Announcing the MDN front-end developer curriculum
I had totally missed this announcement when it happened, it really kind of flew under the radar. but I really do feel like it's a big deal.
MDN is one of those sites that I can't live without as a developer and to find out that they're working on creating and refining their own developer curriculum is really exciting.
Now whenever anyone asks me how they can get started in web development I'll have exactly one place to point them to and I know it will be the best resource available. π€
MDN has created a curriculum for aspiring front-end developers to build a rewarding and successful career. Take a look at the curriculum, wh
I haven't coded in probably over a month
I was thinking I should do some small updates to my portfolio.
Guess who just spent 5 hours straight coding?

one of the things that got me hooked on coding was how you can trick yourself into talking like an insane person really easily while doing it. like nodes in the software i use can be parents or children of other nodes, and i had to do some extra steps before deleting nodes that the queue_free() command didnt do automatically so i made my own command called explode() to delete nodes and was pondering how to do something and said "well, what do we do about all the unexploded children?" out loud and immediately stopped to go get a tasty drink and walked straight to bed

Some links to resources with ideas for projects or apps you can build. This is the best way to learn. At some point you'll have to stop with the tutorials and take a step into full software application development.

Hello, world! ππ
After a brief (or long, depending on how you look at it) hiatus, I am back on tumblr.
Looking forward to reconnecting with all my codeblr buddies! π€
I am back, baby! π
Finished my todo app today! I haven't felt very good today, but we're making progress nonetheless.
Always remember to take care of yourself, and don't beat yourself up over a slower day when you need rest π

Built a basic expense tracker with react :)
The course instructor was like "spend about an hour on it, and if you get stuck no worries, you're learning it's normal". So I spent maybe 5 hours on it hahaha. But I got it done! And I learned a lot about form validation and using hooks to manage state. Some parts were so challenging and I had a hard time figuring out the logic of sending state across components via props, plus typescript was always there to humble me ΰ²₯_ΰ²₯ but I'm proud of myself.
Now onto seeing the solution and learning all the ways I can improve :)

Introduction
Hey there, lovelies! Welcome to my little coding haven, where I, Josie, share my humble coding adventures in this blog of mine.
As a Computer Science university student, I'm on a journey of exploration and growth. Dreaming of blossoming into an amazing User Experience Designer someday!
Although I'm currently more acquainted with the backend realm, I'll be taking you along on all my coding escapades in this blog.

My first Vue.js app β¨
Today I'm working on a multi-day assignment - a bitcoin digital wallet app using the Vue framework! Crypto is not my jam but fortunately this is just a theme for a CRUDL app that will let me practice this new framework for the first time, as well as improve my design and UX skills! I will also work with some APIs for drawing the required data and libraries for visualizing it with charts.
I actually started this project a few days ago, but have not been in a good mindset to make a lot of progress. So far Vue seems simpler than React, so I hope today will go better!
The concept of this app is to be a digital wallet, where the user has an amount of 'bitcoin' and a list of contacts to whom they can transfer money.
So far I have a pretty solid layout, a header and footer, and I managed to render a list of previews of contacts.
The plan for today:
implement a filter
implement the rest of the CRUDL features
create a statistics dashboard
improve the overall design & UX
Update!
I have implemented a simple filter!
After that, I couldn't help myself and had to try out those cool Vue <transition> tags to add a cute hover effect so the buttons on the contact previews will only show when the user hovers over the preview. Unfortunately it didn't work out for the effect I wanted, and I ended up executing it with my own CSS classes.
Now that I spent way too long on this, I'm moving on implementing the actions of these buttons.
Belated update: after working on it until 2:30 am last night and all morning today, I submitted the vue app!
True, I didn't get a lot of the functionality done, but I made sure that the things that are there work smoothly.
I also ended up doing a complete redesign last night (because I was sick of functionality and wanted it to at least look cool), and ended up with a really awesome looking, responsive web app!
I am planning to go back and add more to this app in the future, once I have some extra time. I think it has a good base and the potential to be a great addition to my portfolio.
guys im actually planning out a website design instead of just leaping headfirst into it ππ
