there was nobody in the world she trusted more than conner , not even her own family . for the past 10 years , conner was the boy who protected her from the harsh world . her best friend , protector . from bullies on the school yard , to drunk men in bars , to her own emotions , he was always there to protect her . now he was her lover , things were different , but she felt like she would never doubt how much he cared for her . alanna looked down as she began speaking . “ well i was just talking to caro & she mentioned that you two were kinda like , talking ? vibing or whatever . and then she felt kinda played because she thought you liked her and stuff , then you’re with me all of a sudden , ” she explains , licking her lips as she looks back up at her boyfriend .
conner let out a sigh, his hands pinching the bridge of his nose at her words as he realized what this was all about now. looking at her figure standing in front of him, “we were chilling, like we’d kick it and i was getting to know her.” he began honestly knowing that honesty was the only policy to follow in a situation as such. “that’s the thing, though. i was getting to know her.” he now brought himself to the edge of the bed, letting his feet hit the floor and his arms to reach out and pull alanna in opening his legs for her to stand between them. “nothing serious ever occurred between us, light flirting and some vibes thrown around. you’re different,” he looked up at her, “i’ve known you. every bit of you that i could from that platonic stand point, lana. i liked her at the moment, but i’ve loved you for a while. i know that sounds confusing, but to me...in my mind, i was in the friend zone with you and was able to love you from afar. i didn't think i’d ever grow the balls to let you know how i felt because i was scared.” his words weren’t fast and thrown out like they were nothing, but instead they sounded calculated and meticulous. “single me is very different from loyal, taken me and that’s a fact i know and that you know, too. i did not know it went that deep with her on her end as we never really even spoke about how we liked one another. i’m sorry i didn't tell you, i just didn't exactly think it needed to be discussed.”
