Day 34: Â Breathe Deeply, Then Cough
Ten minutes on the mat. Â Just ten minutes, but itâs better than nothing as I keep telling myself (and as the doctor who inspired this process told the class I attended). Â
I concentrated on my breathing for the whole ten minutes.  Thatâs something I never do on the mat, even though itâs the way all my teachers start their classes.  I donât enjoy deep breathing exercises.  My dislike probably originates from my chronic bronchitis/asthma days, when all breathing was difficult.  The head cold and cough Iâm still getting over made me realize that I have a deep fear of wheezing.  I havenât wheezed for 40 years, but the trauma lingers on. Â
So I focused on my breath for 10 minutes and, for all I know, blew out some actual physical crud lingering in my bronchioles and possibly even some emotional junk. Â Weâll see what my lungs tell me on the mat tomorrow.
