I’m going to take Pizza Punx, a local booking outfit who’s founding member has been accused of sexual assault, donating proceeds from their “final show” (Ty Segall) to R.A.I.N.N. as a thinly veiled and long overdue admission of guilt (to the remaining remember’s complicity in the mishandling of the allegations). Save yourself the participation in the celebration of a booking posse that has bolstered their career by booking bigger bands and turning down locals (talk about egoism) and just donate to a local rape / abuse network or shelter. This whole train of events is fucking beyond me. Like, assuming that the statement that vaguely eluded to the allegations being false is accurate (an idea that I don’t subscribe to), then why try to sweep it under the rug only to, for undisclosed reasons, become charitable towards the nation’s most prevelant rape / incest outreach group? This whole deal is shady, and I’ve learned, over the course of the past half a year or so, that the views held by many people in the North Bay on these allegations is one of passivity or blatant denial. If you think a group or individual is doing or has done something wrong - DON’T CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM. I’ve talked about all of this at length with countless people in the Bay Area, and a number of them seem to think that, while acknowledging the allegations as true, it should have little bearing on Pizza Punx and their ability to book shows because, “they’re the only ones doing it”. Accordingly, the current figurehead of Pizza Punx already has a new booking handle (Shock City, to be precise), which will no doubt draw the same, unethical, cult-like support from local kids.

Pizza Punx is a fucking sham. Shock City is a fucking sham. Rest in shit, losers.

P.S. this is not a fuck you to bands that have played Pizza Punx shows, considering I myself have played a handful. Like, Career Suicide just played a Pizza Punx show and I love that band.
