she  stands  still  in  her  place  ,  unable  to  move  ,  paralyzed  by  the  thought  of  him  with  another  girl  .  “  you  get  that  it  hurts  ?  no  you  don’t  .  the  person  that  you  had  feelings  for  didn’t  sleep  with  his  exes  on  two  separate  occasions  .  ”  she  retorts  coldly  .  “  because  we  both  wanted  to  ?  you  don’t  want  anything  from  me  stefano  ,  and  you’ve  made  that  crystal  clear  .  ”  she  nods  her  head  at  his  next  comment  ,  because  she  knew  this  was  one  thing  that  he  was  right  about  .  “  no  it  is  a  competition  because  you  made  it  feel  that  way  .  you  made  me  feel  like  i  wasn’t  good  enough  to  be  with  you  ,  that  i  was  doing  something  wrong  because  you  didn’t  want  to  be  with  me  .  yeah  the  screwed  you  over  and  you  had  to  screw  them  .  is  that  what  i  have  to  do  ?  manipulate  you  to  make  you want  me  ?  take  advantage  of  you  ?  because  in  case  you  haven’t  realized  i’m  not  like  them  .  i  can’t  do  that  .  all  i  know  how  to  do  is  love  people  and  clearly  in  this  situation  that’s  not  enough  ,  so  you  know  what  now  it’s  my  turn  to  apologize  .  i  am  sorry  that  i  couldn’t  be  like  them  .  ”  she  scoffs  at  the  idea  of  him  telling  her  in  any  situation  other  than  right  now  .  she  replaces  her  anger  with  sadness  ,  a  more  comfortable  emotion  for  her    there  are  tears  forming  in  her  eyes  ,  as  she  tries  to  speak  ,  getting  choked  up  between  words  .  “  no  you  don’t  get  it  ,  i  waited  years  to  tell  you  how  i  felt  ,  and  you  threw  that  away  to  hook  up  with  your  exes  .  i  shared  parts  of  myself  with  you  that  i’ve  never  shown  to  anyone  else  ,  you  know  things  about  my  family  that  i have  never  told  a  single  soul  except  you  ,  i  kissed  you  ,  i  gave  you  all  of  me  ,  and  right  here  ,  right  now  you  threw  that  all  back  in  my  face  .  i’m  not  the  one  who  screwed  up  here  ,  it’s  you  .  i  just  have  to  know  one  thing  and  then  i’m  done  .  did  you  even  like  me  ?  or  was  that  a  lie  too  ?  ”

the  room  goes  quiet  until  he  speaks  ,  and  it’s  not  the  response  that  she  expects  from  him  .  nina’s  brain  doesn’t  process  the  information  but  she  immediately  moves  from  him  .  “  oh...  ”  her  vision  goes  blurry  ,  and  before  she  knows  it  there  are  tears  in  her  eyes  .  “  well  why  should  i  care  right  ?  it’s  not  like  i’m  your  girlfriend  ,  i’m  just  your  best  friend  and  clearly  you  don’t  give  a  shit  about  how  i  feel  .  god  i  told  you  that  i  loved  you  .  ”  somehow  that  statement  makes  her  feel  sicker  than  the  alcohol  in  her  system  .  and  her  anger  shows  no  signs  of  stopping  as  she  continues  ,  “  i  was  so  stupid  to  think  that  you  could  care  about  anyone  but  yourself  ,  i  thought  this  would  be  some  sort  of  fairy tale  ,  but  that’s  dumb  ol’  nina  i  just  romanticize  everything  ,  right  ?  when  you  kissed  me  what  did you  just  want  me  to  shut  up  ?  why  did  you  not  tell  me  when  i  was  drunkenly  confessing  my  feelings  for  you  ?  why  now  ?  was  this  some  sort  of  ego  thing  for  you  ?  would  you  even  had  told  me  if  i  didn’t  tell  you  how  i  felt  ?  ”  there  were  so  many  more  questions  running  through  her  head  and  by  now  she  moved  from  sitting  in  bed  with  him  ,  to  pacing  back  and  forth  ,  clearly  distressed  .  “  why  are  they  so  much  better  than  me  stefano  ?  what  am  i  clearly  not  doing  that  they  are  ?  why  can’t  you  love  me  like  you  loved  them  ?  ”  she  runs  a  shaky  hand  through  her  hair  .  “  you  know  what  ?  this  was  a  mistake  .  i  am  so  sorry  that  i  even  thought  about  liking  you  ,  because  obviously  you’re  too  caught  up  with  your  exes  .  ”  the  room  seems  to  be  spinning  ,  and  yet  she  seems  stuck  in  her  place ,  this  was  the  dream  she  wanted  to  wake  up  from  .  “  fuck  you  know  what  sucks  ?  i  should  hate  you  .  i  should  .  but  i  genuinely  had  feelings  for  you  .  when  we  get  back  to  new  york  ,  just  don’t  talk  to  me  .  don’t  text  me  .  don’t  even  think  about  me  .  in  fact  just  consider  our  friendship  done  for  .  i  hope  that  kylie  and  ivy  are  good  enough  for  you  ,  because  clearly  i  wasn’t  .  ”  she  looks  to  him  but  immediately  looks  to  the  ground  ,  the  thought  of  seeing  him  with  kylie  and  ivy  made  her  sick  ,  especially  paired  with  the  fact  that  he  kissed  her  as  if  he’d  actually  cared  for  her  ,  her  whole  world  seemed  to  be  collapsing  in  on  itself  .  “  thank  you  for  showing  your  true  colors  .  i  used  to  tell  everyone  that  you  were  such  an  amazing  person  .  thanks  for  proving  me  wrong  .  up  until  five  seconds  ago  i  thought  you  cared  about  me  ,  but  obviously  i  was  wrong  about  that  too  .  good  for  you  though  ,  maybe  you’ll  get  the  relationship  you  deserve  .  ”

“  no  ?  should  i  ?  ”  at  this  point  the  curiosity  is  burning  within  her  ,  but  the  more  she  tries  to  remember  ,  the  hazier  the  events  seem  ,  like  tv  static  in  her  brain. “  i  don’t  remember  .  ”  she  states  clear  confusion  in  her  voice  .  her  heart  suddenly  dropped  when  he  says  the  words  ,  she  wants  to  crawl  out  of  her  skin  ,  but  she  doesn’t  let  it  show  on  her  face  .  “  oh... ”  she  searches  for  the  words  to  say  to  him and  almost  considers  denying  it  .  “  no  ,  i  mean  ,  being  drunk  helped  me  say  them  ,  but  i  feel  it  .  i  don’t  know  for  how  long  ,  but  i’ve  liked  you  .  i  think  i  am  in  love  with  you  ,  but  i  shouldn’t  have  told  you  .  you  probably  don’t  feel  the  same  and  that’s  fine  ,  but  you’re  still  a  good  kisser  .  ”  she  jokes  playfully  ,  making  a  joke  just  felt  more  natural  for  their  dynamic  ,  not  the  serious  conversation  unfolding  between  them  .

nina  wants  to  get  closer  ,  but  she  stays  in  her  place  ,  “  i  remember  truth  or  dare  ,  i  remember  drinking  way  too  much wine  ,  i  remember  kissing  you  .  ”  she  admits  ,  it’s  the  one  thing  that  could  never  forget  ,  the  way  that  he  was  so  gentle  and  soft  .  she  reaches  out  to  touch  his  face  ,  afraid  that  she  was  dreaming  ,  that  she  would  wake  up  .  “  i  don’t  remember  why  we  kissed  ,  how  i  got  into  the  bed  ,  or  why  i’m  wearing  one  of  your  shirts  .  ”  she says  with a  small laugh  .

the  sunlight  beamed  in  nina’s  eyes  ,  she  groans  and  turns  over  .  she  tries  to  reach  for phone  ,  but  realizes  that  it’s  probably  dead  ,  it  is  only  then  she  feels  an  arm  wrapped around  her  ,  she  lazily  open  her  eyes  until  she  sees  stefan  .  and  although  it  had  been something  she  wanted  the  whole  trip  ,  she’d  hoped  that  she  would  remembered  it  . “  stef  ,  hey  stef  wake  up  .  ”  she  whispers  to  him  ,  a  hazy  timeline  of  events  in  her  mind  . “  what  exactly  happened  last  night  ?  the  short  version  if  possible  .  and  also  why  do  i  have  the  worst  hang  over  of my  life  ?  ”  she  asks  .  @stefanohq​
