So this is a general character / cheat sheet I made for my own take or design on Beetlejuice. It helps me keep up with what I do and do not change overtime, and what key attributes I need to remember to add so that he stays consistent when I draw him.

Slowly but surely getting back into water coloring. It’s been a hot minute but I’m glad I haven’t forgotten everything. I painted my favorite moth, with my favorite flowers, Honey Suckles. Its also a slight play on the insect if you know anything about Death-Head Hawkemoths. 

Small doodle dump of all of my personal ideas for a more beetle/bug-like Beetlejuice. I may actually clean this up but for now this is fine.

All of my ideas include:

1. His multiarms are actually apart of his more true form.

2. The dirt on his body, over time, actually solidifies and morphs with his skin to form a strong shell of mold, mud, clay, and sand around his body for defensive purposes. And he hates it when someone cracks it because it takes ages to reform. The new dirt and mold is what makes him smell bad, and Lydia will just wash him with hose to maintain his cleanness.

3. He crawls around in the ground like a tiny mole or earth worm, and will pop up out of nowhere to scare or spy on people. It makes him feel safe and comfortable

4. He can eat anything and anyone. This is more of a perosnal taste, but I like to imagine a demon Beetlejuice feeds off of energy like other demons feed off of souls. What separates him though is he can consume matter for energy and can eat any ghost, breather, and even other demons. And sex feeds his appetite in the same way eating does.

Winter Holmestice 2019 for “Rachelindeed”

The prompt I was given gave me a lot of room to pick and choose what things I liked the most, and from the get-go the dynamic and feelings my giftee asked for were 100000% my jam, so I struggled a lot to pick JUST ONE THING from all the wonderful ideas Rachelindeed gave me. 

However one stood out to me, and that was the infamous scene in “The Adventure of the Three Garridebs” where Watson is wounded but Holmes’ panic and rage prompts this delicious line:

“It was worth a wound, it was worth many wounds, to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask.(…) For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. ”

Sadly Jeremy Brett’s health had declined so terribly by when this story got adapted by Granada that the story had to be heavily changed (and Holmes’ role substituted by Mycroft), so the fans weren’t able to enjoy this emotional scene played by Brett and (personally my favourite Watson) Edward Hardwicke.

So I humbly offer what I would love to think happened a short while after the case was over, Watson is almost completely recovered from his wound but Holmes is still shaken by his dear doctor’s near-death experience. Watson’s loyalty to him moves him beyond words and it’s only in intimate moments like these when he lets said “cold mask” drop and expresses his affection.
