Let’s Learn How To Make Notes For School!!
Hello everyone!! I’m Tooba and welcome to my first blog! So, I decided my first blog to be for students. During these days online classes are being held for most of us. It’s all good until you started watching Netflix and then ended up missing your class. You could call up a friend and ask the topics covered in that class, or if you’re lucky and have a real friend, you can even ask them for the notes they made. And when you get them, you just pen them down on a sheet or noteboook, in a I’m-just-pretending-to-study way. And then the next day you get unlucky and teacher picks you answer a question related to the topics done yesterday but you, as usual you don’t know the answer, so you make up a lame excuse just to make a fool of yourself in front of everyone. Believe me, this used to happen to me too, until I just put the brakes when you just ask the topic from your friend.
Take a look at those topics, and make notes yourselves as you are more likely to remember the things you write than the things you read. Now, I know many of us find difficulty in making notes. We all might think: “should I write this? Yeah maybe, it looks important. Should I write this too, and this too and this and that and this and that. OMG!! Did I just copy the whole text from the book?!”
Don’t worry, dear reader, this happens with almost all of us. So here I’m giving you some steps which I hope so, will help you a lot:
Many times we just don’t know where to start. If you’re confused, try picking up the topics that were covered in your class before. Or if you want to revise the chapters that are already covered, go for it!! Take a one good week to complete on chapter, and most importantly, take your eyes off your gadgets and focus on the books for studying.
You don’t have to write each and everything!! When your concept is clear, you can explain that one line in your head for a 5 marks answer. It’s not important to learn the exact definition of terms given in the book. Read it carefully and understand it, then write it in your own simple words. This way you’ll be able to remember it much more easily. If there is an explanation for something in a paragraph, read it 3-4 times, choose the important points and try to collect them in your mind. Now, close the book, and write the explanation in your own words. As you finish it, know that you just learnt that explanation in your own simple way!!
When you try the above step, you will get to know how much you can cover in one day. Accordingly, divide the chapter in 6 parts and please try to follow through it!!
Well? Isn’t it easy!! You can also use some coloured pens to make it look more attractive, try drawing diagrams more than explanation as the pictures tend to remain in our brain rather than words.
