I am good enough.
I have days where I donât study. There are days I donât achieve anything on my to-do list. There are days where I just lie down and watch Netflix, procrastinate the day away. There are days where I think about giving up. Today has been one of those days.
But I donât give up. I shower, put on pajamas, and meditate. I go to bed with the knowledge that tomorrow is a new day. I donât give up, and I am good enough.
these are some real cool stickers im in lovee

Learning a language is not just about learning how to communicate using words you didnât know before. It is about achieving a new way of seeing and understanding the world, it is about a different syntax thaf shifts the way you think. It is about embracing another culture, with its history, dad jokes, traditions and typical phrases. It is about discovering ten other doors towards all the similar languages to the one you are studying. Learning a language is not a closed-off experience, it is not supposed to be only strictly within typical means of study. Please take in everything that this particular learning experience has to offer!

How to Study Advanced French
This guide is aimed at non-native French-speakers who have a solid grasp on grammar and can read and understand spoken French with ease. Often, when you get to this point, itâs difficult to know how to keep improving, so Iâve made this guide based on my experience.Â
Disclaimer: This guide is based on âStandardâ Parisian French. This is the dialect most people learn in school and most resources are based off of. I recognize that all other dialects of French are just as important and will post more on them in the future.Â
PRONUNCIATION
1. Once you reach proficiency in French, itâs a good time to practice your accent. You probably already have a decent accent, but wouldnât it be sweet to sound like a native? To practice I usually watch French youtubers and pause and repeat after them. You can also use Forvo to isolate specific words you want to practice. Also, hereâs a good guide on how to pronounce the French r which is difficult for many native speakers of English.Â
VOCABULARY
You probably have a pretty good vocabulary. You know the words for most things you come across in everyday life. But what if you are in a situation where you need to know how to say mushy? These kind of words are good to know to increase your fluency.
1. Reading is a good way to find words you donât know. I usually underline words I donât know while I read, and look them up later. That way I donât interrupt my reading.Â
2. Think to yourself in French. Make a note when you canât find a word for something youâre thinking about and look it up later.Â
CULTURAL FLUENCY
1. Usage - The rules we learn from textbooks are based on âcorrectâ grammatical French. In reality, the native usage of words differs from what we are taught. For example, the French shorten many words just like we often call a picture a pic in English, or a telephone a phone. Contractions, filler words can also help make you sound more natural.Â
2. Proverbs/Sayings - These are also important to know and will help you sound like a native: proverbs, colloquial expressions, quotations from movies, euphemisms, and more colloquial expressions.Â
3. Slang - While you may not use all the slang you learn (Iâm not sure what might be considered appropriative), it will greatly enhance your comprehension of spoken French: phrases, words derived from Arabic, words for money, verlan, swears, and expressions with foutre.Â
Bonus: ways to avoid gendered or binary language.

Any reason to learn a different language is good enough, whether you want to learn Japanese to be able to watch anime without subtitles, korean to be able to understand kpop better, italian because your ancestors spoke it, russian just because it looks aesthetic to you, latin because you like history or chinese because you want to get to a prestigious university, they all matter. If something makes you work hard in order to achieve your dream, itâs a good reason.
