âFucking hell,â the man next to you in bed mutters, his eyes lidded with sleep. âWhat time is it?â
The man next to you in bed looks like a reincarnation of Adonis as he rises from the bed. You can feel the way the mattress bends under his weight, bouncing up with a snap! that sings in your ears. Trying to not let yourself linger on his backside for too long, youâre almost embarrassed for marveling over a wonder like him â attractive as hell with his angelic features and built figure. He lets his fingers comb through his honey-silken hair, trying to brush stray strands get out of his vision.Â
Youâre only aware of the pounding in your head, and even then, it feels like someone is beating a drum right next to your ears, but the bass keeps playing at a rapid-fire speed, something that youâre not enjoying at all. Squinting at your surroundings, you realize that this is most definitely not your home nor is it a place you know. White sheets surround you in their paper-thin texture, only revealing the outline of your legs.Â
Your phone vibrates in a fallen pair of jeans on the floor, making you vaguely realize how the air sweeps across your bare skin in a cold current as you reach down to grab it to check the time on your phone. The numbers pop up in your vision, but in your hungover state, you can barely make them out individually.Â
âItâs one in the afternoon,â you inform the man who nods in return.
Your eyes widen as you catch a glimpse of a notification from your friend popping up on your screen in black, flimsy letters that reads: âCongratulations on your engagement!â You blink at it a couple of times, taking a few seconds to process the whole situation. Thereâs a bandage wrapped around your finger, and as you lift off the bandage to take a peek at whatâs underneath out of curiosity â since you donât remember getting any scratches or whatnot, you see a singular heart made of flames inked onto your finger. You catch a glimpse of a matching heart on the manâs finger, the bandage having already fallen off.
A ring from his phone screeches into the room, interrupting the morning â or rather, afternoon â air. Your head immediately floods with an aching feeling, begging for you to go back to sleep. His fingers deftly press on the receive call option and swing the phone up to his ear for him. Unfortunately, he has forgotten to toggle off the speakerphone on his phone, which makes the callerâs words spill out in one incoherent mess. The caller speaks far too fast for the man to put them on a lower volume for his own hearing and privacy purposes.
âWhen did you get engaged, and why wasnât I informed of this?â the caller booms into the room. Itâs quite a lovely voice, decorated with a fine roughness that edges the baritone. âYou know, itâs all over the news, and I want to meet the lucky person â whoever they are.â
âShitty hair, what do you mean that âI got engaged?ââ the man asks, a rather strange nickname from your perspective. âDonât try making jokes at this hour.â
âIâm not joking, Bakugou,â he says, and the name rings a familiar bell in your mind. âI mean, I get that youâre upset about Midoriya breaking up with you because of Todoroki â that happened just a few weeks ago, but Iâm just really concerned that youâre making rash decisions. Do you need a break from work just to clear your mind and everything?â
It suddenly clicks in your mind as you meet the vermillion-eyed gaze of Bakugou. Of course, you havenât paid much attention to the Pro Hero world because you have other things in your life to occupy you, so you wouldnât really remember what exactly Pro Heroes look like, but youâre no idiot when it comes to the names. There are certain Pro Heroes that are comfortable with releasing their legal name to the public, and Ground Zero is no exception to this along with the number one Pro Hero of Japan â Deku. The implications of this conversation become more real than you have expected; rumors about Ground Zeroâs relationship with Deku have been confirmed to your ears.
âIâll call you back,â Bakugou says abruptly, silencing the caller.
Your eyes meet, and youâre thankful for the very fact that you have this blanket to keep yourself modest in front of him. The way he gazes at your body tantalizes you, eating you up with how he traces the outline of your body against these sheets. Youâre with one of the top heroes of Japan â no, the number two Pro Hero. It would be a complete lie to say that youâre not freaking out, that youâve slept with him.Â
âYouâre⌠Ground Zero?â you utter slowly, your throat constricting at the swarm of thoughts that swallow you whole.
âKeep up, wonât you?â he asks, amusement lacing his voice. âIâm surprised that you didnât freak out the moment that you saw me in that bar.â
The bar. Of all places to meet, you met Ground Zero in a cheap bar in hopes of drinking out your worries through alcohol. You wonât deny that last night had been one of your best nights out with a stranger. Memories of him pressing hot kisses silken with his saliva against your collarbone and dipping down to your hips with a lazy smirk flash through your mind. He acted like the two of you were short on time, making sure to keep each moment between you and him drenched with vibrance and purpose. Katsuki, Katsuki, and Katsuki falling out of your lips like a mantra, the kind of chant that lures you into hell.
That all goes out the door as soon as the gravity of the implication youâre supposedly engaged to Ground Zero dawns upon you.
âThe internet thinks weâre engaged,â you barely say, barely managing to let those words slip from your tongue. âHow did that even ââ
âWelcome to the life of a Pro Hero, sweetheart,â he says â if thatâs anything of comfort. âMesses are anything but easy to clean up.â
