the urge to write a villain as multi-dimensional in their goals and motives that has a chance of getting better (because there’s always multiple viewpoints to the same story and “people that have fucked up CAN be better given the opportunity” is a really good message)

vs. the desire to write a comically one-dimensional villain that is clearly Evil™️ and has/will have zero intention of trying to get better or redeem themself because they refuse to see that their way is anything other than right (because it’s a sad reflection of reality and hating on that character can be a coping mechanism for what many of us are going through right now)

character being possessed/mind controlled who sees the person they love and INSTANTLY snaps out of it and takes control because they just Mean So Much To Them and their love for them is quite literally stronger than anything

#can be applied to platonic and/or familial pairings as well- not just romantic ones #writing idea stuff #is it a bit overpowered? maybe. but i Do Not Care
