I'm hoping to start applying for a different job soon, which is mostly why I'm getting back into it. I got my first job after doing a 2 month internship so I've never been through a serious code interview yet.

Added music and sound effects to game.

I made this small p5.js game this weekend as a proof of concept for a course I might be giving for a few high schoolers over the summer.

I'm hoping to cover basic coding fundamentals in javascript with them. And give them an introduction to OOP.

I've been working on a Love2D game called Heart of Woodland. It's going to be a topdown 2D rogue-like and I've been having a lot of fun working on it.

I was able to get procedural level generation working using the lua implementation of the rot javascript library found here.

I was also able to implement enemy path finding using the lua-star library found here.

I'm also taking a small break from working on this project, but hopefully I'll start working on it again soon.

I learned a lot about Love2D and lua during my first attempt at making this. I'll probably be restarting the project from scratch once I get back into it using the stuff I learned the first time around. (I know, I know. Bad idea, but I'd rather have a chance at a fresh start now and build a solid foundation, than having to deal with the mistakes I've already made for the rest of development)

I kind of got brunt out on coding after work so I stopped for a while and focused on some other hobbies.

I've been coding more again and have a few projects I want to blog about.

No logs yesterady because I fell asleep :| Most of this log was actually done yesterday.

Progress:

Added ability to create turtles.

Created Abstract fish class to be extended from for all fish classes.

Started working on sting ray sprite

Embarrassingly, I was calling the clownfish I drew a goldfish, so I will need to update all classes and files :|

Add ability to name fish

Progress:

Implemented fish movement to swim in the view.

I'm too lazy to record a video of them swimming, but I am so happy right now. Look at them!! They are swimming!!!

This is the only thing I have for today, but I am very proud. look at these little fishies go :D

Refactor fish spawning code

Create Abstract fish class and add turtle option

Finished webpack integration and published to git. commit

Implemented basic spawn-fish command for Goldfish. A static Goldfish sprite is now spawned using the spawn-fish command.

Also set the color of the background to be our lightest shade of blue.

Upcoming:

Implement fish movement to randomly swim in the view.

Refactor code written today for better typing.

After refactoring code, write new wiki page to document progress and implementation.

Work on the sting ray animation.

Made background repeatable

Created a new wiki page documenting how to create the custom vscode view

Customized the README.md file

Added the code to compile the project with webpack and have the html register the scripting (still needs work, not yet pushed to git)

I modified the background image to be repeatable

Progress:

Today, I added the aquarium background image to the webview in the explorer sidebar.

I'll include the images for the art I already created for this extension in this post since this is the first dev log.

This is the background image. After displaying it in the webview I noticed I need to make it repeatable over the x axis. So I will be doing that soon.

I so far have a very basic animation for the goldfish and made some progress on the turtle animation.

Upcoming:

Add a goldfish to the view by default on extension activation

Edit the README.md file on the git repo to better describe the extension

Update the background to be repeatable

Finish the turtle swimming animation

The main project I want to be working on now is an extension for vs code to allow users to add a small aquarium to their side bar in the vs code window.

The code will be stored publically in this git repo.
