truthfully, heās never had korean barbecue, but it smells so delicious that heād be a fool not to try it. āi canāt say that iāve had it before,ā he admits, feeling comfortable enough to start opening boxes and nosing through the options. tommy chooses what seems to be beef along with some veggies and rice. āthis smells amazing, though,ā he tells her, hoping his gratitude goes without saying. āiāll pay you back for half as soon as i get some cash,ā he promises.
nosebleedsā¦ odd question, but he supposes theyāre still in the get-to-know-me stage, and so itās as random as anything else she could have asked. ānot really.ā a nonchalant shrug as he looks around for chopsticks, ready to dig in as soon as he can. āis it a medical condition, or do you get into a lot of fights?ā he asks, exhaling a chuckle at the idea of kate starting a bar fight like he almost had the night they met. āi bet the stains are brutal.ā
"well, i checked your phone for a third location, but i didn't really see one. could be that i'm just not great with electronics, but my assumption was just that you were planning on bringing him back here." she says this all as if it is entirely normal for a person to do. it had taken her a little out of her usual routine, but not really out of her comfort zone.
"you had seen my face, and i had seen yours, and obviously you aren't exactly... following all the laws. so i figured you would probably wanna do some shit to me, scared of the fire or not. so i figured i'd just jump the gun, get everyone here, and figure out what exactly was going on." she points to the other guy. "i'm no cop or vigilante or anything, but like, now that i'm in the middle of this, i figure i should probably get all the facts."
tommyās a bit too busy focusing on the knot holding his hands hostage than actually listening to her, even if he did ask a question. the more the woman talks, the more time he has to think of a way out of this mess once his hands are free. āyou wouldnāt be in the middle of it if youād minded your business,ā he grumbles, barely loud enough for her to hear. damn, heās got to learn how to tie like this. itās impossible to get out of.
shoulders slump as he momentarily gives up, gaze shifting from the floor to the woman. āhowād you do that fire trick?ā he asks, changing the subject to stall a bit longer. a foot reaches out to nudge the other guy, who seems to still be out. apparently passing out and fainting are two entirely separate way to go unconscious. āheās not dead, is he?ā

eyes blink open as tommy attempts to adjust his vision. everything is a bit blurry at first, but soon comes into focus as he sees a pair of boots standing in front of him. itās then that he realizes heās on the floor, but he canāt remember how he got here. glancing around, he recognizes it as his own living room, butā
but his hands are tied behind his back. thatās reassuring, if not perplexing. finally, he rolls over onto his back to see the boots belong to a blonde he only vaguely familiars.
then it clicks.
the last thing he remembersāāwerenāt you on fire?ā
āoh, yeah. i really didnāt mean to make you pass out, by the way. first time iāve seen that.ā
heās talking! which means rain is now going to move him over to prop him up against a nearby wall. a good enough view of her, and he can get a glance of the other guy sheās got tied up. heās also got duct tape on his mouth, though, he hasnāt stirred yet.
āi really didnāt want to tie you up. just thought you might try and run and blame me forā¦ well, whatever it is you had going on with this guy.ā she motions with her boot.
this is quite the change of pace for thomas, whoās usually the one kidnapping and interrogating. but thereās a reason she brought him to his home along with his own victim. how she knew where tommy lives is a mystery, but doesnāt seem too hard to figure out. āuh, rightā¦.ā probably best he stick to her assumptions rather than what he initiallyāhis memory is coming back nowāfeared heād have to do: kill her, too.
that idea isnāt off the table now that sheās playing some game with him and this other guy. it seems the woman isnāt as innocent as he previously presumed. then again, he didnāt expect her to catch on fire, either. āwhatāre you, some twisted magician?ā he asks, leaning against the wall, hands discreetly attempting to untie themselves. āwhy did you bring me to my own house? whatās your plan here?ā
