King Albert I of Belgium. When the germans came through belgian lands, in 1914, King Albert went personally to the frontlines to lead the defences, also was comander in chief of the belgian armies and organized the defence of Belgium. He comanded the defences during the Siege of Antwerp, and the Battle of the Yser River. When the belgians were driven back to the last tiny bit of land they had, they took a war of position, dug trenches and held there for the next four years. While King Albert shared all the danger with his fellow soldiers in a trench, his wife, Queen Elizabeth, worked as a nurse in a field hospital near the frontline.

July the 28th, World War I starts [This newspaper was relesaed on August the 5th (And it’s a satire from The Onion, be aware of that)].

Lady Florence Norman, a suffragette, on her motor-scooter in 1916, travelling to work at offices in London where she was a supervisor. The scooter was a birthday present from her husband, the journalist and Liberal politician Sir Henry Norman.
