“Okay, let’s get straight to work. If I could get Monroe, Grayson, Candace, and  Cole in my office, that would be great.”

“Another new doctor. Excellant, that’s exactly what I needed. Let’s bring up all the history once a fucking gain.”

Talula’s face heated up as he called her a lunatic. “I am not a lunatic! You are!” She said raising her voice in anger. She hated when people called her that. There were somethings she understood an somethings she didn’t, but this was something she got. It was an insult. “Fine! I’m no longer sorry for throwing my shoe at you. In fact..” Talula muttered as she pulled off her other shoe in anger. “I’ll throw this one at you too if you don’t stop!”

“Oh trust me you don’t want to throw that other shoe at me.” He said, his eyes flashing dangerously. He’d let one slide but it wasn’t going to happen a second time and his anger was fast heating up. “I will fucking destroy you if you fucking touch me with that shoe.”

“Really? My mom loved this holiday because its the one day my gym was closed so she got to do whatever she wanted. I used to love driving around and seeings all the lights decorating people’s houses and parks. Faerie lights were my favorites.”

“Yup, really. Oh did your mum work at a gym? That’s cool. I never really saw the houses lit up, they didn’t really do that in my neighborhood. Wasn’t really their thing.”

“Mathis. Audrey Mathis.”

He grinned. “Goodnight Miss Mathis.”

“See you tomorrow Mr Wallace.”

“Goodnight Miss...?” He paused, waiting for her name. 

“My job is to tell you when to go to bed.”

“Eye eye captain” He said as he turned to walk down the hallway. “And you do it very well.”

“And it’s now ten minutes past curfew. To bed with you.”

He gave her a lazy smile and chuckled. “Alright alright.” Cole held his hands up in surrender. “I’ll go to bed, bossy.”

“I advise you to stop flirting.”

“I’m not flirting, i’m being honest.” He shrugged. 

“I’ve had my fair share of black eyes and broken noses, it’s not a concern for me. And neither should it be a concern for you.”

He gave her a grin, putting his head on one side as he ruffled his hair. “I like the fighting talk.” 

“You don’t think I can defend myself?”

“I didn’t say that, I just said it would be a shame if you got hurt. One ill timed block and it could happen.”

Hazel smiled and nodded, “Yeah. Its one of my favorites. Lots of decorating and a few days off. Do you like it?”

“Sure, I’m enjoying it this year a lot more than I normally do. It’s never really been a thing in my house, but I’ve always loved the idea of a traditional christmas. This is the closest i’ve ever gotten.”

“Hello, I just thought that I’d introduce myself. I’m Aiden, I’m the new therapist here. Please forgive me if I ask you to speak up or to repeat yourself, I cannot hear very well.” 

“Hey dude, I’m Cole.” He held out his hand to the new doctor. “I’m a patient...and I can hear fine...so.”

“Christmas in a hospital.” She sighed closing her eyes. “This is not what I expected to be doing.”

“You and me both. It’s a nice break though.” He said with a cheeky grin, looking over at her. “You a big christmas fan?”

Nothing I can’t handle.

“I once said the same thing myself and I ended up broken like a doll.”

“Don’t dish it if you can’t take it, that’s all,” she shrugged nonchalantly. It was amazing how people changed once the tables had been turned.

She shook her head. She couldn’t agree and she wouldn’t agree. Crying was weakness, always was and always would be. But, she didn’t want to have to lose it, not right now, so she kept quiet on the topic. She was strong, because she didn’t have to express her vulnerabilities all the time. She walked next to him, taking his hand, continuing until she found her room. She nodded, though. “I mean, we can hang out whenever. I don’t have a busy schedule. Except they’re making me go to school still.” She scoffed at the thought, “But, who knows what kind of day tomorrow will be. Sometimes, some days are better than others.”

He held her hand gently in his, not pushing the subject she clearly didn’t want to talk about anymore. He rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb as they walked down the hallways, he let her lead slightly since he didn’t know where her room was. “Oh they are? Me too, I don’t know why considering i’m almost eighteen but I guess I can’t argue with the doctors over everything. We’d be arguing forever.” he sighed with a breathy laugh. “Well, we won’t know that until tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll both have a good one.” He smiled, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Try and get some sleep.”

“I-I thought you were someone else! You look like someone I knew and when you didn’t respond to me I got mad… I’m sorry I threw my shoe at you. But it wasn’t my fault that you look similar to someone I know!”

“So you think it’s okay to go around throwing your shoes at people and then just saying sorry in some sickly sweet voice and everyone will forgive you. Fucking lunatic.”
