We Will Be Heroes

Character Name: Miu Tamo Age: Verse Dependent (but usually 24) Personality: Miu is a hardworking farm girl who takes care of the farm left behind by her father. It’s that hard work and dedication that allows her to run it by herself, though perhaps the Gods seem to smile on the land that allows it to be so fruitful. Many describe her to be a sweet and kind person, but many don’t know the snappiness towards those that require it and a fussiness to those she cares for. She is one to think before she speaks, heavily cautious of what she says now that her new position depends on her ability to wade through politics. To those that live in her village, many suitors have come call her the ‘Hidden Rose of the Valley’. For many, she’s too busy to be found, but the glimpse is well worth.

Backstory/Character Background:

Many rarely live lives they don’t regret. Miu’s father was always the main figure in her life. She can’t remember her mother past pictures, never her own memories. The meaning of hard work was drilled in, and hard work was always rewarded. Her life has been filled with happiness and joy. Where she got to travel in horse drawn carts bringing their produce to the main kingdom. How it was filled with delicious food and laughter! It wasn’t always perfect, but the father and daughter pair made it work until the end.

All good things do end. Her father received the greatest blessing one could get. A peaceful death, surrounded by friends and family.

Casually, the same way you love to breathe

the orange

whether it’s your sweet nature, breakaway cover, or your natural displays of intimacy, you have the undercurrent of the orange. a love language in itself, your nature makes others want to take a bite and enjoy the tang that you leave behind with your laughter. you remind others of a summer day, hot air, long nights, always hopeful you’ll never go away. in her poem “the orange” by wendy cope she said “i peeled it and shared it with robert and dave, they had quarters and i had a half” you’re generous and have much to give. she also said “this is peace and contentment, it’s new” well i say, it’s you.

Tongue

A tricky part. Seemingly built for one purpose, but capable of so much more. It’s not just pure lust or gluttonous intentions that define the tongue, but joyous laughter that rolls off, catching a snowflake, talking so fast you can barely keep up. Sometimes you can get carried away, lost to the flavours and sensations of new, always itching to try more, and sometimes you forget when to hold yourself back and restrain your eagerness. The tongue is passion, of every good and negative connotation implicit in that, exemplified. In their kiss, you can taste revolution. Chase it, lose yourself to the sensations and wallow in it until everything else can fade away to nothing. It’s the one luxury you can allow for yourself, after all that you’ve endured. Stop biting down, be free.

her reaction was stronger than he’d expected - most people these days slept with one eye open & here he was, waltzing into the room with heavy leather boots across creaking floorboards & the little lady almost fainted. suppressing a little sneer at her carelessness, joel reminded himself that some people here were - in fact, normal. some hadn’t lived like he did - some had jumped from camp to camp & didn’t really know what it was like to be out there. 

he would’ve explained, but he didn’t need to - her pretty head worked out the details all by itself & all he had to do was wait for her to put the pieces together. when it clicked, he offered a faint little smile, then a nod followed. she’d stayed much longer, had missed out on dinner plans apparently & worried friends had found maria who then found him. of course. 

“‘s fine. but yeah, i’m takin’ you back to maria.” maria was a good leader, she did her best with a growing community - she did pretty well. jackson had come far over the years & it wouldn’t be the same if not for her & tommy. joel had seen so many groups fail. not this one & he’d made it his goal to help where he could. “grab your stuff, i’m gonna wait outside.” if they had to track back because she rushed, he’d riot. so. joel made his way back outside & waited for her to join him. when she did, he heard the pitter patter of her feet long before he saw her run down the hallway. 

“good to go?”

“To Maria?” She asks again, as if confused by the statement before another bout of realization hits her. Of course Maria would want to check in on her to make sure she was safe. “Right. Ok, uhm..” Head turns to look around, a bit more frantic to try and find what she needed to take with her so the man wasn’t standing there for too long. Thankfully, he took his leave to wait outside and the pressure of trying to rush had been lifted. Not completely, but now she didn’t feel like she was racing against the clock. 

A hand runs over Miku’s face, as groan leaves her. Hopefully there wasn’t too much trouble caused by her ‘disappearance’. She was thankful that her friends had cared so much to try and find her. She wouldn’t have been the only teacher to stay here late but this late? Especially since the school was a bit away from the main town, so when she didn’t show up after reassuring them she could get back by herself, they did the only thing they could. Guilt seeped in, as she opened up her bag to stare at the empty canvas before finally gathering her things. The woman put unfinished music sheets in her bag from the piano. Pencils that she had been using carefully placed into a box before tossed into the tote. Books, and a few other personal belongings were put in before she finally rushed down the hall. 

A little out of breath, but the woman manages to meet the other outside. Southern drawl reaches her ears, as she nods with a smile. A thumbs up was given before a chipper reply. “Yes! Everything is good to go! Lead the way.” Same hand gestures him forward, before Miku follows suit. 

The walk was quiet for a minute or two, and Miku found herself staring at him for a good few seconds straight. He looked so familiar but she just couldn’t put her finger on it. Who was he? You’d think she’d remember after being here for so long, and she was sure he wasn’t new. Even when Joel began to notice her stares, it didn’t stop her for another few seconds before her eyes widened in recognition.
