re just… fighting more. It’s no big deal” Silence. “Pete…” “I don’t want to talk about it.” He bit (Not bite, never bite) back as he sat up, a scowl etched on his face. She swallowed. “… ok.”
If she felt the air of the room shift before, it was nothing compared to this. Way to be a buzzkill Maria. She suddenly wanted to say something, anything, to distract from the tension in the room-
“Did you know that pirates carried around tubs of lemons with them in order to not get scurvy?” … like that, sure. Good going Maria. Pete turned to face her in bewilderment. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He tried again. “… Huh?” Mission distraction: success. “Uh huh, it’s 100% true, didn’t you know?”
He squinted at her. “I didn’t know you were a well of pirate facts” he said suspiciously. “Yarg” she winked at him and held one of her fingers in a claw formation, imitating a hook. He snorted, covering his mouth with one of his hands. “But there’s no way that’s true” He grinned. Shrugging, she responded “Well I’m a well of pirate facts, so they’re all 100% true, like I said.” she did not know if her tubs of lemon facts were indeed true. She made it up.
“Nuh uh” “Yuh huh” His face scrunched up like he ate one of her imaginary lemons. “No way” “Yeah way” She wasn’t one to admit defeat in her fun facts, even if she knew she was wrong. She bit the inside of her cheek, to stop herself from laughing. “You’re trying not to laugh!” Dang it. “I have zero clue what you’re talking about~” she said, holding back her giggles. “Oh it is on” before she could register what he meant by that, her vision was invaded by a pillow. To the face.
Oh it was on.
“You’re so gonna regret that” grabbing the pillow from his wicked hand, she returned the favour by whacking him in the face with it. As a response he let out an oomph. “What have you got to say about tha-” she squealed as she dodged another pillow he collected.
They fought each other off, engaging in the ever vicious pillow fight. Pillows flew around the room from the teens. Like this was the only moment in time that actually mattered. Like they wouldn’t have responsibility placed on them at their too young age. Like this was the worst thing either of them would ever face. Like they could maybe, in the future, do this again.
Unfortunately, that’s not true.
“Maria” Pillows stopped their trajectory, as the two looked at the doorway. Maria’s little sister was there, standing impatiently at the door. She didn’t know how someone so young could be so impatient, especially when she had her whole life ahead of her. She wasn’t aging rapidly or anything. Her sister nodded to the door. “Pete’s mom is here.” And she was off. Maria rolled her eyes as Pete picked up his bag and books. Siblings.
Their steps echoed around the house as each foot landed on a stair. “Thanks for letting me come over Maria” Pete said as she opened the door. “Any time” As he passed through her doorway to the car that he was being picked up in. Something at the edge of her vision caught her attention. “-Pete wait-” he paused before he could take a step closer to the car.
She plucked his baseball cap from the coat hanger behind her door (her parents didn’t like hats inside) and placed it on his head, smothering his dark hair with it. He adjusted it as she replied “Don’t want to forget your hat, do you?”
He beamed at her, and she felt lucky to see it. “Thanks Maria” his smile turned soft, before turning around to go home again. She stood there, as he walked down the short pathway to his parents car.
She stood there, as he pushed his way through the crowd, rubbing his hand, trying to get away from her.
Her throat tightened. She placed the scissors she had to use back on the table, the broken remains of the hand sized finger tap laying underneath them.
It was meant to be a prank! A harmless prank!

Shut up-
(Warm sticky blood, splattering against the parts of her face that weren’t covered by the mask. Ringing and screams enveloping her ears as she stared up in horror)
SHUT UP.
She swallowed, looking away. Rubbing her fingers against the red scarf around her neck, she took a deep breath in, then out.
Even though she didn’t know how much it would’ve affected him, it still wasn’t a cool move on her part. He was clearly going through… something. Especially with the giant gash on his cheek.
She formulated a plan in her head quickly. He often went to Freddy’s to look after Chuck after school, so she would intercept his route before he got there. Then she would apologise, they would be on good terms again, and she could hang out with him while he babysat, maybe.
Yes, that’s exactly what would happen. …Right?
Her head was in autopilot mode as she continued to run the stall (minus the hand trap, obviously). She was going over, checking, double checking, making sure her plan was going to work, and that there wasn’t an unthought of variable. He didn’t have football practice that he had to go too, and thankfully her coach knew the cheer team was going to be pretty unmotivated after the generally lazy and chill atmosphere of this carnival-
Huh.
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as students started jogging and heading all in one way. She leaned her head over her stall in the direction that the teens started running. More and more kids joined in in confusion to see what the fuss was about. She noticed some of the teachers running too, looking panicked.
That caught her attention.
It apparently caught the attention of most of the other students too, as the noise from the crowd increased, and more people quickly joined. She ducked around her stall, joining the crowd too. No one said that she wasn’t a follower.
(She grinned, grabbing one of his brother's feet, as the boy sobbed that he didn’t want to see him. Cackling filled the group, as they dragged him to the stage, to get him up close and personal to see one of his worst nightmares)
She pushed and shoved her way through the crowd, hearing only the loud sound of other people, drowning out her own thoughts.
What it didn’t drown out, was the sudden screams and shouts of horror and terror. She found herself pushing through the crowd harder. She passed the open doors of the front school to find police and ambulance sirens, wailing through the air
(A blanket was wrapped around her, as sirens enveloped the air. His sobs were somehow louder, screaming over and over again how sorry he was. The recipient didn’t hear any of this.)
Don’t think about that.
She found herself forcing herself to be at the front of the other teens, frozen like a maze of statues, to see… it.
No.
Oh god.
Oh god please no.
Tears welled up in her eyes before she even knew what she was looking at.
There was blood. So much blood. It splattered and sprayed against the concrete road and the dented front of a truck. But it didn’t stop there.
It was smeared and dragged along the ground, to just behind paramedics and officers, doing their best to not let the sight traumatise the teens. They were failing.
The red had pooled around like a lake, stickying their shoes with the substance. Inflecting everything in sight.
But… that wasn’t the worst part. To others maybe, but not to her. Not to her.
The worst part, the part that shattered any sense of stability in this moment, was a plain. White. Shoe.
It wasn’t so plain anymore, the shoe so saturated in that stupid red that one might mistake it of originally being that colour.
But she knew what those shoes were supposed to look like-
(“Are those new shoes?” She asked. He grinned, kicking his foot forwards so that he ended up hopping on one of his legs in an attempt to not topple over. “Yup! Pretty cool am I right?” She ended up needing to rush over so that he didn’t fall on his face. They laughed about it after-)
A shaky breath holding the last of her mental strength was let out, her trembling body in its wake-
(A ball rolled over, bumping at her feet. A young boy, though she was the same age as him at the time, approached her. “Sorry that’s my ball” he said, as he picked it up. He looked at her, pausing, then asking “Do you want to play with me?” She agreed. As they were walking, they introduced themselves to each other. “Thanks for agreeing to play with me. I just haven’t seen you around before, and you looked lonely. Oh! My names -)
She felt her body crumple to the ground-
(“You’ve seen them in person?!” His eyes sparkled at her reply. She nodded, grinning. “That’s so cool! I really want to see them, but my brother’s too scared of them, and my parents would only let me see the band if he wanted to see them” he gave an over exaggerated face of annoyance. She giggled-)
-her breathing coming in short gasps-
(She stole a bite of his icecream, his face morphing into shock and outrage. She burst out laughing-)
(They walked across the hallway, talking about the most incomprehensible of things like they made any sense. They made sense to the two of them-)
(She held his hand in hers, giving it a soft squeeze. “Thank you so much for trusting me with this secret.” He wiped the few tears that appeared away from his eyes-)
(They wildly waved at each other across the field at practice-)
(She told him how smart he was at a certain point he made, and saw as his cheeks became flustered and pink-)
(He passed her one of his last pieces of gum without second thought-)
(He beamed at her, after adjusting his hat. She felt so lucky to see him smile like that at her-)
(She passed him going to sit down, as he angrily stared at his food, like it was the cause of all his troubles. Like IT was the cause of his parents-)
(She paused as she was leaving practice, seeing him being chewed out by his coach for his attitude on the field-)
(He smirked at her. “Don’t know about you, but I was never like that.” She smirked back. “Sure”-)
(He wasn’t in class that day, his seat remaining empty-)
(“Whoa, what happened to you?” She indicated to her own cheek, paralleling the gruesome scar across his. "Hey, Maria." Pete shrugged. "It was a dumb fishing accident”-)
(“My hand’s stuck!”-)
(When the trap fell away, his hand had turned to a gruesome purple. Her eyes widened-)
("You just shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have tried to trick me. I thought we were cool." She swallowed. She felt her cheeks redden with shame as she replied “We are-)
(She just stood there, as he pushed his way through the crowd-)
She would never see him again.
She would never get the chance to apologise.
-as she started to scream. Tears streaming down her face as she wailed and sobbed. She was sorry. She was so so sorry.
The door chimed as she stepped out of the salon. She walked away from the hustle and bustle of the store, not being able to stop herself from fiddling with her new hairstyle. After… after it, she had wanted to get herself a new hair style. Change it up a bit. Considering she was a young adult now (when did THAT happen) and not 16, or even 14 anymore, she has more freedom with her hair. Not following school rules. She ran her fingers between them, feeling every texture mixed with her hair. She had gotten braids. She wanted to get braids for a while, but she just never found the time. Now was the time, she supposed. New life, new hair. She took a breath of air in, as she continued walking. Back then, she didn’t know what colour to go with, not proceeding with the chance because of hesitation. She knew what she wanted to do now though. Each braid was a different colour. Rainbow, essentially.
(“Why not choose all of them? You know, go rainbow”)
She wiped at her eyes, compelling them to not get misty. She still missed him, even though… the accident was years ago…
Before she could continue walking, she felt a piece of paper smack into her due to the wind.
She grabbed it, fully intending to put it in her the bin, when she noticed bright and bold text. A flier then.
She skimmed over it. Seemed like it was hiring people to… be a beta tester for some new VR game?
She put the flier into her purse, noting to herself that she would check it out later. She did need to get herself a new job anyways. What’s the worst that could happen?
So, originally, I wanted to make this after I posted some more head canons and stuff to my blog.
To bad past me though, because I finished this very VERY quickly. It was like I was struck with divine inspiration or something.
(Btw, sorry if the grammar or spelling is awful. I didn’t have a beta reader, and I wrote this in a frenzy. I’ll probably go back and fix any mistakes I made)

Ok, so I want to share with you guys… essentially my au funfacts? Idk how else to explain it, but it's essentially some small little things that are good to keep in mind for my au. You’ll get what I mean once I get into the examples
So, let’s get into the funfacts!
1. Golden siblings and Toysnhk
In my au, Cassidy and Andrew are siblings, with Cassidy being the older sister by 2 years, and Andrew being the younger brother. This is because they have slightly similar appearances (Black hair), and fufill a similar role in the games vs books. And also because I want to. I have my own personal plan of how their deaths work. So, Cassidy dies in the mci, in 1985. Andrew dies a few years later in the dci, 1987. So now Andrew will forever be the same age as his older sister.
In regards of Toysnhk, the answer is a bit complicated. Yes, Cassidy is toysnhk/ the vengeful spirit, but both her and Andrew created ultimate custom night. Let me explain. In this au, both Cassidy and Andrew created and are keeping William in ucn. However, they both do very different things. Cassidy torments William herself, making him see the animatronics, and essentially play ucn. Andrew keeps William in a state so that he can experience ucn, keeping him stuck in the weird death comba thing referenced in ‘The man in room 1280’. This is because they both seem like they hate William and want to torture him, and since they both exist (mashup of games and books) it feels weird to include one but not the other. Also, I would imagine ucn takes A LOT of effort, so it’s easier to delegate tasks. And also I want to.
But if both Cassidy and Andrew are making ucn, then why is Cassidy Toysnhk? Glad you asked. Well for one it’s ‘The ONE you should not have killed’ so it can’t be both of them. And the in universe explaination is that they partially view William killing Cassidy to have lead to Andrews death. If Cassidy wasn’t killed in the mci, then she would’ve probably been around to stop Andrew from dying in the dci (him not being alone, stopping him from wandering off on his own, etc)
2. Vanny is not Vannesa, and weird stasis chambers.
I think I touched on this in my big ‘Au explanation’ post, but Vanny is not Vanessa. The main reason is because before security breach came out, everyone was theorising who Vanny was. I was on the side that ‘Vanny isn’t Vanessa’... mainly because I saw a merch statue of the two together, and I just didn’t like the idea of it. So I added my own headcannons, and made her be merged with a different 2 characters. But once security breach came out, it turned out that Vanny WAS Vanessa. However, I got attached to my version of Vanny, and didn’t want to change it. Now, even though 90% of my old au is inaccurate and outdated, I am still attached to this headcannoned version of Vanny, so I’m keeping it. It’s my au, I can be canon divergent if I want to.
Vanny’s true identity is completely different from Vanessa, but there is a watsonian reason why Vanny looks like Vanessa. If Vanny gets unmasked, it’s to frame her and get away scott free. She does this by using illusion disks to look like Vanessa, if slightly off. She (under the guide of glitchtrap) would use illusion disks a lot, in order to… idk, do generally mindcontrolled things? She would use them to disguise every part of herself so that she couldn’t get found out. Her facial structure, her age, her race, her gender, everything.
Now who is Vanny, actually? Well, she’s both the chica bully from Fnaf 4, and Maria Rodriguez from step closer. The reason that she’s Maria is because step closer is my favourite fazbear frights book (for some reason…) and I wanted to put more importance on the side characters. Also probably some other reasons, but I forgot them. But wait- you might ask. Didn’t you say that Pete, at the age of 16, died in 1985? Wouldn’t Maria be the same age? And security breach is in the 2030’s. How old is Vanny?! And the answer to that is… William sucks.
Ok ok, here’s the actual explanation. William does a lot of human experiments, to do a ton of things, mostly figure out remnant. He created the funtimes to capture kids so that he could experiment on them. He killed the Mci kids to experiment with possession/remnant/what ever. He created the lonely freddy’s to hypnotise kids… probably for experimentation (I will talk about it later). So William likes experimentation. So at one point he wants to do more experiments (Post ‘87) and who else to test it on but some teens/young adults that he REALLY hates. Like, perhaps, the teens who killed his youngest son in ‘83? Keeping them in stasis chambers, never aging.
That’s the watsonian explanation. The doylist explanation is that I didn’t think about it, and had to find a reason for it to make sense, but it would work for the characters. I (among with many others) hold the headcannon that Bonnie bully (who is Jeremy in my au) is Cassie’s dad. The tormentors (- Mike, because he’s already dead at that point in my au, and also Williams son) would be ‘released’ at different times, so they would all be different ages by at different times. Idk, it is how it is.
3. A dozen or so people missing… Alec, what are you doing here?
So, as stated above, and in my long explanation post, William created the Lonely Freddy’s, in order to do experiments and whatever else he does. The lonely freddy’s were designed to body swap with kids, and pretend to be them until William needed them. Then William would send some sort of signal, and all the Lonely Freddy’s would go to a location that he chose, like some sort of warehouse or something, so William could experiment with/on them. And that’s exactly what happens. A couple or so months after Alec got swapped, dozens of people, mostly kids, but some adults and teens as well, mysterously vanished in the middle of the night. These people were all swapped with lonely freddy’s. This is kinda inspired by the 2025 movie ‘weapons’ exept I haven’t actually watched it, and they don’t naruto run.
The incident is not linked to Fazbears, because no one actually went missing at fazbears, and no one would have any reason to think fazbears was involved in this incident. Even though ALL of the missing people did go to Freddy Fazbears Pizza at some point, the times the people would’ve gotten swapped could be months, or maybe even a few years after going. It’s like if a dozen people went missing and someone says that it’s mcdonalds fault because all the missing people went to mcdonalds at least once in the last 2 years. No one would believe them, or even come to that conclusion at all, so it’s not linked.
This is the reason why Alec also is able to meet Toby. On that night, a lonely freddy that swapped with a fazbear employee (because that happened) collected all of the ‘lonely freddy’ robots in order for the other half of William’s experiments, and Alec was able to slip though the cracks, and stay at the pizzeria.
So Alec’s family gets to experience the loss of their child, just a few months late 👍
4. The nightmares and who they belong to… -ish
The Fnaf 4 nightmares belong to both Michael afton and Cc (Crying Child). Now, how does that work? We know that Michael experienced the nightmares because of the security logbook. Paraphrasing here, but there is some writing in the book that says ‘do you get nightmares’ and Michael draws nightmare fredbear (or nightmare, but it’s just lineart). We know Mike draws this because the things that he writes/draws is in red pen, and the drawing’s in red pen. So, Michael experienced the nightmares. But it feels wrong for Cc to not experience them at all. So they both experience the nightmare animatronics. Cc as actual real nightmares and Michael…
It’s theorised that William made some sort of nightmare experiment chamber. Because in sister location, there are cameras of the fnaf 4 house, in ucn one of the nightmares says ‘This time, there is more than an illusion to fear’ and ‘I have been made of flesh, by the one you should not have killed’ (Again paraphrasing), so they weren’t real before. Also apparently dittophobia has some evidence, but I haven’t read it. The point is, in my au William made nightmare experiments that Michael had to go through, parrelling what Cc experienced in his dreams.

Got inspired by Reed being more popular in the Fazbear frights tag, and him being more popular, so I added some doodles I did of him for it!
So I got inspired by the 'Reed has Moral OCD' headcanon by @orcatstra, so I did some doodles of him... either having it or something similar? (Idk what was going through my head, I drew this a couple of days ago)

Ok, so people who know the breaking wheel story may be like '...Why is Julius being nice to Reed?' And I do actually have an answer that is canon to my au!
So I imagine that a couple of weeks after their deaths, that's when our frights gang find them, and get pretty sick of their arguing/fighting/hatred-of-each-other. They form a truce with each other, agreeing that fighting all the time is pretty usless and a detriment to the team, or something like that. Not those exact words.
Their relationship goes from enemies (while alive) -> HATRED, THEY HATE EACH OTHER (right after their deaths) -> Shaky truce (After they join the fazgang) -> something? where they are mean and snarky, but can sometimes get along -> Frenimes -> friends that are mean to each other but in a friend way
And their relationship continues from then.
ALSO, this is a very very gradual thing. They die in 2027/2028, and get to the friends point at around 2033-2035, so at the very least 5 years.
Above is a doodle from... a good couple of weeks ago? A while at least. It shows how pre-death(s), Reed was much more scared of Julius, cowardly, and letting Juluis get away with bullying him (Literally canon), as TBW events is a break from the norm, and the one time he stands up for himself.
After their death(s) however, Reed is much less willing to put up with Julius being an A-hole. This is due to ghosts not really being able to feel pain, so Julius doesn't really have anything to threaten Reed with (Other than their shared possession exosuit, but Julius is in that too) and also due to the fact Reed is DONE with dealing with Julius 24/7 and he's at the end of his rope, and probably Reed being mad at Julius for killing him (despite his guilt for it).
Oh, the context to the bread one specifically is a not-really-canon-but-could-be-canon-in-the-right-circumstances situation, where because the teens have illusion disks to 'Be alive', they have to do typical alive things, like eat. Because they are going from place to place, with no adults, home, or job, they are essentially homeless. That sometimes makes them resort to stealing things, like bread. Reed is feeling ultra guilty, worrying a ton.
(Also, sorry if I somehow depict OCD or other mental illnesses badly. I want to do my best to depict them with accuracy and kindness. I didn't go into depth with them here, but it is important to me.)

Ok, so I think I want to explain the basis of my au. I will delve into the basic concept, kinda the timeline because that’s pretty important, and major facts for this to make sense.
This discusses some points of the Fnaf timeline (I would probably make a seperate post maybe of just the timeline and the order of events), remnant and possession mechanics. This is kinda a generally confusing time? But so is most of fnaf, so 🤷♀️
Let’s get into it!
(Btw! Under the cut is extremly long and includes fnaf spoliers for... most fnaf things?)
So, my au combines the fnaf games, book trilogy, and fazbear frights into one existing universe, though I will mostly focus on the frights books probably. (I will say, I haven’t read the frights books after Gumdrop Angel, so any of those characters won’t be in my au)
The concept surrounding the frights characters, and the main part of the au (?) is that the dead, or bad ending teens, come together and form a group, in the same vein as scooby doo, or like the creepypasta fandom?, in order to deal with general fazbear weirdness and have friends/found family.
Their group started due to the stitchwraith meeting the first 2 members, and over the next couple of decades collecting more members like cats
Talking about the first 2 members, let’s go into the order that our members joined/died!
Members:
The first to die in our timeline (Frights characters) is Toby Billing’s Hide-and-seek. He dies in 1983, after the bite, not in Hurricane. He is placed very early in the timeline due to Fazbears pizzeria being in its high, so pre-mci (which in my au is 1985). Shadow Bonnie exists due to time travel ballpit weirdness that I’m unsure if I’ll dive into. Due to soul possession weirdness, Toby’s soul is stuck being a shadow creature, like shadow Bonnie. He spent most of his time alone, trying his best to play the arcade games at night. Until…
Our second character in our group is only a year later in 1984, at the same location as Toby. Surprising!
Alec Shelly Lonely Freddy (That last name isn’t canon, but I did choose it for a reason!). After being stuck in the dumpster for a couple of months, his situation changes one night. An employee comes in and starts taking all the Lonely Freddys/other kids away. Luckily, Alec is able to slip through the cracks and be stuck at the location, where he eventually meets Toby, and they hang out for a small while in a random room. It takes place in 1984 because Freddys is at its hight, AND I have a reason for the Lonely Freddys being made. William Afton made the body swapping toys at around the same time, and for the same purpose as the funtimes. Both of these animatronics were to seem innocent at first, and then get kids to do experiments on. But just because the Lonely Freddys were made at the same time, doesn’t mean it’s at the same time.
This is when our group officially starts being a group
The stitchwaith who absolutely didn’t time travel to the past for this exact purpose because I imagine in Fnaf time travel works if you did something in the past it causes the future (Terminator rules), why would you ever think that- goes to the location housing Toby and Alec and forms the group, essentially telling them to go on missions and that kind of stuff. On one of these missions we meet…
Pete Dinglewood Step closer in 1985, pre-mci. This takes place in 1985 because Freddys is open and thriving, Pete and Chuck’s mother is INCREDIBLY overprotective and would never allow them to go to Freddys if there were missing kids, and a certain side character in Step closer is the same in a very major game event, but we’ll hop into that later. Point is, Pete after being hit by a truck and getting his eye and arm stolen, seems find his soul stuck in his dead body and can’t move on.
This is because in my interpretation, the curse was to make Pete EXPERIENCE losing his eye and arm. If Pete lost his arm and eye, then died, he would be able to move on to the afterlife perfectly fine. However, due to him dying before he could experience ‘becoming a pirate’ the curse was like wait no- and shoved Pete’s soul back into his body to see the doctors stealing his body parts. BUT, you can’t just shove a soul into a body and then a couple hours later being like thanks for your time, you can go now no, that’s not how it works (In my au). So Pete’s soul is now stuck in his dead body. Don’t worry about the corpse rotting like our resident Michael however, the curse… Idk didn’t let the body rot because you can’t be a zombie AND a pirate, that’s too many clashing demographics. The only time the curse was good.
ANYWAYS (can you tell Pete might be my favourite) Pete manages to not lose any other body parts, and finds himself in a back alley, where Toby and Alec (wow, we haven’t seen them in a while!) find him. They stick together and become close friends together, until our next contestant, quite later.
2008-2009, in Hurricane Utah, we meet…
Devon Blaine Marks The new kid. This takes place a lot later than our other stories, due to Freddys actually being abandoned and closed. 2009, because the Twilight movies are referenced by Kelsey (You may be wondering why I take into account twilight movies into the timeline placement and not the fact that cellphones/ texting exist in the previous stories? But shhh, I’ll talk about it later). It takes place in HURRICANE specifically, because of our pal Golden Freddy.
Freddy Fazbears pizzaria is a big food chain, with having locations across the American state. Fredbears family diner, is a small restaurant only in the town of hurricane. Fredbears family diner is the only location with our 2 yellow friends. Spring Bonnie, and Fredbear. After the bite of ’83, our spring lock suits get moved to the Freddys location in the same town, where Fredbear becomes Golden Freddy. There is only one Golden Freddy.
Some additional info that may be helpful. This takes place before into the pit, due to Jeffs not existing.
So, the new kid in this au is in hurricane. Our Fazfrights gang, Toby, Alec and Pete were investigating some railroad tracks due to a certain… big bird, with black feathers, being there in some years prior. For some reason or another, they go to the Freddys location and get to meet a newly dead Devon. Yay! Another person to the team!
Our next member of our team is a girl. Finally! Millie Fitzsimmons count the ways. This is the first story that I’m actually not fully sure what year it should be. Definitely post 2009, and pre-2017 for… reasons. But around this era. This also takes place in hurricane because Funtime Freddy, and Circus baby rentals in general, probably weren’t state wide, because their main location closed the day of its opening. Anyways, Millie joins the team! (Sorry Millie fans for being brief with this one…)
After a certain major fire, burning down a pizzaria that’s been only open for a week wow, that’s crazy in 2019, in 2020 (no covid, lucky. Well, they do have to deal with evil animatronics, body swapping, ghosts, curses, and so much other stuff, so equal payoff?) again in hurricane, we get Sarah to be beautiful! Yippee! Another one collected like Pokémon!
Why it takes place after the Fnaf 6 fire is due to Circus baby. More specifically, a factor from the novels. We all know circus baby right? Clown themed animatronic that has red pigtails and colour scheme, whose eyes turn from blue to green due. Who’s someone else with this similar description? Yup, Eleanor. In my au, Eleanor is the same robot as Circus baby, after Elizabeth’s soul has left and it’s just remnant. Now you may say ‘oh but Eleanor is really skinny! They can’t be the same!’ And this is where the novels play in. In the 3rd Fnaf novel, Circus baby shows up as a skinnier version of herself, that can transform between the game version, and a more humanoid proportioned version. This ‘skinny baby’ is an altered version of Eleanor. ‘What do you mean by the remnant of baby?’ …put a pin in that.
So far we have Toby, Alec, Pete, Devon, Millie, and Sarah. Our next 2 friends are a 2 for one deal, and so far, the last 2 in our fazbear frights gang (we will be able to move on soon!)
These 2 members join in the late 2020 (don’t remember the exact year, I think it’s written down somewhere where I can’t access it right now) pre-pizzaplex and FINALLY aren’t from Hurricane! Drumroll for Reed and Julius, the breaking wheel! These 2 members join after our frights gang hear about a walking exoskeleton with some pulverised corpses in it! Joy! This takes place pre-pizzaplex specifically is because this fact helps link this story to the fazbear brand.
The mega pizzaplex in this universe was created fairly quickly, within a couple of years. This is because fazbear entertainment, being the scummy brand it is, doesn’t want to pay workers to build the giant mall. So, they use exoskeletons, as they are stronger than people, don’t need to get paid, can work 24/7, and can’t sue if they get damaged. How does this relate to the breaking wheel? Well, one of Julius’s parents (probably his father) works with fazbear entertainment, to help build/create the animatronics. Julius’s father’s involvement with these exoskeletons helped inspire Julius for his OWN exoskeleton.
So, that’s all of the fazbear frights main members and when they join, other than the stitchwraith, which I may delve into later!
Extra expanded knowledge:
Alec’s last name
Shelly is Alec’s last name. This is because I love making characters related to each other. So, I made a certain blond, green eyed woman be Hazel (Alec’s sister)‘s daughter from the future. That woman being Vanessa security breach. Now, in the games, we don’t get a canonical last name, so I based Vanessa’s last name on the fake (? I haven’t watched the movies) name from the movie. The movies aren’t canonical to my au, but it was a neat starting point.
Step closer’s side game character
So, who is this side character who was at a major game event. Introducing Maria Rodriguez, Pete’s friend/crush, who happened to wear a certain accessory… that her friends also wore… in 1983.
That’s right, in my au Maria is the Chica bully! (And someone else, but we’ll get to that soon) After the bite, she moved to a nearby town with her family that some of her other relatives live in. I imagine she already knows Pete, due to him saying they meet in 6th grade.
Now who is this other character that I merged with Maria? Well in order for the timeline to make sense I will add some backstory.
William Afton is a bit… not in the best headspace, who got incredibly angry at the ‘hooligans’ who helped kill his son. So, he found them when they were older and kinda kidnapped them to do experiments or something. Point is, the age a lot slower (I know this doesn’t make much sense and I’m reaching, but I do have something to reach for, so). After… that, Maria finds herself working for fazbear entertainment, specifically in the Vr department…
In this universe, vanny isn’t Vanessa, it’s Maria.
I know that it makes sense if Vanny is Vanessa, but I came up with this part of the old au BEFORE the security breach game came out and I really don’t want to change it.
Cellphones
So, how are there cellphones/texting in the 1980s? I came up with a new piece of technology that could actually hypothetically be supported by canon evidence. That is the A-phone (instead of IPhone, haha, I’m funny). This is a kinda primitive IPhone, with mainly just calls and texting created by Afton robotics, just around Hurricane. I created this new APhone because the fact that there are phones is WAY less timeline breaking than popular Freddys locations being open past the 80s. So, what’s the ‘canon evidence’? Fetch. In the Fetch story there is a robot dog called, well, fetch. And fetch is a Freddys robot, from the 80s, that can connect to Greg’s phone. It’s not explained in story WHY it can do this, other than to be creepy I guess, but there should be an ACTUAL reason why it can do this. Insert the APhone. I can definitely imagine Fazbear Entertainment making a product (an animatronic dog) that you need a much more expensive product in order to make work (a phone). It could also be an incentive to get the phone. ‘Get the Aphone and you’ll be able to get your very own animatronic dog!’
Train tracks
In a lot of Fazbear frights stories, there are train tracks. My headcannon/au thing is that all of these train tracks are the same. And I established that the new kid, which has these train tracks, takes place in hurricane, so these stories also take place in hurricane Utah. These stories include Out of stock, 1:35am, the new kid, and blackbird (from memory… that might change)
Kelsey
So, what’s the deal with Kelsey? He is indeed a ghost like the ending implies, and what everyone thinks he is, but I added a unique spin to him. So, commonly in the fnaf/frights fandom, Kelsey is depicted as being ANOTHER soul in the Golden Freddy suit, but often times Devon is too. Makes sense, he died by the suit. That’s neat and cool, but if Kelsey is a vengeful ghost and is doing this too other kids, wouldn’t there be a TON of extra golden Freddy kids e we never see? That’s a lot, and not neat. It could be due to my previously mentioned ‘there is only one golden Freddy suit’ which I still think is true, but I also don’t want Kelsey to be an evil character. I want him to be on the slightly better side of the morality spectrum (and shipping warning, I ship him and Devon as like an enemies to friends lovers slow burn thing, and Kelsey intending to murder Devon kinda harshes the vibe).
So, my version of Kelsey is that he is a ghost that seeks out loner kids (possibly because those are the type of people he hung out with when he was alive?) that possibly have some morality issues, and dies in front of them as a test of character to see if they come clean and then he’ll make things better, or at the very least to traumatise them so they don’t do anything like that again (complicated explanation but eh). Devon however, is where things go wrong. None of the kids Kelsey traumatise are supposed to DIE, but Freddys always finds a way to kill more kids.
Illusion disks/Ghost rules
In my 2 previous posts before this, I brefly mentioned illusion disks. I will go into more depth of how I personally interpret how they work in canon, so that’s how they’ll work in my au. Illusion disks seem to emit a high pitch sound, so high you can’t hear it with the average human ear, that tricks the brains senses into experience something that isn’t there. This is used in the Fnaf trilogy, more obviously on skinny baby into looking like an older charlie, but I also think subtly in the first book, as SPOLIERS (But also if you didn’t know this, why are you reading this far down?) our charlie we know is a robot, but in the silver eye she bleeds. The illusions disks trick the senses into seeing and smelling blood instead of… Idk, oil? The illusion disks are like really effective placebos, that still work even when you know it’s a placebo.
Our fazbear frights protagonists, not immediately, probably in the mid 2010’s, get these Illusion disks in order to blend into everyday life more. Now, a majority of our Fazbear frights group are just souls, with a couple in unique circumstances (Pete and Alec). So, the way I imagine souls work in my universe, is that when they aren’t possessing something (we’ll get into possession soon) they are kinda just wandering souls, and they have their normal typical form. This is where they can’t interact with anything so they pass through walls, etc, and aren’t visible to the average alive person. Their other form that they can take, which is quite difficult and energy draining, so souls dont typically take this form, is where they are visible and CAN interact with things. This is the form William saw the MCI kids in right before he got spring trapped.
For souls possessing animatronics/other things, the soul is either actively in control of the animatronic, where they are in a first person POV from the animatronic, or they aren’t. Typically when they aren’t, this is because they are stuck with another soul (or remnant, we’ll get to it) and the other one is in control. When they aren’t in control, but still possessing something, they kinda live in a floating black void with nothing there (unless there are more souls, where they are also there) or they have the option to wander. Wandering allows them to leave the animatronic, but they can only go a couple of feet away from it, so they can’t go home or anything. If a soul particularly doesn’t want to be possessing an animatronic, if they try REALLY hard, they can break the connection between them and what they’re possessing, and then it’s effectively like they aren’t possessing anything. Imagine it’s like their connection to their animatronic is a shackle on their leg, and if they put a lot of energy and struggle into it, they can break that shackle. This is VERY VERY difficult and energy draining, so it only typically works with people who are older (Sorry MCI kids) and who really want to. Devon did this with golden freddy before he met any of the souls in it, and Reed and Juilius probably did it later, because possessing an endoskelleton with someone you hate who killed you, and not being able to do anything when the other is in control, is not a great time.
To get back on track with illusion disks, our dead teens turn into their solid soul form, THEN put their illusion disk on. Because of how the illusion disk works, it also affects the souls. The illusions disks are used to typically trick people into thinking they look like your average alive teen. Because it also affects the soul, it makes it seem to themselves that they are alive, even when they definitely know they aren’t. Since it affects the souls senses, it essentially traps the soul into staying physical and able to interact with things, because alive people can interact with things!
If the soul is like a switch, then the illusion disk makes the switch jam in the ‘staying physical’ mode.
Now, some of the souls who have missing body parts, eg arms, have to wear prosthetics under their illusion disk (Particularly Pete and Alec). This is because of how the illusion disks work. Yes, the illusion disks trick all senses into experiencing something else, including the souls, so they should be able to interact with things, but there is one flaw in this model. Physical items, like walls, cups, tables, etc, don’t have senses and therefore can’t be tricked. So what? You may be thinking, they have the ability to interact with things because they’re solid, what does it matter if they’re ‘tricked’? I’m glad you asked! If a soul put on an illusion disk to show that they have, lets say, an arm, the soul will feel like they have an arm. They’ll see it, feel it, etc. BUT, if they try to use that not real arm to pick up, say a cup, their arm wouldn’t be able to pick up the cup. It would go straight through, like a video game clipping issue. This is because even if everyone thinks they have an arm, there is no actual arm to pick up said cup. So, if the souls are missing a body part and they want their illusion disk version to have that body part, they have to have a prosthetic underneath to be able to interact with things normally.
Previously in this section, I mentioned that Pete and Alec work slightly differently than everyone else. For Pete, in the step closer section ages ago, I explained how I imagine his curse works, and that the pirate curse made Pete stuck in his body, so he’s possessing it just like an animatronic. Because it’s a human body however, and not an animatronic, combined with the fact that the curse really wedged Petes soul into it, Pete can’t get his soul out of his body at all. So, his Illusion disk would have to go straight onto his body and not his soul.
Alec is in quite a unique circumstance, even compaired to Pete. Everyone else has a dead soul, because they died, they’re dead. But not Alec. He just got bodyswapped with a lonely freddy, it didn’t kill him. Because he’s not technically dead, his soul works with the body like it would if he was just living normally. Normally, you can’t just detach your soul from your body and walk around, so Alec can’t either. So he has to wear the illusion disk right on what he’s possessing, as well as something else. I mentioned the clipping issue and why a soul would have to wear a prosthetic to properly wear an illusion disk, and the issue is most prevalent on Alec. If the illusion disk projected his normal human height, Alec would effectively see out of his knees, and most things would pass through him, which is not good. How he looks as a human could be shrunk down to his Lonely Freddy height, but Alec doesn’t want that. So… Alec gets a mech suit.
Ok, so it’s not literally a mech suit, but it is a metal endo skeleton that he can control, made with proper human proportions.
Remnant
Ok, so, I’m not going to delve into how its created, because honestly I haven’t put too much thought into it, and I’m tired, so I’m not going to explain how it comes into existence. What I AM going to explain is how it works here. If it’s put into an animatronic, it essentially give the animatronic it’s own independent soul, that didn’t come from killing kids. This includes having feelings and wants, having a non-preprogramed personality, and being able to take the wheel of the body if a soul is inside it. It works as its own independent soul. This was put into the funtimes and why they’re… like that. The most prominent example is funtime freddy, especially in count the ways. Since the funtimes have remnant, circus baby would have remnant too. Once Elizabeth has been fired (heh) from circus/scrap baby, that remnant becomes eleanor. Because I want it too.

Wow, I say now, so, due, however, and because A LOT in this. Sorry about that. This post has taken me a WHILE to write, taking hours across a few days, and at this very point, the word count is 3951. Jeez. Well, if you’ve made it this far, I can’t thank you enough. This isn’t even everything from the au, but it should hopefully be a comprehensive understanding of my au. A future post might be the timeline, and I might be comfortable enough to post doodles in the future, even relating to my non-fnaf interests, but idk. I like being a passive observer.
