Even while looking like a drowned cat in a gray hoodie, the burning, nearly all-consuming wildfire of pure disdain for the black-haired man in front of her makes Rumi's nerves burn. Rumi snaps out of her stupor first to shout, "Jinu?! Wha-" "Rumi!" Jinu interrupts her, flipping his soaking bangs out of his face with a trembling hand. Rumi gaps at him, but Jinu goes on, "I- Look, Rumi, I don't have a lot of time to explain! I- I was out, and I don't have my phone, and your place was closest and- and please, can you let me in?!" With a scowl, Rumi opens her mouth to retort. A high-pitched mewl cuts through the thundering downpour. Rumi's gaze drops down to Jinu's sopping jacket bundled up in his arms. It's tucked close to his chest, but noticing how she's staring at it, Jinu shifts part of it just enough to reveal a squinty and squished, squirming, damp lump of fur. A kitten.
Finally remembered to share this amazing sketch commission I got from @pacscraps to highlight this scene from my ongoing KPDH university AU, The Derpy Kitten.
I've also included it within the chapter on AO3, which I'm really happy about!
Jinu (and Rumi) have a very long road ahead caring for the kitten (aka Derpy). I'm sure they can handle it; Jinu already has the sad wet cat energy down!
